My personal opinion Akalas FITB 4 is immaculate ! He finished with a spoken word opera type thing,, levels to this shit !

Yea I like to watch them from 1- what ever so I can see the full scope but I got one and two in the cut or released so three and four on the way. But I'm a word guy over anything first so Akala speaks to my initial musical sensibilities.

Akala is a legend! we know alot more over here about our history than many Americans realise. Most of them just think about the queen and think we are just posh snobs lol. If only they knew. My gran was on the windrush from Jamaica, it’s literally only been just over 60 years since slavery “ended” yeah ok. He just speaks pure facts!
@Jurnalist_

Pure facts is all he knows on this one. Shoot the President currently was 2mo when chattel slavery ended in America most African Americans here don't even know that the history is suppressed and distorted here. Yea I know the Windrush by name but not all the history I'm currently watch Akala school this guy on how initial this all was.

@@MrJoeshipley Yea but them folks who said it had very right to say it. I do not in any way agree that it should be admirable in court to use song lyrics no matter how direct in a court of law. The initial intention in the creation of those lyrics was art no matter the truth used to make them. So no I don't agree and I'm not saying the system is perfect but they were never at once in a place of the music could be removed because of its content, unlike Drill. Certain man can get sent back up just for making another drill song. But I do concede the point that our free speech does have a lot more work to do.

@@MrJoeshipley if someone makes an admission of guilt of a violent crime, that provides evidence that only the perp could know, whether its in the station, to a cellmate or on tape including in a song then natch this can be used as evidence in a trial. For a lawyer to demonstrate that something someone said incited someone else, or was intending to incite someone else, to violence (unless super explicit) is muuuuuuuch harder to prove. Let alone incitement on the basis of someone's race, faith etc., even proving a criminal and convict-able violent act was 'racially aggravated' in UK is hard - short of shouting certain unsay-able words whilst plunging the shank, norra chance - and even then if you say you were pissed (not pissed off, 'mericans, not angry but drunk) most juries/judges in the UK don't go for the aggravation levy in those circumstances either. And let's be real, we've a weird relationship with booze, and Brits are mostly twatted if/when committing violent crime innit, so whilst we ave those laws here in the UK there are v v few convictions. What went on with the Drill sitch here was an injunction was placed on members of a 'gang' and they breached the injunction, so its not the song or the lyrics per se but breaching the injunction that led to the police intervention. The cops knew an incitement case wouldn't stick, so tried (and succeeded) to criminalise and control through other means. Look is this all a bit technical, yup, am I tryna excuse it, noooooo way, so does it effing matter, oh yeah, we need to know the rules and games they're playing in order to out play them. Young black youth are kept from knowing their rights and the law and therefore at the mercy of being taken advantage of by bullish and bullying bulls&itters. Is it racist and a racialised approach, well yeah, and its similar to how the Met use stop and search in a racialised manner and are seeking to go even further to 'postcode' it up - but thinking the Met Police Service isn't racist would be like being surprised when Megan and Harry exposed establishment racism or when it cam out the Duke of York was a protected child rapist - in a family bred for colonial exploitation that heads a church concocted so a misogynist, genocidal maniac could marry his mistress' trafficked little sister, innit!

Biden having been born whilst the US was still practising slavery is such a useful fact - thanks for sharing. Similarly over here some folk are like 'but colonialism was ages ago', even though (and ignoring the fact the UK still occupies places like Northern Ireland and has various overseas territories and crown protectorates etc.,) her Maj only 'granted' independence to where some of Dave's fam live,Nigeria, in 1960 (hence his line in Black 'representing countries that never when existed when your grandmother was living'), Kenya 1963, Seychelles 76, and they're still part of the 'commonwealth' i.e. she is still head of state. Certain people want their underlings to believe this is ancient history and we're not taught it in school either, some of us however, black, brown, yellow and white are taught it at home, 'English' people tend to be kept entirely ignorant but Britons are a mixed old bunch, and as Scottish and Irish, imperial history and current currency was taught and discussed in my home with an understanding of the similarities and differences between our experiences and privileges and that of our more melanined sistren and brethren with whom we have solidarity. You're right we don't have a 'constitution' so don't have a bill of rights (yet, though our current bunch of BSers are tryna get rid of the Human Rights Act 98 and bring one in - bad idea), instead our legal rights and responsibilities are enshrined in Parliament, written on vellum and then enacted through policies, procedures and legal precedents - they are basically permanent but always interpretable by the people and courts. Historian David Olusoga has a v consumable BBC documentary series Black and British where he talks about his family's experience of racist attacks on his home in the 1970s. Yup that happened and we're still working on it, and we must all be vigilant because the diminishing but violent, angry and hateful minority that POC, women, disabled, LGBTQI etc., have been slowly winning the fight against in the last century are digging in their fingernails and stoking the fires for one last battle. They will not win, they are not the status quo, their greed, and division and exploitation is a blip in history, but we must be careful they don't take too many of us out with them in their last 'hurrah'! BLM from a v pale Ras across the pond

Yea I always thought that the colonial one was really crazy like WTH she's still on other people's money and that's not due to reverence of the empire lol. That section in Black is another one of my favorite bars like damn as an American I can't fathom having a grandmother who would have that direct of a connection to Africa. So to then have that connection and then understand geopolitics at such a level you truly know the weight of the culture your grandma is trying to and has passed down. (Chilling honestly) "Britons" I've never seen this spelling. That's a dope upbringing I got a dash Of that history and how deep the beef goes when I got money in Scotland and went back to London. My people in Scotland let me know they sometimes give people a hard time spending Scottish notes in England. Blew my mind the beef and disrespect could still run that deep. Why get rid of the HRA98 when you could just bolster it and make new legislation? Politicians make no sense. I can see you want to remove rights you're not sneaky. that interpretation element is only done at the Supreme Court level and to get there has so many hoops. That Interpretation section seems risky to me but that's an outsider's view of the system. I pulled that B&B Doc up I want to see this bless for this one. Bless for this comment a lot of gems and perspectives I don't get in my country too often.

The UK doesn't have freedom of speech but we do have freedom of expression, the only restrictions on speech are on things that target protected groups such as hate speech or speech that incites violence. Now of course that being said you are totally correct in say that the things Akala talks about don't chime well with the establishment and if not for Charlie he and most of the other Grime artists would have had zero radio airplay. Now with RU-vid and such its much easier for artists like Akala, Lowkey and Mic Righteous to find an audience, they no longer need the mainstream air play.
