Yes Mark. I love the song. Trust Pell is in his own place that rhymes with his name. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EtHOmforqxk.htmlsi=Zft8I1lvIbdeeCtR
Matilda ran on Broadway - about 15 years ago - and is still going strong in productions all over the world. It's won several Tonys as well as being made into a movie which was released on Netflix in 2023. You might want to check out the songs from his musical Groundhog Day which just opened in Australia and is headed for the London West End. It's based on the movie and was written in collaboration with the original screenwriter. It's amazingly good! He also has a fantastic album from around 2021 - Apart Together - with more serious songs as well as some real bangers. He's a treasure.
Really get annoyed when people compare him to Bo..Tim is an original, a musical genius, lyricist, actor and stage performer .Bo openly admits to copying him and is only half as good. Tim also wrote the award winning musical of Ground Hog Day and played Judas on stage as well as writing a brilliant song to commemorate the Sydney opera house, not to mention his celebrated comedy and stand up. We feel a very great affection for Tim over here in the UK as he was born here and spends a great deal of him time moving between Britain and Australia. ✌🇬🇧
Don't forget his role as Friar Tuck in the 2018 Robin Hood film, with Taron Egerton not Russell Crowe. Tim plays a more genuine friar, that is a Christian cleric that is interacting with society, rather than cloistered as a monk in a monastery.... he also portrays a rather flawed man.
Another absolute slayer of a song for Matilda is When I Grow Up, which breaks my heart every time I hear it, and Revolting Children. The recently made a movie version of the musical, well worth checking out!
Every song in that musical is amazing. I cried listening to "When I grow up" as well. Also "Quiet" kinda broke my heart. A kid so distressed she dissociates. So sad, so intense.
Roald Dahl's Matilda, also known simply as Matilda and Matilda the Musical, is a musical with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and a book by Dennis Kelly. It is based on the 1988 novel Matilda by Roald Dahl.
The brunette girl standing is Bella my friends daughter. Funny seeing her way back then she is so grown up now. All 4 Matilda’s were great is the show, being the star at such young ages they did fantastic
If you see the doco "Rock n Roll Nerd" you'll see how his hair evoloved over time. His natural hair is very curl and Red. He changed it during the doco - basically torturing it straight with a straightening iron and of course hairspray 😂
They just finished saying it was on Broadway and you asked if it had been to America. It was on Broadway and the West end in the UK. He isn't IN the show. He WROTE the SONGS for the show.
What is he doing now? His 2nd Musical, Groundhog Day (based on the Bill Murray movie) is about to open in Australia after 2 runs on the West End and a run on Broadway. Music and lyrics by Tim and the play book by Danny Rubin (who wrote the original movie script).
Tim is 15 yrs older than Bo so Bo took inspiration from Tim. Matilda has been showing on London's West End for 11+yrs. Emma Thompson is in the movie. He did a piece with the RSC where, now King Charles came on stage, with Benedict Cumberbatch, David Tennant, Sir Ian McKellen, & Dame Judi Dench
G'day Mate! We saw Matilda twice in Sydney and it was fabulous both times! Looking forward to Tim's latest musical...Groundhog Day the Musical! Well it is a revival from 2016 in London to play here in Melbourne... Cheers!
Tim is a great talent, he’s also a great actor as well as being a great great musician and songwriter. There’s also a TV show, there have been 2 series, 1 in 2022 and the next in 2023, they are brilliant. It is called Upright.
"Rock N Roll Nerd" released in 2008 is the story of Tim's rise to fame. It was shot over 3 years and starts with unremarkable but just as talented clean cut Tim before the weird hair and makeup.
I love Matilda the musical but I never realised Tim Minchin is Australian. I took School song from the musical and turned it into a verse speaking piece for my year 5 students last year. He is brilliant!
Tim is one of the most talented artists there is. His songs from Matilda and Groundhog Day musicals are some of his best work. He is a mostly self taught virtuosic pianist (who never even bothered learning how to read and write music), actor, comedian, writer, poet and director. Watch him perform Dark Side - Awesome version ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3xQmJ_vxHB4.html. It's a comment on his struggle to get into the music industry in the 90s when grunge bands like Pearl Jam were popular. Tim struggles to relate to that darker kind of music because he considers himself super lucky so doesn't have much life experience to draw from. He absolutely destroys the piano in this song. Seeing him live in a few weeks ❤
Ryan, I think Tim just gets up in the morning and gets into it. Brushing ones hair is irrelevant in the creative world. Tim is pretty amazing, extremely intelligent and creative. Don't believe in everything he does, but I still like him.
I really enjoy Tim's music. My favourite from Matilda is School Song because of the clever word play. Highly recommend Lullaby for his twisted satirical songs and recently discovered Airplane for his more somber style. He is rather versatile.
I love Tim Minchin, but I prefer his individual and heartfelt songs (without the children's ? accents)! Look up "Prejudice", "White wine in the Sun" and especially "Not Perfect"! 🤔👍
Tim has become a very accomplished composer of some very very successful musicals, Matilda being one. His early days as a musical comedic genius showed some of his brilliance but he has acted in Hollywood series like Californication and appeared as Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar to great critical acclaim. He is a very very talented dude.
About his hair - I have actually seen his real hair. He is a ginger - redhead with curly hair. He looked dorky when he had the photo taken showing his real look. I am not sure what transpired for him to do the crazy teasing and straightening and lengthening of his hair but it seems to have given him the edge as people warmed to it.
He is such a genius. We have been lucky to have him!Come home Cardinal Pell is one of my favs.Rem he did the song about having red hair years ago.Not too politically correct now!😅
Perhaps because such child favourites as Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, and Matilda, are so much ingrained in US children's cultural upbringing - much more so than with British kids - it's easy to forget that Roald Dahl was Welsh. He was born in Cardiff. He died in Oxford, and is buried in the churchyard in Great Missenden.
@@Dr_KAP I thought Tim was great as usual, Andrew O’Keefe and Foster were great also, but to my surprise Melanie C was brilliant, I didnt know she could actually sing.
