One of the things about David Jason was back in the sixties and seventies he was very well known as a prat fall comedian, he did all his own stunts

The Lad who came into the shop to buy a Zoom iced lollipop was Keith Chegwin who was on Kids TV a lot in the 70’s / 80’s sadly he died a few years ago and on Christmas Day (2021) his sister Janice Long died who was a long standing DJ on UK radio from the 80’s right up until she died….

I grew up with only fools, and love it to death. I watched through the entirety of the original open all hours, 2 and a half years ago: it's not as hilarious as only fools, but it has a ton of charm, and still funny (in a different way). Would love to see more reactions!

Don't forget the shows' sequel Still Open All Hours from recent years, it started as a Christmas special just to show where Granville was in the present and it ended up having several seasons made

Would love to see you react to more of this; a solid pilot, and the regular episodes are even stronger. Nurse Gladys (played by Lynda Baron post-commissioning) becomes a central character (at least in Arkwight's affections!). A few other recognisable faces appear later, too.

They replace the actress who plays Nurse Gladys in the series proper, Lynda Baron the replacement is fantastic.

Open All Hours is one of my favourite comedies, a true classic. I think you should watch them all, there were only three series' so wouldn't take too long.

There are four seasons with RB and DJ and still open all hours has about five or six seasons I think.

5:47 That does happen. Long after Ronnie's death they not too long ago did a special where David Jason was now running the shop and wearing the brown jacket.

Just wondering do you do detective shows? If so I would recommend 'A Touch of Frost' which stars David Jason as the lead character, both me and my mum like that show, it's kind of like a British Columbo!😃

Hi Noah, glad you enjoyed it, I`ve just finished watching a fellow American reactor watching these. However, I would love to see you react to the whole thing as well. Ronnie & David had a great relationship, they worked together on several different shows. David played older characters very well as a young actor also. I prefer the theme tune in the Series proper.

5:37 This was interesting to see! In every other episode what Granville is scared is the automatic closing mechanism of the drawer, not just the clip inside the drawer.

Back in the olden days, you used to bring your bottles back and get like a penny deposit back for each, that's why she was bringing them back. She was played by Yootha Joyce, who played the same character Mildred in Man About the House and George and Mildred a few years after this pilot. I think the gap between season 1 and 2 was just down to Barker's workload, with Porridge and The Two Ronnies taking up a lot of time.

Any chance of reacting to another classic programme I like On The Buses about a bus depot made by the itv company in 1969/early 70s 7 series and 3 films Or George and Mildred 1976-1980 and one film (itv) On the buses had an American version called lotsaluck ( quite good actually)

Lynda Baron who took over the role of Nurse Gladys is much better more chemistry between her and Ronnie. Grenville is bit like Rodney. Don't think BBC are that bothered about the new Still Open All Hours despite all the legends that are in it

They brought the show back as Still open all hours with David Jason as the shop owner, personally I wasn't impressed with the relaunch.

I would love you to start Porridge and Open all hours, just stay away from Still Open all hours. Ronnie Barker's shows are amazing. This pilot is a bit different to the main series, they change the nurse for the better, from what I remember Ronnie Barker recommended David Jason for the part of Del Boy

It’s official; Christmas is over, Noah has dropped his Christmas intro…. This is very weak episode compared to the full series….I think the gap was due to him doing the two Ronnie’s and Porridge….

Arkwright has a speech impediment. Ronnie doesn't. He did a very good job of making it convincing 'though. A lot of the audience thought it was a genuine stutter.
