I was there at the Birmingham game when Taylor snapped Eduardo's leg. He went into the tackle late, but it didnt look malicious, and you just heard a snap, even from halfway up the stands. Eduardo's bone was literally sticking through his sock, and his foot was turned 90 degrees. Taylor was super apologetic and visited Eduardo in hospital and stuff, but ultimately he did fuck up Eduardo's career. He was super promising before that injury, and was just never the same after.

In this August, a brutal foul occurred in the match between a team from Argentina, called Argentinos Juniors, and a team from Brazil, Fluminense, in a Copa Libertadores match (the Champions League of South America, basically) The Brazilian player Marcelo accidentally broke the opposing player's leg, it is painful to see how his knee bends in the opposite direction, Marcelo was affected and even cried with guilt when it happened

When we bought our boots or PE teachers told us to change the plastic studs for aluminium studs as they gave better grip on the muddy pitches we played on. We were taught never to tackle studs up because of the injuries that it caused. One PE teacher still had stud mark scars on his legs from 10 years from his playing days. Then the predator and blade boots came along as I was hanging my boots up. Game changers.

He was open to a united move twice before city got him. Ole offered him to us when he was managing at Molde and the board declined the deal. And then when he was at Salzburg United pulled their finger out and were an hour away from completing the deal (Matt Judge got the time zones wrong and failed to submit the paperwork on time). The only reason he's not wearing a United shirt now is United's utter incompetence behind the scenes.

I remember watching that Cameroon v Argentina game. At the time, it was one of the biggest shocks in World Cup history. African teams simply weren't as good as they are today. What was even more shocking was that Argentina couldn't beat a team that was two players down. Cameroon ended the game with 9 men after another player was sent off. His decision on that tackle by De Jong on Alonso (15:57) is something that the referee, Howard Webb, has since realised was a mistake. It should have been a red. I remember the Schumacher one as well, one of the most infamous tackles in football history. I used to watch every World Cup game as a kid.

If there's one phrase I hate is "Swallowed his tongue". If someone is unconscious, all your muscles go limp (barring automated ones like heart, diaphragm). The tongue is a muscle so if you are unconscious and on your back, it goes limp and slides to the back of your throat and blocks your airway.

well, rugby destroys fields so that makes sense. also, most rugby teams are semiprofessionals since they don't have that many sponsors. argentina is one of the best teams and last time I checked they had to pay for most of their gear so it only makes sense they can't use a new pair of boots every 3 matches like the average football professional

No no, as a Belgian who loved our Golden Generation and Axl Witsel I have to say that breaking Wasilewski's leg was purely intentional. Wasilewski made 2 fauls on Witsel earlier in the match and if you watch the video you can see Wistel twists his hip as he hits the leg, which is a clear sign of intent to maximize the force of his kick and the damage. Wasilewski never played again and to this day has 9 screws and a metal plate in his calf.

Fek, thats brutal. Ive seen plenty too and felt some. Fortunately not too bad on me. I remember when we went out. I was 18 or 19 at the time and at that time not playing, but there had been a match and a guy broke his leg. And you could hear it snap really loud. So they kept playing it regularly in the disco for months, bc they thought it was fun. My injuries kept to soar ribs and blue nails and ofc sprained ankles every now and then. And 1 tooth missing, but that was volleyball. ;]

Ahhh the wonderful memories of hungover, Sunday morning football. Broken glass, dog shit and revenge late tackles. Playing on frozen pitches was the highlight. All those open wound injuries from sliding tackles. Happy days!

He didnt, Haaland literally finished that match and played for norway 4 days later. His carrer ended like a year after on an injury on his other knee

Yeah that's the biggest myth about that injury. It didn't end his career at all. Keane is a cunt anyway but there's no need to make up lies about things he's done, when the things he's ACTUALLY done are bad enough.

I did a bicycle kick in High School and kicked a dude square in the head, obviously I didn't do it on purpose and I hadn't even noticed him running towards me from behind, otherwide I wouldn't have done it, I usually only pulled that move when I didn't have anyone guarding me, but yeah, that day I kicked that poor dude so hard I knocked him out for a few seconds and I got red carded, I wasn't allowed back for 2 days. I also knocked myself out once with a bicyckle kick LOL... I was running too fast when I did it and wasn't able to control my landing... landed right on my head. so many memories lol.

"Whose idea was it to wear metal" Well, you'd be shocked how hard it is to actually keep a grip on the grass at the speeds those guys can run at. They really didn't have much of an option, they needed something to make sure they wouldn't slide all over the place, because that was actually even MORE dangerous. Of course the invention of modern boots was far away back then.

Ewald Lienen, the guy at around 9:20 comes from an area close to where I live. His entire thigh was cut open, you could see the bone underneath the muscle. p.s.: worst pronunciation of German clubs and players names I have heard in a long time :)

They can report all they want, but that doesnt make it true. It was hard, but hardly harder than any other match. The referee started bad and tried to correct it with a plethora of cards. It only means he lead the game poorly. There was nothing brutal in it.
