American Reacts to Top David Attenborough Moments 

Sir David Attenborough, attended Wimbledon just the other day with his daughter and when he went to take his seat he got a standing ovation from the crowd, he truly is a national treasure and world leaders should listen to his warnings of the state of our natural world , I've been watching his programmes all my life, by the way his brother was the famous British actor and director sir Richard Attenborough .

Sir David Attenborough was born in 1926. The same age as our late Queen. There is a clip of them chatting & joking together a few years before she died in the gardens at Buckingham Palace. I have been watching Sir David all my life..since the early sixties. He had already been making wildlife programmes for ten years even then. One of my favourite human beings.😊

Sir David started his career capturing animals for zoos. This was filmed and when the presenter was injured, he took over and never looked back.

Sir David is part of a greatly gifted British family. His older brother, Richard, Lord Attenborough, was an actor (The Great Escape) and film director (Jurassic Park, A Bridge Too Far, Gandhi, etc). His parents fostered Jewish refugee children during the Second World War, and was Principal of University College, Leicester.

A true national treasure is far more than, and far greater than, a celebrity. Luckily for him, us and the natural world he was also, for a period of time, the controller of BBC2 which, I believe (ask other commentators) is the reason he was able to allocate the budgets needed for natural history; the reason for the budgets to grow, with the best cameramen/women, plus naturalists being more than willing to work with him. Long Live Sir David.

A few years ago I wrote to him to thank him for his work. I have most of his programmes on DVD. I grew up watching them as I have a love of nature and the environment. I received a short hand written reply from him thanking me for my thoughts on his programmes. I keep it with my exam certificates.

David Attenborough is a world treasure. His nature shows are the standard for which all others are judged. Great video Jp!!!

A long career and a much loved figure , Sir David has been on tv for my entire life . I can actually remember the b& w clip. He was also made controller of the new 3rd channel BBC2 in 1969 , the programmes he commissioned helped shape British tv . He returned to his love of nature made so many fantastic series all over the world , He has many sets of the same outfit for continuity . As the narrator said he is an undisputed National treasure .

Most of us thought he’d be anointed as King last year, but genetics got in the way. We would have all voted for him as leader of the country - but he didn’t stand - he’s not a megalomaniac. He’s magnificent.

I watched a Davis Attenborough documentary from like 60 years ago where he buys an orangutan that the locals had caged cos it was a pest, for a pouch of tobacco, which I believe is still at London zoo. He is a national treasure ❤ Ohh mad that clip is in here 😂😂

I don't think Sir David would ever consider himself a "National Treasure" though in truth he is a "World Treasure "

David is a world treasure. He makes the natural world accessible to all and he does it with brilliance and passion. He will be missed and mourned deeply on a global level when that time comes. No one comes close to Sir David when it comes to the natural world.

I first watched David Attenborough when I was a teenager in Black and white , I am now 71 and he is still the same interesting person . We tried never io miss any of his programmes .

Sir David was born twenty days before my wonderful mother. 1926 was a year for making some wonderful people. The world certainly owes that man a debt it can never repay. Thank you Sir David and thank you Joel for yet another great reaction.

As divided as Britain is these days, I feel David Attenborough is truly one of the only people that is universally loved. I get so so sad at the thought of losing him, it will definitely feel like losing a beloved family member.

David Attenborough is heavily involved with every aspect of his shows, from going to dangerous places all over the world, writing his own scripts from his knowledge, helping to invent new camera technology, and so much more! He is a genius, and is the Stephen Fry of the natural world. And also when he was the Controller of BBC 2 he helped give a lot of our greatest comedy shows a start! A National Treasure! He has been making his nature shows since the 1950's with Zoo Quest at first, and thousands more shows.

The best of the best. I always watch his shows. He's had an amazing life, going virtually everywhere and seeing everything. A national treasure.

Sir David Attenborough was one of several presenters that focused on animals when I was a child in the 70s/80s. There was also David Bellamy and Johnny Morris, each with their own style of presenting that kids loved to watch.

This man is a legend

As Queen Elizabeth was our nation's grandma, David Attenborough is our collective grandad. Prepare for an outpouring of grief when he pops his clogs.

Sir David is really our national treasure, unofficial monarch:). If you enjoy natural history documentaries.....just watch anything he's done, its all terrific. This guy is a true original. An often overlooked fact about him is that when he was controller of BBC2 in the 1960's, he commissioned one of the most influential comedy shows of all time...Monty Python.

David genuinely is my favourite person in the world aside from my family lol, i really just wish people listened to him…

I think us brits love David Athomborough because most of us grew up watching him in the enormous amount of wildlife programmes, he was working with the BBC way back in the 50’s and still does even at his advanced age. He genuinely is an incredible man and I think you should check out some of his many many other programmes he’s made over the years! Enjoy JP you will still be trying to watch his programs in 20 years if you don’t watch anything else lol 😊 love the way you are so respectful it’s refreshing 😊

David Attenborough is a great man and has made so many superb videos over the years. Having watched this clip, one thing I would say to him is never stand below a bird with your mouth open! They have a habit of dropping messages from above!

He got a standing ovation at Wimbledon the other day. I actually had a cup of tea with him following a book signing in Birmiongham for his Life on Earth book perhaps 40 years ago - he was very nice.

Sadly, Sir David's documentaries and series are frequently accused of faking scenes, which the BBC confirm. The wolf call sequence, for instance, is made up of many sequences of wolves in different locations at different times, with additional wold calls dubbed on top. Most nature documentaries do this on a regular basis.

Hi Joel. It's only within the last twenty years that David Attenborough has stayed largely away from in front of the cameras. Prior to that he spent forty years trekking from the Arctic to the jungle presenting the programmes on location, interacting with the animals and even hauling some of the equipment and supplies through rugged terrain.

National Treasure... long may he continue to be so.

Because of the progress in filming technologies, the latest few series in recent years has given us extraordinary quality in the filming of wildlife. Drones for example with their high definition cameras have shown us breath taking shots in areas that a few years ago would have been very difficult, if not impossible to film.

My favourite David Attenborough video is of the Australian Lyrebird. These birds are great mimics and can copy the sounds of man-made objects such as chainsaws, car alarms, and camera shutters.

He got a standing ovation at Wimbledon earlier this week when sitting next to David Beckham.

I was introduced to him when I was about 6 or 7 when Life on Earth was first broadcast at the end of the 70's and he was instrumental in inculcating a love of natural history in me. If you really want to follow through on his works, Joel, then Life on Earth would be a good (if long) place to start. It's dated, of course, and has no special effects but it charts life on our planet from the very beginnings right the way through and the majesty of his language and the acuity which he brings to the subject will, I hope, blow you away. It certainly did me as a kid.

I remember when I was about 10 I'm 78 now he was standing in a cave somewhere on top of a massive mound of bat poo his eyes Warter g his nose running the smell was so bad now that is dedication, wonderful man

It will be a sad day when he passes. Truly the best naturalist since Darwin. I've watched almost all of his series since I was born over 60 years ago (in Leicester, his home town) and have loved every one.

Although Attenborough is now a conservationist, it was not always like this. In his early career he worked for London Zoo and was given a shopping list of many different animals to capture for the zoo

I'm 73, and he was already a 'face' on television when my family got its first telly when I was 6. Before him, nature programmes meant bringing animals from London Zoo into the studio for filming. I've grown up with him my whole life.

Not watched this yet, but you cannot go wrong with Sir David. My lifelong hero since watcing black and white TV on BBC2 in the 70s and 80s. Not just a voice over!! He is well travelled expert and initiated many of the biggest wildlife organisations like WWF! What long and well spent life. I walked past his house in Surrey once. 🇬🇧✌️😍

"Life on Earth" was the first series that captivated me as a child.

David Attenborough was also senior manager at the BBC, having served as controller of BBC Two and director of programming for BBC Television in the 1960s and 1970s. To be honest, my own view is that was the BBC's best period and has since remarkably declined.

Recommended if you can see it: an early 'Zoo Quest' episode in Indonesia to catch a Komodo dragon.

He is a great friend of the Royal Family because as you know from Prince Phillip onwards they love the wildlife and have always protected it.

Have you heard of the Australian bird the kookaburra? Burra is how you pronounce the last part of sir Davids name not borrow. I know it looks like that but it's not how it's pronounced. Not being critical just giving advice.
