Just think how hard that must be, think about how many sounds and trends Hip-Hop went through in the last decade. Crazy. And then on top of it all, he's Coloured & Capetonian. That alone is odds stacked against you. Also, he's accent is his, he doesn't fabricate it. You must know none of our parents are walking around with American accents and using American slang and shit 😂 so if you hear a rapper from South Africa with an American accent or that uses American slang to express himself/herself and so on... then just know somewhere along the line, a decision was made. AKA is a perfect example. He's coloured also and was born in Mitchell's Plain. But listen to him. Lol. You'd never even say he's coloured. There was a time I didn't evens know that he was coloured and from the Plain. Couldn't believe it when I found out🤣😅 You must keep in mind that at this time, most SA Hip-Hop artists we saying stuff like "we get lit" or "we turnt up" and stuff like that... conforming to the trending American phrases of the time. So in a way he's being a social commentator and addressing what he sees going on in the SA Hip-Hop scene.
