Purchased this based of this review and a few others. Took my Bulldog to the range today. 50 shots of target loads and 25 00 buckshot loads and ZERO malfunctions. The recoil is minimal for a 12ga! 4-5inch groups at 12.5yards and 6-8in groups at 25 with Fiocchi 00 Buck. Home defense purpose in mind, not so much hunting but once i get the slugs i ordered will be doing some testing on those. Thanks for such a great and in depth review of a fantastic shotgun!
@@deanmayer6508 just be mindful of the magazines. the aftermarket 10 rounds work GREAT, the 5 rounders...garbage and jam frequently. the 5 rounder that came with it is solid though. Just an FYI
@@airgunbubba2505 I just ordered 2 10 round mags for it. I got them from Classic Firearms and they specifically said it was for the ATI Bull Dog so they should be fine. Thanks for the heads up.
I JUST ORDERED ONE TODAY. I GOT THE 20 GA. FOR HOME DEF WHY WOULD YOU WANT A 12GA. 20 GA IS A LOT LESS RECOIL. HAD A HARD TIME FINDING A 10 ROUND MAG, BUT I DID. GOT ONE ORDERED.
LOVE mine! Most fun I have had for under $450. ZERO malfunctions shooting 00, Slugs, Defense rounds and birdshot. I changed the poor factory sights. I used two 1/2" UTG MT-RSX5S picatinny risers to get iron sights up where they should be on this cannon (feels natural - perfect height). Then I used UTG Accusync irons. Vastly better setup than what comes with it. Last, added a covert clutch slip on hex grip and a pic rail aluminum fore handle grip which is AWESOME! Overall, my favorite gun purchase in the last several years.
I agree the included sights suck. It is nice that they include them though. Better than nothing, but definitely could be better. Check out our range review on it as well.
When I got mine first thing is got3 10 rd and the mka 1919 20 round I had no mercy on my bulldog,60 rou ds in bout 2 minutes, with 3 inch #6.it ran great.oh put a cheap crossbow red dot that held up great..love it...
I bought this gun not sure how he got all black as all was sold out except for black/tan. Got rid of plastic sight installed troy tritium sights, mounted at3 red dot. I know all the working insides to make it operate with all 2 3/4 shells, from 7 1/2 shot 1145 fps to black aces slugs 1650 fps and 1430 fps buckshot. If it's not assembled correctly the sights on the picatinny rail will need to be adjusted every time it is re assembled. This is using a laser bore sight windage is affected but not elevation. The correct assembly is to install the barrel shroud first making it very tight by hand then installing the two hex bolts that surround the barrel nut. During operation the picatinny rail will move from recoil if the above assembly procedure is not followed making the red dot and the iron sights off a little. I been the the range 4 times with it. It cycles perfect with the above ammo. There is a black nut with a rubber o-ring that compresses a little bell housing with two pieces this little bellhousing pressurizes from 3 gas ports in the barrel once the shell is halfway down the pipe this bellhousing must come apart easily and it must be sealed with a little bit of Sig grease. This little bell housing it comes apart during cycling of the weapon it acts like a hammer and it kicks to Shell out and actually helps out with the cycling of the weapon. The little black nut with the rubber o-ring need to have a little bit of oil coated on it and it needs to be turned down tight that seals the pressurization of the bellhousing at the top of it from leaks the little bit of grease on the 2 bellhousing lips that actually seals it a little better so that it pressurizes up good and provides a nice good kick to cycle the shell out of the weapon without that this clogs up with dirt after just 25 shells and it needs to be cleaned thoroughly with a brass brush and solvent and then recoated with the grease. Also a little bit of oil needs to be applied with a Q-tip to the barrel underneath the bellhousing and all the way down through the action where this part slide this will ensure that the part will cycle the shells out even the cheapest shells will work in it then after doing this. Also the barrel shroud it has a little rubber o ring under it to this o ring needs to be coated with grease this prevented from wearing out from being tighten down tight.
If your in need of a carry bag for your bullpup try a tennis racket bag. I tried it on my bullpup and it fit like it was made for it. Plus there are extra pockets for mags and tools or whatever you might need.
I just did as well today (got the 20ga because a relative that recently passed left me 1275 rounds of Winchester ammo in original boxes and not expired, so i built my new gun around that free ammo and this bad mofo has to fit that requirement…..I’ll get back once i receive it.
@@Gruntreviews Thanks. I plan to get the Tokarev. I hope the recoil & loudness isn't too bad since it's a short barrel shotgun. Normally shorter barrel shotguns & rifles are louder & have heavier recoil.
I know this sounds odd but can you give me the dimensions of the box that the bulldog is packaged in. I was wondering if it would fit in a 3 inch high shelf?
Realistically they all come out of 1 of 2 plants. Between the different brands, the operation system is the same, it's the cosmetics that change. The Black Aces units and the American Tactical units seem to be better QCed than some of the other brands. Put both in your hands and see what one feels better.
@@Gruntreviews First timer then say I got the shotgun for my home defense as a first time buyer how much tension should the trigger have for a reliable pull? still around 5 pounds?
Some of it is going to be preference. In the case you have to use it a defensive scenario, you'll have more than enough adrenaline going to pull pretty much any trigger weight.
@@phillipcsandoval9094 I'm not sure. You'd probably want to consult a representative from the Communist Commune of California. My general rule of thumb is anything cool in illegal there.
Check the left side where the magazine release meets the magazine. Make sure it's fully seating on the magazine when inserted and that the magazine isn't pushing past the detent. Other possibility is that the magazine catch is bent and may need to be pushed back in. If you have another, try a different magazine.
Interesting review. Honestly, in my opinion, if you need more than two or three rounds from a shotgun in a home defense scenario, you live in the wrong place. Might just get one of these, with the $200 tax payers refund as part of it. THANKS BIDEN!!
