The 1 pound fish clip took me back. This is British humour at its peak. We bask in stuff that is just completely nuts but like well founded and all in good spirit. And it’s a bit catchy. It therefore shouldn’t surprise you that this clip was so viral, they turned his jingle into a produced single and it became a Top 30 hit!

I’m British so I’d seen most of these things as they happened. But your laugh absolutely made my day! 🤣❤️ So glad you enjoyed a bit of our culture.

There is this one clip of this morning where Phil and holly came straight from the tv awards the night before drunk and still in there clothes from the party it was really funny especially as this morning is filmed live lol

Steeve Coogan who created him/plays him is one of our greats, check out his stuff. A wonderful series of his is "Saxondale" - about an ex roadie who's now a pest controller. It's absolutely brilliant.

The old lady in the super market is not real. The check out bloke is a character played by a famous comedian, actor and writer from Manchester.

That was a peculiar mix. Some funnies, some just perplexing tbh! You might like the "quintessentially british memes" compilation series on channel I think called "one zillion goldfish" or something like that. Also, I wondered if you had ever checked out The Fast Show (Charlie Higgins, Paul Waterhouse etc) which was a popular sketch show I think late 90s early 00s? Also "Big Train" (Simon Pegg, Nick Frost etc) which was a slightly later, probably around 2000? Another cult sketch show from back in the day. Oh, and "Smack the Pony" was another one... They might give you a giggle Also, a total wildcard suggestion for you - The official music video to the song "Deutschland" by Rammstein. It is an incredible video and song, basically 2000 years of German history and not shying from the dark and controversial, condensed into a beautiful and masterfully shot video. I believe they now added Eng lyrics//subtitles, if you select subtitles then go into the settings, select autotranslate, then find English, and voila! (if not, channel "educated marine" has the video with translation) I really think you would enjoy and appreciate it. It's a bit different, but you never know, it's too good not to share IMO!!

The £1 fish guy was abit famous in the UK beforehand on RU-vid. He was even on the E4 TV channel, on a show about the top bits of RU-vid for that week, month and year before his bit on BGT.

That last guy... He has a better voice than all the others in that video.. I've been tossed around the world and I've heard market traders singing the songs of their produce and any one of them could be on a talent show.

Yes, you're right, swearing is more acceptable after a certain time. The watershed in the UK is 9pm I believe, as most young children are in bed by that time, while it's apparently 10pm in the US.

You mentioned Philip Schofield cracking up at stuff (around 7:50 in your vid)... you should watch some videos of him and Holly Willoughby (the female presenter) showing pictures drawn by children that their parents have sent in because they look a little bit strange or rude. The TV show is called "This Morning" and some of the pictures they've had sent in are so funny and their reactions to them are priceless.

I think occassionally a comedian will infiltrate a show like this. I remember, in the late 90s, I was doing sounds for a band in at a studio and there were auditions for a boy band (I seem to recall they were lamentably going to be called Byisterous). One of the crew was also a stand up and got in and caused mayhem. :) The One Pound FIsh song is an interesting one. Many years ago him singing that song, in a market, went viral. Sadly he was in the country illegally so when he got famous from the memes, he also got deported.

Limmy at 13:38 with the minecraft birthday cake, he had his own comedy shows on tv (till the bbc decided his accent wasn't understandable to English viewers 🤬). I've seen him live, he streams on Twitch now, and he's still the funniest human alive to me. Clips of his streams are on Limmy Twitch Clips Plus channel, and whole streams and improv stories are on Benny Harvey channel. All those Simon Cowell shows are based on the same predilection, of mocking and pillorying people with mental health issues. It's a circus freak show, twisted and sinister. It almost backfired badly a few years ago. Susan Boyle, led and hyped to believe she would win, she came second and had a sort of nervous breakdown (in the state she was in potentially suicidal). This could be very damaging to his franchise, very bad PR, so he took her to America and bought her a career (much easier to do in America than Britain). He's PT Barnum and Todd Browning put together in a sinister and cynical way. Cowell is a manipulative sociopath. His production company is called SyCo, the clues in the name.

don't think any european tv is as controlled as the US tv is, so there is some wild stuff over here. the brits even make a point of throwing out that control when they have shows like hignfy, where the host switches every week and not all of them are able to read off a teleprompter... one of the worst ever hosts was boris johnson, he was so off the rails all the time, they invited him back XD

I didn't know you couldn't say certain words in British TV. In my country, Sweden, nothing is beeped, swearwords and vulgar language is allowed, at least in our public service channels. I thought it was the same in the test of Europe, but maybe not then. Usually people avoid those words anyway, though.
