@@justandy333 Dear Sir/Madam. You have just taken part in a social screening test. It was necessary that you were unaware of being tested and that you were free to respond or not respond. A test subject is given a score that depends on how the subject responds to being informed about a grammar mistake. These are the score ranges: 3.0 to 5.0 High ethic level. These people take responsibility for correcting their error (which is possible for them to do in RU-vid by clicking to the right of a post on "Edit") and/or apologize genuinely. 0.0 to 3.0 Normal to subnormal ethic level. The person either does not comprehend, "chooses" not to comprehend or "chooses" not to care about their error. -1.0 to 0.0 Self delusory ethic level. The person constructs any excuse for their error rather than accept responsibility. Examples include blaming the error on "just a typo" or "not my fault, a spelling checker did it". Persons below 0.0 do not voluntarily correct their mistake. -2.0 to -1.0 Triggered abreaction. The person expresses emotional tension in a complaint about having been corrected. The overlooked reality is that we don't identify explicitly the person's mistake. -5.0 to -2.0 Antisocial abreaction. The person launches a "justified" attack on the source of correct information. At mild levels the person may use sarcasm and insult. At psychopathic levels -4 to -5 the person exhibits paranoid fantasies such as conspiracy theories about education, and instances of Godwin's Law (insults about grammar "Nazis") are too obvious. No more participation is needed by you justandy333. Thank you.

"I love the way non-Brits try to analyze British humour. It's beyond analysis." Absolutely! It's totally unique, and whilst I like the "fast" humour of shows like "The Big Bang Theory", nothing can compare with British humour which runs the whole gamut of "pantomime" through to "observational".

@carlgrove8793
@carlgrove8793 2 года назад
I hate to tell you but the target was public information films of the 1930s! The 50s and 60s were a different matter, they dealt with sensitive issues like this in a jokey throwaway style, not the deadly seriousness that Enfield has captured perfectly.
@colinl854
@colinl854 2 года назад
These two characters are a spoof of early govenment/Public information films of the 50's and 60's very cleaver adding the jumping frames as if the film had been broken and spliced back together and the vertical lines where film was scratched, and also the crackly sound track, and most of all, the posh accents the only approved way of speaking on the BBC back in the day.

No way it was the 60s. Possibly very early 50s, but more like 30s and 40s. PC has made today's media more timid, prudish and primitive than even the 50s. The 60s was wild compared to now. So sad...
@ZenoAke3610
@ZenoAke3610 2 года назад
In the 1940's and 1950's there were actual guides for women how to be a good house wife. Things like, before your husband returns from a long day's work, ensure you have his tea cooking and reapply your lipstick and touch up your hair. Make sure the children's faces are clean and they are quiet. He needs to see you looking unflustered and happy to greet him on his return to a stress free, clean home. That's what a lot of his stuff is taking the piss out of. Old fashioned ways and ideas of doing things 'proper'. And he does it so well 😂
@Maerahn

The funniest/scariest thing is, if you ever watch the *real* PSAs of that era (shown to unfortunate teenagers and young adults as 'educational material,') they're actually not that different in tone - Harry Enfield's parodies are funny because they're SO UNCOMFORTABLY CLOSE to how the masses were taught to think back then.
