American Shad using SALMON EGGS?? | Fishing for Shad American River, Sacramento 

American Shad Fishing Using Salmon Eggs on the American River. I went out yesterday for some trout on the American river but luckily ran into a subscriber who said that the shad had started running. So I took out my google maps and found a good spot a few miles up river and tried my luck. Nothing bit on my trout flies so after a few hours a started experimenting!
