#4 it is not a product of the environment that americans are loud. There are big cities all over the world, but still it is always people from the US you hear. My assumption ( being totally stereotypical/prejudiced here): Americans seek for attention because many think they are from "the best country" so it is them to listen to.
There'll be quite a lot of VAT exceptions so it might be possible to do day to day shopping without it having too much impact. I think income tax in wartime reached 90%. That's fallen over the years but the most infamous tax was the poll tax which essentially ended Thatchers reign. Temperatures in UK fluctuate too, and homes are designed to keep heat inside here so it gets uncomfortable! I would welcome aircon here if we could!! Also 20% is high for VAT yes, but essential foods in grocery don’t have any VAT, and certain stuff like medical might have less then 20%
Drinks are expensive still in Australia maybe not as much after xonversion bit not much cheaper and no refills outside a couple places. Taxi we sit in the front because it's rude to sit in the back. Sit up front and have a chat.
Mate I'll take our universal health care over lower tax on goods no one dies in Australia for lack of urgent care even in covid times when the system is under huge pressure people can get the care needed either from public hospitals or general practice surgeries at a low or no cost.
