Except when we don't. Until Lula was inaugurated basically every reporter forgot to mention that his conviction was annulled. This is just a very tiny example of reporters being more interested in the drama, not accuracy. In short. I disagree. To get the news in Denmark it's apparent that outside sources is needed. I recommend other nordic news into the mix.
@@charisma-hornum-fries I am swedish but i think that we in the Nordic countries have a culture that means that fake news is not accepted and a newspaper or news media that creates fake news like this would probably be cancelled. if a newspaper or news media happens to make a mistake, they usually write an apology or try to correct it as quickly as possible. Even though Denmark is not my home country, I remember that there were many Swedish people who got angry and took offense, for example with events such as this one with Fox News and the incident with Trump who wanted to buy Greenland. so if a news source from another country is going to talk about another country, it must be based on real facts.

the whole American system is Corrupt to the core, and how they run their country. most people there, if you get sick, you lose your job. and house. due to the medical bills being ridiculous high. drugs more then 10 times the price of any Scandinavian prices. And also the work/life balance sucks ass. the problem is that its not Government run, so they can literally put the prices like they want. America is only made for the 1% rest is scrapping the bottom. that is why i get upset when their Media and politics is telling lies about Scandinavians that its socialism and that it bad, devils work Etc. its actually super simple how we run our countries. we pay a high tax, due to that we get free hospital, Education. its run to benefit all people, not just the rich.
What's absolutely odd for me when Americans define communism is, that they actually seem to believe that a monarchy like Denmark, the Netherlands or Great Britain could continue to exist in a communist state. But I guess someone like Trish doesn't know that Denmark is the longest existing monarchy in Europe. I think Trish doesn't even find DK on a map, even if 20 neon green arrows point to it.
It absolutely could. They have zero power. They're just there for show, because the communists realized that if you remove absolutely everything that gives a society cohesion, even in it's symbolism, the people reject their insane ideology. We've got a soft internationalist form of communism moving steadily forward in it's authoritarianism, ever increasing, ever growing. The americans see this, especially within their own borders.
In Denmark you are a nazist if you are either on the right wing of the Democrats or if you are Republican. Our rethoric is the same. It just apply to "the other" in our context. If you argue anything against a woke person, you are a nazist. If you are against the left, you are a nazist. Sometimes you are labled mentally instable also.
She went for Denmark because of Bernie Sanders constantly saying "be like Denmark" in his campaign. (Yes, it's that old - from around his first run for president)
Yes, that's why and both are totally wrong, Bernie Sanders would never get into a Danish government if he was a politician here, we have no law set minimum wage, it is legal to give 1 dollar an hour for work
A minor comment about higher education. When you have an education system where you can pay your way into higher education, you rarely end up with the best people getting the higher education. In USA, a lot of young people who are naturally extremely talented never get the chance of higher education because of their financial situation. In Denmark, you access higher education based on your average grades. This way, you ensure you first of all get all the people with the highest grades. The main thing is that you cannot pay your way to higher education, thus jumping the cue of naturally talented people. On another note, calling Fox News an actual news network is a poor joke. Fox News is a propaganda network. Fox News was never a real news network.
Another good thing about our grades being such a big factor for further education - it ensures the academic resources are spent on the people that actually care about their education AND it also ensures that if you do get into a higher level education you already know that you will be able to understand and follow the courses and the information you are given, because you have a high enough level of previous education to be able to understand it. The only thing i dont like about our current educational system is the inability to move down this educational ladder again. So for example if you get a masters degree in something, lets say marketing, and you then realise "oh this really isnt for me, i would rather do something more physical". You cant.. At least not for a certain amount of years - 5 i think. Because you cannot take a lower level education imidiately after finishing a high level education. So you kind of have to be absolutely sure that the education you are taking is the one that you want to use for at least the next 5 years of your life, otherwise you're just going to have to wait...
When all types of services and other things are considered and then made into civil rights then of course that is a way to increase rights, but it doesn't increase the character of the people any. There is no such thing as a "hard working" cradle to grave wellfare state where debt is used by the state to create and fully fund jobs indefinitely as if national budgets and economics really mean nothing. The American Dream is the life of 19th century migrant settlers, a Century of frontier, struggle, and hardwork without handouts who settled a wild land. The people of Denmark and their wellfare view of the world don't match that American level of independent character. Why doesn't Denmark keep their euro trash mouth shut unless they want it shut for them?

I think America could adapt more socialism, but besides that, I believe Americans would do much better, if their teachers and police officers would be as highly educated as in our "evil socialistic countries". Higher education doesn't solve the problems in society, but at least it raises the standards and that way increases trust in schools and the police.
Nope not us buddy as an American college is worthless but it depends on what your learning college is expansive and you not really learning anything just like American public schools. I have nothing good to say about Fox News, so maybe better not say anything, I think pretty much everyone already knows. 1:42 funniest thing: let's talk about the American Dream, which might be defined as: work your way from poor to riches. Or at least richer like: middle class. Their is a statistic which measures this, it's called: social mobility. Western/Northern Europe scored higher than the US. The US has been in decline for years, even Europe is, because of globalization. The US used to be at the top, but it dropped faster than Europe.

Hi. This was in 2018 so correct about it being before COVID. The guy in the video, Dan Jørgensen was at the time a MP and since 2019 minister of climate (the ministry was however changed recently)
Its kinda funny and sad when news say shit like "people dont want to work there blabla" when in reality the employment rate is higher. the sad part is they can talk shit like that because most americans wont bother to look it up, news should be trustworthy and that is the mistake people make in america, the news isnt trustworthy.
As a Dane, we have tons of issues. We are not a perfect society, we have big problems. But when you compare us to the US, then we are better on most metrics by far. There is no contest. The fight is mostly among countries in Europe, with places like New Zealand and Canada also hanging in there.
What metrics? You have a completely failed economy, your university system is sub-third world, you still allow a monarchy in 2024, you have the world’s worst average household debt, etc. You have been completely reliant on the US for your existence for 80 years, after you surrendered your homeland in hours. You’re not even a true country; you’re effectively a colony. Bow down to your monarchy, pauper 🤣🤣🤣
I am one of those students who gets free money. I get currently. 2611 USD paid out every month. This is because I am excepted from taxes because I technically live in sweden and studies in Denmark. And I am handicapped, so in accordance with the UN convention on Human rights for people people handicaps. I am being treated with equity as for my fellow students. So since I can not go to school and have a part time job, I am getting even more free money.
Why is the Fox newsreader dressed as if she's on her way to the gym? Her lack of respect for the news, the facts, and her viewers is reflected in her attire. What's that phrase - _"Dress for the job you want; not the one you have."_ It seems Trish wants to be a lifeguard or pool attendant - apparently in some kind of low-rent Baywatch. 🙄
funny how ANY, American politician, can talk shit, about Denmark, or any other, first world country, when America, is lower on the list, in every part that counts...
The free money for students-thing is ultra complicated and hard to explain. Not nearly as fairytale-like as many people make it out to be. However, it is definitely, together with the free education (some exceptions), the only reason I was practically able to go to university. The Danish welfare system can be great, but it is SO much more complicated than just "Here, have all this free stuff!"
It is a delight to watch you. You seem to be a part of the new(er) progressive americans who want a change for a better US, and hence a better world. You seem even more insightful for each video I watch. Keep up the good work. Much ❤ from Denmark. Michael
Something also often not mentioned is that a good part of the reason places like Venezuela and Cuba have so much political instability and supply problems is because of the US's foreign policies which is very militaristic and hostile towards other countries. They're continuing embargos that even the UN has condemned at this point.
A danish tv-reporter once made his own convinient “fake news” about - as far as I remember - the iranian army fleeing fron the coalition forces, only it was fake. The snip of film was from something else. The poor sucker lost his job. 😂 Don’t lie when in the news.
I’m a pharmacist from Denmark. Not only did the state give me the option to go to university completely free of charge, they even gave me a small stipend while I was studying - just enough to afford the cheap student housing they also generously gave me the option to use. When I had completed my studies I had no student debt. I got a full time job 3 days after I recieved my diploma and my starting wage was half again as high as what my father was earning after 30 years of chareer building. If I had gone for the medical industy it would have been even higher still. I am out of a middle class family - if I had had to pay for college and university my parrents would probably not have been able to help me much, or at least any support they would have had to offer me would have been at great expense to them. I did not have to put starin on my family to build up some kind of tuition fund, I did not have to apply for schollarships, the public schools in Denmark are good enough that my parrents did not have to send me to private school. Every part of my education has been completely free of charge. And the thing is that the state also benefits from educating me. Because of the extra taxes I have paid over the 15 years since I earned my masters degree I have more than paid back what the state gave me. There really are no loosers here. And I pay my taxes with pleasure and gratitude because I want to support this good system so that my children will get the same options that I got. I hear a lot about the american dream - America where if you can make it if you work hard for it. But I can’t think of anywhere that offers as much social upwards mobility as the system I described. With hard work AND the support network the state provides you can go from poor to well off in Denmark and the other nordic countries more reliably than anywhere else I can think of. So keep your American dream - I’m living the Danish dream instead. And if you are wondering Covid has not caused a lot of unemployment either. Unemployment is low at the moment - very low in fact. And especially for pharmacists with Novo Nordic hireing left and right. The pharmacists who enter the job market now will be able to pull some decent starting wages.
3:20 The thing is the money you get from studying is literally very little, it's some of the lowest possible money you can possibly get. As soon as you get a job you'll have more money than you did when you were in school. And the points you state later is a very good look, since yes it does allow people who live in poverty to get out of that if they have the motivation to do it.
As a Brit living in Denmark - yeah you get paid to go to school, but not enough to live on. It's more like a grant. You still have to work while you study, but thankfully not too much - which means you have more time to study.
I Think it depends on who you are. Some people live 3 ore 4 people in a shared apartment, and dont have to get a job ore they live very simple. My daughter have her own apartment and she is getting by, she has the side loan, but thats becaurse she has two horses and a car. She lives outside the bigger city, so her rent is cheap. ❤️ i Think its maybe 800 dollars you get, and then you Can get maybe a 100 dollars in housing help.
just look what oligarchy is and then check how you get elected ( and whats required to have a chance) and you get a glimpse of an impression what's going on and maybe why some names always sound so familiar ;-).
A “quick” comment on WHY Danes don’t just stay in school forever and live off that money: 1. Yes, you do earn enough money to live in a cheap apartment, but you have to be very careful about your spending. It’s not something you’d want to do for more than a few years. Most Danes have a side job as well while in university, to make it easier to make ends meet. 2. You literally can’t. You only get money for a certain number of years. This is partly so you can’t abuse the system, but also because most people getting a second degree already have a stable income, so you don’t really need it. 3. Even if you could, I doubt anyone would. Contrary to many Americans, most educated Danes don’t just want money, but work because it’s rewarding. If I was given 10.000.000 dollars, I wouldn’t retire. Not having any purpose would drive me insane.
I can't say for sure about Denmark but I'm sure they have a similar system to Finland and Sweden when it comes to free and paid for education. It's not like you can just stay there doing nothing while the government pays you. You have to actually study i.e. you need to show a fair bit of progress in your study program. You can slip behind a little bit but not too much or your funding stops. Of course that means that sooner or later you will graduate as your study program is completed and then you are not paid anymore. At that point however you'd want to get a job with your new diploma because it pays far more than staying in school. In fact many people start working their careers before they finish school, me included, and potentially never actually graduate (although I eventually did).
Actually in Sweden the majority of people was paid to work from home during covid and told to walk, bike if possible in order to leave transport open to essential workers.

It is indeed an old video. Anyway, biggest mistake Fox News did was not knowing that Danish politicians have a sense of humour, (most) are fluent in English and they bite back, even if they're not part of government. They'll defend our "Danish way" because we're not polarized like the US. If I remember correctly there were also one or two of the major news outlets of DK that made fun of how ignorant Trish was. Yeah, we're not perfect, but take care if you attack the way we figure out how to live with eachother. Reminds me of the "every second counts" trend that went all over Europe because of Trumps 'America first' catchphrase, I think NL came first, then the nordics, then basically every European country had an imitation.
You’re a bigoted state, that’s why you’re not divided. You’re so bigoted that your own PM wanted to confiscate gold from refugees, like another leader 80 years ago. You have enough pride to cry when some news reporter attacks you, but you don’t have enough pride to stop running to the US for protection. You surrendered your own homeland in less than four hours. That is your legacy. Absolutely pathetic.
Denmark realizes that an individual with marketable skills will work, pay taxes, purchase homes, vehicles . . . and buy all kinds of stuff. They identify that a kid should be educated and healthy. The USA doesn't provide a kid graduating from high school with the skillset to finically provide for themselves . . . college and technical schools cost $$. Some Americans would rather pay $30 to 80K USD a year to put a kid in a for-profit 3rd party jail rather than invest in an alternative - education to create an individual will the skillset to support themselves while contributing to the nation economically throughout their entire adult lives.

Because of the appealing benefits a danish student obtains it raises the competitiveness, which increases likelihood for exclusion and rejection between peers.
