Surely jungkook voice resembles the MJ tone in this song. Fact that he is not even fluent in speaking in English, but has command to sing that clean in English with very good ponounciation is truly remarkable. His Debut Album Is GOLDEN Standing next to you is title track of the album

This is pretty much pure western pop. JK wanted to use this solo album (Golden) to explore his love of pop, so the songs were written, composed and produced by westerners (US, UK and Canadian), performed in English and mostly recorded in the US. He does write and produce himself but not on this album. As others have said, he is the youngest member and the Main singer of BTS and has been since they debuted in June 2013, when he was 15 in international age. Main singer in a k-pop group is a different role from ‘lead singer’ in a western group. The vocals in a BTS song generally rotate through all the members rather than having a western-style front person with the others singing mostly backup. He acts as the vocal centre, the glue that binds seven distinct voices in the songs, providing harmonies and ad-libs as well as contributing his own parts. He also sings most of the vocal guides that they use to decide part distribution. The main ‘backup dancers’ in the Standing Next To You video are western choreographers, each famous in their own right. Most of them have previously collaborated with BTS. Although BTS have huge western influences in their music, it’s important to know that their own culture is a massive part of who they are as creative artists. The South Korean government has officially recognised this, with Cultural Merit medals awarded for spreading awareness of Korean language and culture across the world and by appointing the group members as ‘special presidential envoys’. Their music is extremely diverse although their roots are in hip hop and most of their huge discography (~400 songs and counting) is in Korean with a dash of English, or in Japanese. I sometimes think BTS are a performance art collective masquerading as a boy band. They are seven very distinct and talented artists. Their non-English songs in particular are almost always multi-layered, lyrically complex and deep. They have genuine substance, touching on very unexpected and important themes and can be hard-hitting critics of their society and government. They explore art, literature, history, philosophy and psychology and incorporate a wide variety of musical styles. They are simultaneously ‘of’ k-pop and way beyond it.

I always find it so interesting when people discover the members of bts as soloists. They really all hold their own & I'm proud of them. Jungkook is definitely a star and he's so talented. He can truly do it all. I know you're new to this kind of music, so just letting you know bts is the biggest "kpop" group and they're been around for almost 11 years (they're currently on break because they're all enlisted for mandatory military service). This is definitely an homage to Michael Jackson! The choreography version MV has JK even dressed like MJ with a low-cut Vneck tshirt. This MV references the movie Romeo & Juliet with Claire Danes and Leonardo DiCaprio. I think the director even tweeted his appreciation. BTS is my happy virus, I’m a 59-yr-old fan! 💜

Well, I got really sad with the girl not knowing Michael at all, but thank god this man was there to say THATS MICHAEL, because, after all, that is what it is, all members from BTS are inspired by Michael, not Justin Bieber, not Bruno Mars. It’s such a blasphemy.

Jungkook is indeed very popular and one of the most talented ppl of my generation, definitely technically a better singer and dancer than Justin Bieber. This is totally and completely MJ inspired.. the choreography, the clothes, the sound. BTS are very much inspired by Michael and his dancing.

This is so funny - he can dance, he can sing, he's a good-looking guy, he's got charisma, they have awesome production value, etc. Yes, Jungkook is part of BTS, the biggest band in the world. And as you'll learn, the other 6 members are also extremely talented but in different ways & with different styles of music. They have 300+ songs in their discography and although they've been together for 10 years, you will find 50 years of BTS content out there due to all the incredibly well made fan-content on top of what their company has produced. I'll leave it at that as you surely have novels already in your comment section from BTS fans, called ARMY. You have never experience anything like BTS or their fans - you can trust me on that.

One thing about kpop is they have a lot of contents. Like for this song, there's 2 official mvs. This one and a choreography version. On top of that there a dance practice video and a performance video for the remix version with Usher. There's also behind the scene for mvs, behind the scene for the promotion and live version performance. BTS members are all amazing soloist with different personal music taste. It can be seen in their solo activities where they focus on different target group. Jungkook or JK is on mainstream pop. JK btw is the youngest member of BTS and the main vocalist. They have been active since 2013.

Jungkook is actualIy part of a boygroup, named BTS (the biggest of K-pop and in the world right now) but last year he released a solo album, almost all of the members of the group did, before enlisting in the mandatory military service of their country. His album name is golden and it’s all in English and I think this is very Michael Jackson inspired it’s s not the first time him and is group (BTS) do something inspired in Michael, but they have a lot of music and mvs and do a lot of genres and have their unique colors. You should watch the live performance of this song, he is amazing live and maybe watch the other Jungkook songs, 3D and Seven and eventually a BTS MV, they have 3 English songs and the rest is Korean with some English. I recommend Black swan and ON and boy with luv, very different songs but all amazing. I also recommend you other girls groups if you want to have a better understanding of the genre, because theirs a lot of groups some are very different. My personal favorites are twice, G-idle, news jeans(very young group) and Le sserafim that you already react. Some of them also released solo music.

JK is the youngest member of BTS and this is a very westernised track, and homage to MJ, from his solo album ‘Golden’. You should definitely check out BTS tracks like ‘Fake Love’ and ‘Blood, Sweat and Tears’, as they’re more authentic tracks, as they’re sang predominantly in Korean. And they’re not just your average boy band, the lyrics of BTS tracks can be very deep and meaningful, commenting on a wide range of subjects, including mental health, youth and female empowerment and socioeconomic commentary 💜

in the K-Pop industry they do soooo much promo for songs. They post the music video, dance practices, behind the scenes, official live performances, fan cam performances, etc so putting "MV" helps make the distinction between them I believe.

Easiest to think in these terms. K-Pop is an industry . It covers most genres and includes soloists and groups and is a term used mostly in the west to indicate that the artist is from Korea and has music that is popular. In Korea they don't really use the term K-Pop. They call groups like BTS... Idols (or Idol groups). It is not common for Idol groups to write their own music or be so involved in their art. BTS write and produce their own music and has broken thru the barriers that come with being called "KPop Idols" and have become "Global Artists" instead. That said, they are extremely proud of their country of birth, so being referred to as KPop stars does not bother them.. The reason so many ARMY get upset is that it is usually used in a derogatory manner when people just dismiss BTS as some little KPop boyband. As you will find most (not all) of KPop and western boybands is being forced to sing innane lyrics to boppy tunes and no real substance. BTS bridges generational boundaries - for instance 5 generations of my family adore these 7 humble young men (from 90 yo grandma to my 2yo grandson)... I've been ARMY since 2016 (I'm 52) (Mamamoo is another "KPop" group that are incredible "Artists".... 4 woman powerhouse of vocals and visuals - check out their video AYA) Have a wonderful day.

Why do KPop videos say MV or Official MV? Because there are differences in how the music industry works in S Korea. They also do Choreography MVs, alternate version MVs, Dance practice videos for songs, art films related to songs and releases, live performance films, behind the scenes film shorts, and short films or trailers related to comebacks, which is what it is called each time they release a new album, whether it's a few months or a few years from their last release, a comeback. This song also has an Official MV (Choreography Version) which is just the uninterrupted choreography with performance of the song, a Dance Practice video which is in the dance studio, and a Remix MV with Usher, as well as multiple live performances filmed.

I am Korean and you pronounced Jungkook well. BTS is very much loved and you will get many comments. BTS debuted 11 years ago and there is so much content that you will be surprised. I only joined the BTS fandom in 2020 but the second I saw JK and heard him, I knew he had the potential to be a global superstar solo. He has proven me right and I think he hasn't even scratched the surface yet. The entire BTS fandom was beaming with pride when this video came out, our shy JK who would cry when he had to sing in the beginning is now taking the world by storm. I really like the Bruno Mars analogy cuz as a singer myself I think both have nearly perfect pop vocals. JK is a phenom vocally. The most stable vocalist I've heard live while dancing etc. Nobody can do that that boy does, yet he's still humble and hard working, pledging he will always do better next time! 💜

One thing to know about kpop music videos is that they spend millions on the production, like you won't ever be disappointed. And the music is actually amazing. Yes, they specify it's a music video, because you have other types of videos sometimes like visualizers, dance practices and such. And Koreans really like abbreviations, especially acronyms and syllabic abbreviations.

Hi, I just caught your reaction to Jungkook. He is actually a member of BTS, Korean group, but this song is from his first solo album Golden, all the tracks are top class. BTS is currently on hiatus because the guys have to do mandatory military service for 18 months. They hope to reconvene in summer 2025. However there are so many brilliant songs out there of theirs that you could keep listening from now until their return and not be disappointed. Jungkook signed up to the army in december of last year with his bandmate Jimin, who is also a fantastic dancer and vocalist, and allround charming, handsome guy. Other JK songs off the album to listen to would be Seven, Hate You, and Yes Or No, and Euphoria. Jimin songs, Like Crazy, Filter, Closer Than This. The band, 7 members , are known for their exciting performances, and generally speaking live videos are best, although their music videos are excellent.

When I first heard this song, I instantly said this is like if "Rock With You" and "Smooth Criminal" had a baby. 100% late 70s, early 80s pop-disco-funk. Also 100% more Michael than Bruno. Bruno digs into heavy 70s funk, less disco, and 90s pop/funk.

I’ve seen Bruno live 5 times and I’ve always said that no one can top his live shows…until I saw BTS for the 1st time! They are absolutely electric! Jungkook is unbelievably talented. They all work SO HARD and it shows. 15 bts shows later (including a solo jungkook, jhope, and suga show/festival show) I can safely say no one tops a BTS or BTS member live show !

If you enjoyed his MV (which it sounds like you did :D) I would recommend checking out the rest of his group. They have like 230+ songs to their credit so, it's kinda tricky to narrow it down to just one song... They don't just do Korean pop either; they produce in a variety of genres so, whatever you're musically inclined to listen to, BTS has probably a track for you. As for a solo female artist, might I recommend Jiselle for Korean R&B, Hwasa for Korean ballads, ChungHa for house and dance, and IU for Mainstream Korean Pop.

JK is an amazing singers. He actually was one of the youngest and the only Korean vocalist to be on the Rolling Stone 200 best singers of all time. And one of the most special things about him is that he sounds live just like in the record, he is so good at live singing and while dancing too. He is outstanding. You should check the surprise pop up TSX performance in Times Square, he sang some of his song from Golden his debut album. I think you will enjoy it a lot! He makes his songs even prettiest live. 68 year old BTS ARMY here. We come in all ages for kids to I saw one the other day who said she was 88yrs old. Check out his iHeart (live band) and Audacy live videos and his “Hate You” visualizer (totally different than this. Also the remix of this song with Usher. JK recently won the Male Artist of the Year at the People’s Choice Awards. He has won many awards and has many records but he only started his solo part of the year n July 15, 2023. He dropped his debut album on November 3rd and joined the service in December 12th so he has not been able to promote since this. The album and this song are still charting, 18 weeks out. (all English although he doesn’t speak fluent English). Don’t do the performance video of “Seven” if you have an objection to the “f word”. Some people will suggest it to shock you. I like both songs, but I do not like either rap part. Just my personal opinion. Thankfully he gave us a version of “3D” without the rap and there is a remix with Justin Timberlake that I like. JK holds the record for the fastest song in history to get 1 billion streams. He surpassed Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers” record. He is the first and only Korean to get a Billboard all-kill (number 1 BB Hot 100, 200 and 200 exclu US). Jungkook's name is Americanized as how you pronounced it, but the actual pronunciation is with a softer first k, more like a g, so Junggook. Or you can just all him JK, which is one of his nicknames. Jungkook is his given name (first name for westerners.) His full name of Jeon Jungkook, Jeon being his family surname, written first as is common across East Asia. He is the youngest member of BTS. BTS is an entire rabbit hole to dive down, but they are THE biggest musical group in the world, hands down. Not biggest KPop group, not biggest Korean group, just biggest group, globally, period. Their only competition at the top of the charts are the likes of Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Drake, etc. They sell out all the biggest stadiums in the world, everywhere in the world, from Tokyo Dome to Saudi Arabia to Chile, to Wembley in London, to the US. Kpop is not a genre of music but a combination of many genres so you could get hip hop ,ballad or pop by the same artist, most do stick to the same type of sound but BTS is literally any and all sounds so everyone can find songs in a genre they enjoy. BTS are global superstars with a huge fanbase in every country, they are ,and have been for a while , much more than just kpop. Production value? That's a given for BTS (whether solo or group projects) because they bring that each time. That's just ONE of many layers to BTS and you haven't even delve into their lyrics yet. Backup dancers? They're actually amazing choreographers and appear in some of his other songs & live performances. Check out the one in NYC Times Square btw.

Everyone else has given great recommendations, but I will add one more!! “Life Goes On” by BTS music video :) It was actually DIRECTED by Jungkook. He loves filmography. It was a song from their pandemic album and the song & music video reflects that. It’s beautiful and it’s well directed. The concept is more down to earth but still high value production. We were all so proud of Jungkook. Notes to come back to if you ever watch it -the stadium you see is the last place they performed before the pandemic hit (they missed ARMY so much, performing is deeply ingrained in their hearts) -the lights behind them at the end scene are “ARMY bombs” (dramatic name I know🤣) that are the lightsticks fans use at their concerts. It represented us as they sang “I remember”😭 -the house they are in was theirs that they all lived in together at the time!

I've have been into kpop for a long time, here are some things you need to know: - Kpop is an industry more than a music genre. - Every group is under a label, the most famous are the big 3 (SM, JYP, YG) + HYBE. The last one is BTS label, known for their fast grow in the kpop music industry, now is massive. - Currently we are in the 5th gen of kpop, that means the music, general concept and vibe of the groups has shifted from the previous ones. - Kpop groups use english words or phrases, rap and dance in almost every song (with some exemptions). They release full english, japanese or chinese songs too. - Every group have positions, these are, leader, visual, center, face of the group, lead singer, main singer, main rapper, lead rapper, sub-rapper, sub-vocalist and maknae. In 5th gen of kpop is common that there are no oficial positions for the members, but fans still try to guess which one is which as a habit or sometimes 'cause it's obvious. - Groups can have a lot or few members. Generally groups have 4, 5, 7, 9 or 12 members, but don't be surprise, there are a lot of groups with more than 12. - It's normal that they act in dramas, being models, promote their music in public (malls, street), sing in basquetball or baseball mid time games, being MCs in tv shows and go live (weverse live) to communicate with their fans. In 5th gen, it had become super common that luxury brands make one member or the full group ambassadors and they go to fashion events. Also, that they make tiktok challenges or dance to their own music challenges with other idols. - Almost every group has a general concept. It can be that this group has more cute songs, or that group is more incline to sexy concept. 5th gen have more aesthetic, brigth, happy or retro concept and put dance as a priority. - Groups can have members from a lot of different nationalities, and it's still kpop. It's common that kpop groups have japanese, chinese, thai, korean-american members. Nowadays as kpop is spreading even more globally, in some groups you can find members from taiwan, vietnam, india, latin members, americans, australians, etc. - It's super common that kpop groups were form from general or they own label survival shows. - There's a LOT of kpop groups in south korea, but generally the ones that are more knwon and make it big, are the ones that debuted under the big 3 + HYBE labels, or were form from famous reality shows like Produce or Girls/Boys planet 999. - It's mandatory in south korea for men in their late 20's up to 30 years to attend military service for two years. Commonly members go one by one to the military and in this period companies get worry that the group can be forgotten by the fans and the general public. It's kinda sad, but usually when all the members of a group return, their group isn't so much trendy as it was before. - When a kpop group has had some time around in their career and had made somewhat a name in the industry, labels allow them to realese individual albums and promote as a soloist. - BTS : is the iconic group of south korea, that paved the way for kpop to be ackwnoledge globally and change the conception of the word "idol" in their country. They have offered so much to music, literally legends. In this case, you are reacting to Jungkook a member from the SUPER popular kpop group BTS. The song you listened is from his solo album he realease before enlisting for the military. Currently all BTS members are going to the military, but they will comeback on 2025.
