In terms of football there is no uk, all home nations, (England, Scotland, Wales and northen Island) have their own anthem and have never had a collective team. Evan at the Olympics team gb doesn't have a football team.

You were spot on about the Turkish anthem. The gist of it is about creating a brave and hopeful future and to not forget those who fell during the war of independence in order for the Republic to be established as their blood remains soaked in the earth of the country. So yeah, it's emotional... especially now since Turkey is on the verge of collapse.
I'm sure you learned this now, but just wanna clarify. The UK, United Kingdom, is made up of four countries. England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The Republic of Ireland is not apart of the UK. But each "kingdom" is it's own country, therefore they have their own anthem's, histories, people, and so on. BTW... Whoever made that video did a horrible job cause they should've included Mexico and Wales. I'm sorry, but Wales is literally the one national anthem and fans that'll truly give you goosebumps. Besides maybe Northern Ireland during the 2016 Euros lol.

The El Salvador Anthem is insanely underrated. They not as strong as a national team, so you don’t get to see them in major competitions as often. But it’s fantastic!
we only get that way for football otherwise, the german keeps patriotism to a minimum, or to use the words of volker pispers, we are busy enough to be humans, we rarely have time to be germans.
The National Anthem is habitually mangled because no-one bothers to learn the words so the words are not sung together but as a sort of linguistic Mexican wave travelling around the stadium. England has the problem that they sing the UK national anthem rather than a patriotic song exclusive to England. The obvious choice 'Jerusalem' has some beautiful but tricky phrasing which does not lend itself to mass singing. It is always nailed in the Last Night of the Proms but that audience is probably less intoxicated and more rhythmically savvy than the crowd at a football match.
