Apparently Craig David attributed, at least in part, the supposed 'downfall' of his career to this character. If he'd just leaned into it, and gone with the joke I don't think anyone would've cared. Every Bo Selecta character was so bizarre and almost nothing like the real person, but that's what made the show hilarious. The Elton John ones are absolutely hilarious so please do those too, if you can find them.

Craig David did go along with the joke at the time, even including Leigh Francis' Craig David character at some of his concerts. It was only when Craig's career went downhill that he decided to play the victim game and accuse Leigh Francis of "racism" and "bullying" as a reason for his career taking a nosedive. I guess his ego couldn't take the fact that he just wasn't popular enough, or that Leigh essentially boosted his career at the time, so he decided to backstab Francis. A perfect example, if you Google 'Craig David and Leigh Frances', you'll see a pic of a smiling David with his arm around Leigh (as Craig David's character). David is a total hypocrite and a complete muppet for that.

@@SirHilaryManfat Agreed, you can't go along with a joke, and essentially be part of it, then cry and play the race card. You were either against it from the start or you don't mind it; you can't change your mind and throw that kind of accusation at someone. He was definitely someone who made catchy music, but had a very short shelf-life and that's not Leigh Francis' fault.

Agreed👍 Graig David did blame this show for the demise of his career. People were constantly coming up to him and shouting "Craaaiiig Daavid" "How's our Kez" "You got ya piss bag on" and if he wasn't so humourless he could of made something out of it. He could of responded to those people by saying something like "I'm proper Bo I tell thee" he could of reached out to the show to do a skit along side his character, we love a good sport in the UK and the public would of appreciated and loved him for that but to him his cool image was too important for that and his ego got the better of him

Being a far more famous and influential celebrity (in comparison with Craig David), she could have kicked up a big stink about it but she didn't.

He was caught out by researchers planting names and he repeated them so his contract wasn't renewed and he got replaced. He eventually ended up in reality tv. I think it was Big Brother.

I went to see DA in Darlington about 20 years ago and he had to end his show early because no one at the civic theatre responded to any of his questions. He pretty much blamed 'Sam' his spirit guide for the lack of spirits that night ... still took our £25 a pop ticket price.

That is a very nice "The Rock" T Shirt you have right there. Great reaction to bo selecta's Craig David character impernation. I recommend you watch and do reaction videos to three great British / English comedies " The Royle Family, One Foot In The Grave and Keeping Up Appearances" that is if you want a really great laugh. If you don't want to watch and react to them three hilarious, funny comedies then your really missing out , but I recommend you give them three a try. If you like stand up I recommend Roy chubby brown , he doesn't hold back an can be very crude , but it's hilarious the 💩 he comes up with and says 🤣🤣🤣😁.

One thing you need to know about Derek is that if he’s offered enough money, he’ll say and do anything. Derek used to be incredible psychic until he got involved with The Most Haunted crew. He started drinking and it was him that exposed Most Haunted as fake. Derek did another show called Antiques Ghost Show, people brought family heirlooms for Derek to check out, he was surprisingly correct in a lot of cases. RIP Derek, and remember "Mary loves Dick."

One of my best mates used to share a flat on Princess Drive in Huyton, Liverpool with Derek in the early 80s and he said Derek would be talking to his imaginary friend all the time. He spun a lot of lies but sometimes he was bang on with what he said.

If Derek believed in ghosts & the paranormal - then he wouldn’t be taking money to appear on a show like this, which is essentially taking the piss out of everything he’s supposed to fiercely believe in. Plus he’s from Liverpool, which always suggests that he’d do anything if the price was right. He’d probably be working the red light district if he didn’t manage to get on TV.

You probably need context as to why he has a kestrel on his arm Craig always wanted to portray himself as a cutting edge london singer when in fact he was from boring luton. Leighs characters are always caracticures so to hammer home this point leigh made this character stereotypical northern england which is not viewed as cool He based this on a film from the 70s called kes about a boy in the north who befriended a kestrel called Kes. Leighs craig david is absolute genius in playing up to northern stereotypes on a man trying to be cool

Derek claimed to be a genuine spiritualist and starred on a series called Most Haunted. However, the production team exposed him after giving him the name Kreed Kafer (a made up name which was an anagram of Derek Faker) and Derek then claimed to be in touch with the spirit of that made up person. Leigh Francis, the man behind Bo Selecta, has since apologised for his racist depictions of Craig David, Michael Jackson and Trish Goddard
