If I had to pick what to show someone to explain what Sabaton is all about, I'd show them the animated story videos of Nightwitches or No Bullets Fly. They're great songs, but they also showcase why Sabaton's niche is so important: it's important, because it immortalises moments in history that shouldn't be forgotten and tells us what we should learn from them. It's important, because it shows us history is about human beings and events - not just learning names and dates. It's important, because it underlines that we're all just people and that history is something we share; it's our personal and common legacy. In No Bullets Fly, we also get a story about humanity at its best when the world's at its worst and that's an encouraging message.

The fans of Sabaton feel almost spoiled by all the different versions of videos the band give us. We got live versions, lyric versions, YarnHub versions, COBI block versions, Different CGI versions, studio versions, and history channel to wrap it up. And, if that is not enough, the fanmade versions and reaction videos that make the band even more famous. I love this band, and love how down to earth the bandmembers are. When it comes to songs that would define Sabaton, I first think of the darker songs like The Final Solution, The Price of a Mile, but then also the more lighter songs like Ghost Division and The Unkillable Soldier. Mostly the songs make me pumped up and patriotic. If I ever have something I as a fan would thank them for, it is for all the lyric videos. It make us so much more easy to learn the lyrics and sing along live.

It is Czech flag, but then, at the end WWII, it was Czechslovakia, and they've been liberated by US Army. That's a reinactment of The Victory Parade. This is great song, it depicts Great War in few, but very powerful words. It shows the War, any War, for what it really is, death and misery. Apparently humanity hadn't learned anything to date. Sabaton is a fantastic team of people driven by passion, and it shows in their songs and performance. 😎🤘🇵🇱

In a way, it was the war that ended all war, in the sense that it destroyed all previous conceptions of how war should be fought, and reshaped the military teachings of all involved.

ok I'll start and edit as I progress through the video as to not forget. 1. Yes that is the Czech flag. The footage is from a documentary they have on their channel, well worth seeing, if only to find out that the Bahamas is part of Africa now... the video is called "SABATON - Plzeň 2019 (Concert film)" 2. My goto introduction video to Sabaton .. Bismarck for sure

As a swede I would say that the album Carolus Rex defines Sabaton. My favorite song is Lion from the north. I would introduce someone to Sabaton with that song and their music video with tourfootage from the great tour.

This might be in my top 3 Sabaton songs, due to the drums and its grand orchestral feel. Its definetly my favourite Sabaton official video, showing off their goofy personality as well as the epic live preformances. Verses do kinda lack in sound even if they are full in meaning, yeah. I would introduce people to Sabaton with Carolus Rex. Surely if its my favourite song it means its the best one, right?

Great tour also refers to the rotations in the positions of the troops. Though trenches were stationnary troops were not, especially on the French frontlines since rotations were implemented so that soldiers all went to both calm and extremely harsh frontlines. Again 70% of the french army went trough Verdun, they did a "Great Tour" of the french frontlines at a time where travelling was a lot less common. And the "Great Tour" also refers to the colonial troops who were called to war and brought from Africa

In the movie "The Lost Battalion" (The events of which Sabaton has a song about), One of the first scenes includes some veterans explaining the different sounds of artillery to some new soldiers and telling them which ones to worry about. One of the soldiers forgets which ones they told them to worry about and hears one and dives for cover and gets laughed at by the other soldiers who don't dive for cover.
@gabrielhenson5751
@gabrielhenson5751 Месяц назад
I have never seen this movie but because the lost battalion ended up getting shelled by their own artillery I assume that the one soldier diving for cover at the sound of friendly artillery ended up working out for the soldier?

Before "Christmas Truce" and "Soldier of Heaven", it was either To Hell and Back, 82nd All The Way, Screaming Eagles, Bismarck, The Lost Battalion, Fields of Verdun, Price of a Mile, No Bullets Fly ( Yarnhub Animated ), Primo Victoria, Steel Commanders, and this one.

At the Treaty of Versailles in 1919, Ferdinand Foch famously said "This is not peace. It is an armistice for twenty years." He was only off by a few months.

"Encore" means again in French, when saying there will be no "encore" they mean there will be no other war like it whitch was the strong wish of the soldiers at the end of the war, especially the french ones who were calling that war "La der des ders" The last of the lasts, the war to end all war It might be a play on word but the first reason for this sentense in the song is to express how strongly soldiers and especially the French Soldiers wished for this war to be the last. 70% of the French Army went trough Verdun, the longest battle ever and most horrific battle of the war. The scars in the minds of the french soldiers were especially deep.

It really depends on who I'm introducing. If it's someone who loves history listens to rock but isn't a big metal fan: No bullets fly (animated story) If it's someone who loves history but rock, let alone metal, is to much for their liking: Ballad of the Bull and Christmas Truce If it's someone who appreciates metal I think I'll introduce them to Lady of the Dark or Stormtroopers (from the latest album)

the song i would introduce someone to sabaton with... i was first thinking of maybe ghost division or primo victoria but the lyrics could be misinterpreted on a first listen so, most likely some later songs, like screaming eagles, hearts of iron or no bullets fly. definitely not final solution.

i know you don't do movies, BUT really doing a reaction to Peter's Jackson's world war 1 "They Shall Not Grow Old" would so be worth doing (if you haven't seen it yet) as it covers life of a British soldier BUT how he restored the film footage is amazing and just brings it to life. some of the org footage Sabaton History used was cleaned up and restored by Jackson and used in his film

Lately I was thinking that there is another type of "History music" that may interest you. I mean songs from behind the Iron Curtain critisising political situation working around censorship. My recommendation is Stan Borys - "Jaskółka Uwięziona". If you get English translation of lyrics to make it easier to understand what it's about swallow (bird) symbolise Poland and cathedral Soviet sphere of influence

It was 21 years that peace lasted before WWII, however a lot of historians place the start of WWII to be in 1935 when Japan invaded China, rather than in 1939 when Germany invaded Poland. Also don't forget that massive communist purges and "cleansings" that took place in the interwar years. Between 3 and 5 million people were executed in the USSR from 1926-1939. This is why the Red Army was so bad in Finland during the Winter War of 1939-40; Stalin killed all of his high ranking officers so there were no experienced generals to lead the Red Army initially. Eventually, the Red Army adapted and overcame it's initial shortcomings and forced Finland into ceding land in the Karelia region on Lake Ladoga.

I don't have one music video, I use three. First Bismarck, great song but mostly for the video. Then "No bullets fly, animated story video" to get the story and the emotions. And then I wrap it up with "En livstid i krig, Live from Gothenburg" to give them that chilling vibe together with their impressive live performance. It's also a strong anti war song to get away from that ridiculous notion that they glorify war. If they are not hooked after that, there is something wrong with them. :)

Primo Victoria and Screaming Eagles. In a way the allies left the door open for the start of WW2. Had they not put Germany in the economic position they did. Maybe WW2 would never had happened.

The video I'd show someone to show them what Sabaton is has to be Bismarck. The song is dope and just classic Sabaton, plus the dope video quality. That or the animated story video for No Bullets Fly. The song is not as good as Bismarck, but the video brings across pretty well what Sabaton does.

I appreciate your honesty. I've been questioning if I've been too hard on them. I have also been paying attention to other songs I love and discovering that there are definitely verses in other songs that don't rhyme and for some reason it doesn't bother me. I'm going in blind on all of these songs, really trying to understand what they are about and it's just a pet peeve of mine. I have heard some really amazing well written Sabaton songs. And, I have heard some not so well written. It is what it is. Thanks again for the honesty. Thats all any of us can ask for.

I'd have to disagree on the matter of Russia & Ukraine. Ukraine is a breakaway state from Russia. It's very, very rare that a breakaway state doesn't meet it's former nation in war. The only difference this time is how televised the war to us. There also Ukraine poisoning civilian water sources. But I don't know if that was after the war started or right before. Either way, still fucked up.
