I think the greatest sin of all kids TV programme voice overs, is that in England we got Ringo Starr for Thomas the Tank Engine … but I don’t think America did

Apparently, on Shining Time Station, which featured parts of Thomas the Tank Engine, the US did get Ringo as Mr Conductor for a few years from 1989 until 1991 when George Carlin took over.

In 1964 the US distributors wanted the Beatles' first film "A Hard Day's Night" to have the actors' voices overdubbed with Transatlantic accents so that "the kids in America can understand what they're saying". The Beatles, quite rightly, refused with Paul McCartney saying "If we can listen to a cowboy speaking f***in' Texan, they can listen to us speaking Liverpudlian."

To be fair, I think Spud's scene in the chair in the Trainspotting clip was intended to be kind of hard to understand, as in the scene he's purposely being weird so that they don't give him a job, in order for him to keep claiming unemployment benefit, if I remember correctly. So even as someone from southern England, who has heard strong Scottish accents in the past many times, it did confuse me too, which I think was the point.

Gotten is originally from this side of the Atlantic shakespeare himself used it. Example Jack Cade hath gotten London bridge: written 1590. They preserved them we changed them Candy is from the 1300s so definitely not originally American.

Many American kids did start talking with a British accent after they watched and consumed the accent through watching Pepper Pig. There are quite a few American news broadcasts about it, even British comedians like Russell Howard did a bit on his TV programme (Russell Howard's Good News). It's a decent programme to react to, if you're interested.👍

I presume you've got an agent for your acting work if so tell them to put you up for all the video game and animation roles they can. I've worked on games with some ace voice talent over the years and it's still amazing to me when I bump into the voice of a popular children's show getting a coffee as he's voicing a grizzly old sailor or something in a game :) There is so much of this sort of work out there and Nolan can't do it all on his own ;)
