The most disappointing reaction to these pif / most effective adverts was the one I watched yesterday (possibly a few days late) by (I think ?) 'The Hickson Diaries' who had assumed the most effective adverts would be 'funny' rather than shocking... And the lady in question ceased to watch after / midway into the one with the 'Motor Neurone Society' ...and then complained that as she hadn't expected what she saw to be so graphic, so horrid, that the thumbnail title was misleading and she couldn't bear to watch the rest of them. That reactor was (so far, at least) the only one to not watch the entire set of public information films / 'ads' completely missing the point of them being shown. Whereas. Ryan here, has / is having a similar reaction but coping with the images he's watching and 'seeing' the messages within...again, Ryan thought they'd be amusing, but he continued to watch, learn and be able to explain his decision to divide the video reaction into two parts... Well done Ryan.

@@brigidsingleton1596I watched that ‘reaction’ too …. Her comments about them made me hold my breath as I just stared no other at her as if she could see “me” - I said to her screen image “you just don’t GET IT DO YOUUUUUUUUU??” ….. no other necessary words or comment from me ….. 😒

@@weedle30 As I have only watched her twice - the first (roughly) what I hate about living in the UK and the videos Ryan just saw ('part ine') I had wondered if I was being unfair / too judgemental...but... Was I being unfair?! Other American reactors - including Ryan - were obviously shocked by the info ads, as were / are were all but he appears to have 'gotten the messages' they try to instill in us regarding safety etc. I'm aware that in trying to learn more about the UK (& other areas in Europe) a lot of Americans stumble over the British 'in your face' hard line approaches and tend to cater less to 'sensitive' types... I just wonder how that lady gets by 'on a day to day basis' regarding the serious attitudes we take to serious subjects plus British 'banter' which some folks misunderstand and take umbrage when / if they 'fall victim' to what is often (though, not necessarily always) intended in good humour. Perhaps the same might be said of Brits visiting the US and receiving similar shocks through similar cases of misunderstood communications? 😏🇺🇸🤔🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿😔🇬🇧❤️🖖
@weedle30
@weedle30 4 месяца назад
@@brigidsingleton1596 no, I don’t think you are being judgemental at all - I am nodding my head in agreement here at all your comments. I just find it difficult to comprehend that someone should find that heart numbing and intense MND film hard to watch and be morally “disgusted” that it was allowed to be broadcast. 🥺🤔 I, probably in line with 99.99% of other like minded viewers, find the realisation that a fellow human could be suffering from MND as “disgusting” (wrong expression but hope you understand me). If viewing a truthful, factual film of HOW the condition actually effects a sufferer in real time and encourages charitable donations to aid research and an eventual cure for this *no suitable word* condition, how can that be disregarded as “not suitable viewing”??? You cannot prettify things to make them viewable - to have an impact on any safety warning, cause, or effect - it has to hit the viewer where it hurts, otherwise it becomes as instantly forgettable as a hair shampoo ad! I will continue to just view her content, but I am not going to subscribe as I just haven’t “warmed” to her, like I have with the other USA American (and Canadian) vloggers like Kalyn from Girl Gone London, Alanna (Adventures) Mark from the States and Cara & Jeremy (who have visited more places in GB in four months than I have, having lived here for 60+ years!! ) as well as JT & Anna (they are funny 😃) and Ross & Tina, who really love taste testing “our food”! They seem to have taken onboard ‘the banter’ and off the cuff remarks on the comments bit and not had their “hurt bumps” roused - and it’s true the ‘ruder’ you are to a friend, the more you love them as a bestie - I have a friend and if I don’t say anything ‘rude’ to her, when we meet or speak, she would worry that something was wrong with me! 😲😁 As a nation, I do hope we still possess that “stiff upper lip” and are able to cope with tragic or upsetting situations and not fall to the floor weeping and wailing - we are tough but compassionate in a “get in done and dusted” way - and if that means showing adverts where a man who has beaten cancer, chokes on a hamburger, and makes people learn simple First Aid techniques - job done!
@brigidsingleton1596
@brigidsingleton1596 4 месяца назад
@@weedle30 I just read your comments and found it to be an excellent response to the ads and the intention of it's messages, which seems to fly over some American Reactor's heads as though being mean to viewers is the main objective... To watch something so well filmed, and enacted which makes people, viewers to stop. To sit up and take notice and to want to (naturally?) empathise, is par for the course (or at least, it used to be...) I would hope _young_ children were already asleep, or resting in their beds after the originally aired post-watershed (9pm?) time slot, so as not be terrified out of their wits by some of, or all of these types of public information 'ads' and so, not have nightmares, but older children, eg older teens ought to be better attuned - "clued-in" so to speak, and understand why the messages need to be short, sharp and thus effective... Empathy does not "fly out of the window" due to watching such filming styles, but more charities might benefit if enough people got to imagine how _others_ , in different and difficult situations are forced by their particular circumstances, to live their lives... We are not all fortunate enough to be born into and raised by sensible, loving parents... We are not all fortunate enough to be able to afford good food, adequate clothing for all seasons, or in having a decent home, not filled with mould, or vermin... We are not all fortunate enough to go through life in perfect health, able to live and work, and not just survive one day at a time... There are so many examples of need, which sadly go unseen or simply ignored, or are just so underfunded that research into finding and ascribing cures, or at least, better treatments, are often "put on hold" indefinitely, causing more suffering, and unnecessarily so. As with so many things in life, sadly, good intentions "fall by the wayside" due to a combination of general apathy and as importantly, a severe lack of even _adequate_ funds. I think we could do with more of these "effective ads" not fewer. Humanity seems to have become stuck in the habit of "I don't care and you don't matter"... 🤔😥 I can only hope for change, a change for the better, for such information and messages such as the ones we've seen lately, through the eyes of certain Reactors, to "get out there" and (to quote 'Captain Kirk' to 'Captain Picard') "make a difference, again" 🤔❤️🖖

You have a genuine, unforced, 'loving dad' reaction. I expect you were coming out in a cold sweat on the back of your neck. Please, everyone, do consider learning the basics of first aid, including (but not limited to) CPR. Even if you never, ever use it on a stranger ( USA considerations of being sued etc) you don't know when you may need - and thus be able - to at least _try_ to save the life of a loved one. Blood loss, crush injuries, cardiac arrest, neck/back injuries etc etc can all lead to tragedy. When something _does_ end up in tragedy, being able to think back 'At least I gave it my best try' is a tiny comfort compared to spending the rest of your life thinking 'if only I'd've known what to do ...' And your knowledge of first aid may well enable tragedy to be averted ...

In car trips, make a game with your kids that you play as often as possible: they get a point for every motorcyclist, cyclist or pedestrian that they see on the road or using a crossing. 😨Americans are ok with the reality of school shootings?! Are you serious? This is pretty mean I think. There are and were huge protests against US gun laws from parents, students and others. But it‘s not easy to fight people and organizations with certain interests and far too much money, power and political influence.

Bless your heart ❤️. These are important types of commercial, if a little disturbing. We often go around thinking we are near enough invincible and that the bad stuff "happens to other people". Anyone else expecting to see the classic, "Hit me at 30, there's around 80% I'll live... Hit me at 40, there's around 80% chance I'll die"? That's the most powerful advert ever made, I'm sure if it. More terrifying than any horror movie and should be shown on every speed awareness course. So utterly and devastatingly haunting. That being said, the video that was shown on my speed awareness course was also terrifying. Like with the motorcyclist in this video, a split second decision results in multiple lives that are ruined forever. This particular video involved a multi-car pile up on a dual carriage way. One split second decision, ruins multiple lives forever...

These adverts really do hit hard, espically when they turn up after 9pm as an advert on TV. And no matter how many times you watch them they always pull on your heart strings and give you strong emotions. I think one of the worse ones I've seen that really sticks out to me is the Irish anti speedin PSA with the classroom of kids. Omg it's bad, and I think they took it off the TV.

The craziest commercial from Belgium from 30 years ago, I still remember. You saw a sad mother and son standing somewhere in a garden, saying nothing. You heard the sounds: beep -beep-beep-beep-beep-beep-beep-beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. Then the kid said, with a sad face: my daddy just stopped smoking. That was pretty crazy.

15:52 it was started back in the victorian era by thomas bernardo who taught at a ragged school and found a kid who was sleeping there and he showed him the roof where him and some other boys slept and it inspired him to start it up it used to be just one maximum 25 bed house he ran where people would stay for a night or two and one night a kid knocked on and he had to turn him away because there was no room and the next morning he saw that kids body being taken away after he died in the night from the cold and that got thomas working to get more rooms and houses and stuff to help more children to stop another death happening his organisation from when he started it up to when he died saved around 60 thousand children also there’s like a 6min short dramatisation of bernardo and his life and the charity bbc teach did a few years ago which helps sum it all up completely

Famous British fashion designer Bruce Oldfield, OBE . "Oldfield was brought up and educated in the care of children's charity, Barnardo's (his father, whom he never knew, had migrated to Britain from Jamaica). second ad: while i like the message of the importance of first aid, it also makes trees needlessly look dangerous. let children climb trees. let children play in the dirt. let children get dirty and scratched and let them have fun developing a proper sense of danger is important, and putting kids into bubbles brings more harm than help edit: why is the dad just yelling? he was on his phone just a second ago. he could call for help right away, and it only takes about 2 mins for first responders to arrive (talking from experience)
