Hey bro! Glad you enjoyed it. Just to help you better understand the game: we call “downs” a tackle. The attacking side that has the ball gets 6 tackles before they have to hand the ball to the other team. A tackle ends when the attacking player’s momentum is stopped, or he is held for a significant amount of time, when that happens he passes the ball under neath and the tackle is complete. Scoring - a “try” is 4 points. After every “try” they have the chance to score an extra 2 points by kicking a “conversion”. The difficulty of this kick depends on where they score the try. One of the great things about League is when the fatigue kicks in during those last 10-15 minutes and everything can change. You don't get that kind of fatigue from most team sports where there are so many stoppages. If you want to stop the game in League, you need to score...or start a fight.

The broncos will be playing in Vegas on march. You should go and watch they're very entertaining to watch

The play goes on for 6 tackles before the ball is handed to the other team. We don't have downs. As you can see unlike American football it doesn't stop and they all play, the the full 80 minutes. With a 10 minute break for half time.

The play doesn’t stop in either Rugby League or Rugby Union, unless the ball goes out of the field boundaries, or there’s a foul. Two periods of forty minutes each, with hardly any breaks.

As a broncos fan we have won 6 premierships (1992,1993,1997,1998,2000 and 2006) Runners up twice 2015 lost to our biggest rivals North Queensland Cowboys in golden point and 2023 to the Panthers it’s painful to watch both grand finals and the pain won’t go until a 7th premiership I hope you enjoy my little history season on the best team in the NRL

It was a great game. NRL is just awesome!! Shame rugby league doesn't have the same impact here in the UK, as it's the better of the two codes by far.

Rugby League and Rugby Union are considered to be different sports. They each have thier own world cup. Different rules, different amount of players on the field, different tactics. Union has no downs, League has six tackles to score. The NRL is the Australian "League" competition.

6 tackle sets with the ball, then the ball turns over to the other team. Must pass backwards, can kick ball forward, only players behind the kicker can play the ball. The two point kick (conversion) is kicked at the 20m line from where the try was scored. Cheers

BTW, it's not called rugby. That's the term used for rugby union. What you watched I'd called rugby league or as we call it, the greatest game of them all.

Two of the greatest Grand finals. the 2015 Cowboys game and this one. This game had it all.

The equivalent of a downs is a tackle (when they put they guy on the ground) you get 6 tackles to do anything (there is no minimum distance you need to travel, in fact you can lose ground - not that you want to) then on the 5th you normally kick for field position (if you get tackled on the 5th you hand it over on the spot). A Try (touch down equivalent - except you have to put the ball on the ground with control - not just make it over the line) is worth 4 points, then you get a chance to convert it for another 2 (place kick in line with where the try was scored), a penalty goal is also worth 2 which is taken from the point the penalty was given away. There is also a field goal which is worth 1 point (drop kick in the field of play) - if you pull off a drop kick from more than 40 meters out you get 2 points. In about 3 weeks if you live anywhere near Vegas you can catch 2 games on March 2 - the 2024 season openers.

So this is Rugby League, the other code is Rugby UNION. League is faster/short form with 4 point and 2 point conversion rules. Union is 5 & 2 points. Both play 80minutes, 40 and 40 with Union having added time akin to Football. Union was establisahed first and is a longer, grindier, slugg it out long form, League is the faster, speeded up, less breaks and stoppages quick form. both require 2 way play for the entire game and can use a bench of 6-8 players for subs with different competitions allowing the use of a different maximum number of Subs. Both use a similar leather or synthetic leather/rubberished ball with gritty grip all over it similiar to a basketball but 3d textured. A adult competition level ball (either a STEEDEN brand or GILBERT brand) i would estimate at being atleast 2 times the size of a Gridiron ball. The NRL is the highest non international pro compettion for Rugby League in Australia and the Pacific. the UK has a pro comp also with the same rule set but NRL is the highest league a Pro player can reach. The NRL is currently a 17 team competition with 1 or 2 additional expansion teams set to enter the comp over the next few years. All teams are based on the Australian mainland except one The Warriors, being based in Auckland New Zealand. The NRl can trace its competition history back to 1908 but didnt become a unified competition until it merged with the ARL & Superleague in 1998 and became the Lone sole Pro Level competition. There stae level feeder clubs and comps that feed into NRl teams however teams dont get relegated or promoted like they do in the English football league system. The World Club Challenge is when the League Champion from the NRL plays the league Champion from the UK's Super League for bragging rights. Although the NRL has expanded and is arguably experiencing aresurgance in relevance as well as its highest ratings and biggest attendances to date, Rugby LEAGUE is not yet a truly internationally appreciated or followed code of Rugby. Players do represent their countires on an international level and there is a World Cup competiton also. The Other code is Union. It has a more internationally recognised following, a few different rules, added time,(scrums, rucks and line outs) Its The one with THE BIG world cup that features the All Blacks, Wallabies, South African Springboks, Argentina, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Japan & Fiji being the big dogs. It doesnt have the same fast paced action of League and although they are not direct competitors that fight for tv time or anything, they both have their merits and nuances and a niche for eithger type of fan. Its not unheard of for League players to swiutch codes to Union and vice versa. The skills and fitness level directly translate. although an arguement could be made that the tackling is different and harder to master compared to Leagues body wrap style upper body tackles. Brisbane is pronounced Brizb'n. Also it's not Rugby, it's Rugby league, Rugby is Rugby Union. They are 2 totally different codes of football, completely different rules, players on the paddock etc. Soz mate i could watch a bit coz calling it Rugby is just annoying & typically American arrogance. Maybe do a little research before reacting to get more of an understanding of the game as well as it's terminology coz calling every step an gridiron terminology is frustrating too.
