The Chipper Chums' style of speech and mannerisms is a parody of Enid Blyton's "Famous Five" children's books. Those books were also parodied in live action in The Comic Strip Presents : Five Go Mad... which featured members of the cast of The Young Ones you may be familiar with!

Did you pick this episode because I suggested it? That would make my month! Personally I think this was one of the most Grizzly, particularly as it's so nicey-nice the rest of the time. As I mentioned before, this episode is also a parody of British book series Famous Five. Also I agree with you about how American's think the British sound. Every time I see a movie, tv show or video game featuring one of my people, we always sound as if we stepped straight out of Mary Poppins, My Fair Lady or Monty Python. Even when they're not trying to make fun of us. Like the TV show Snowpiercer, it was dark and gritty and the one English character literally said "Oh sweet jiminy!"

This episode makes the most sense if you've grown up reading children's adventure stories by Enid Blyton, or school stories by people like Anthony Buckeridge. Those old fashioned middle-to-upper class exclamations like "Hoorah!" and "I say!", and calling people things "old thing" or "old girl" are fairly typical of those stories. Mind you, they are all pretty wholesome. While there are often thieves or other crooks involved, they are never as f***ed-up as this farmer!!

The first episode I ever saw was one where this boy makes prank phone calls and uses helium to make his voice funnier.

Honeycomb Animation Also made the show Cartoon Wolves, Witches and Giants, narrated by Spike Milligan, is a children's cartoon series of humorous adaptations of classic fairy tales, featuring a collection of villains including the wily wolf, a wicked witch and an enormous giant. It was written by musician Ed Welch, based on an LP, also performed by Milligan. The Directors and Producers were Simon & Sara Bor of Honeycomb Animation. There were 4 series of 13 episodes and 3 specials produced for ITV from 1995 to 1999. Reruns ran on Discovery Kids (UK) until its defunct in 2007 and later, on CITV from July 2005.

This one by far my favorite episode , those Chipper Chums seem like the happiest kids in the world that is until they scrump for apples and died X_X *if this were adapted into America, the title would be called “Happy Friends Go Stealing”*

Weird thing about this tale, was that the children weren’t even gruesome, but rather innocent in what they were doing on their adventure. The one person who was truly gruesome was the farmer, since he shot the dog and had the children killed. For a kids’ program, that is seriously screwed up.

Yes Fanny used to be a name in the UK it died out of use in the 1930s roughly. This is clearly a skit of the Famous Five.
