This difference with the tipping is that here in the UK waiters/waitresses are generally paid a proper wage so are not reliant on tips whereas in the US they are so poorly paid that the only way they can survive is through tips so of course they are going to be extra nice. Also in the US they will try and rush you from the table so they can get more people through whereas in the UK yo7 can sit at the table all day if you really want to and for the most part no one will mind

Card and contactless is much more popular in Europe (or the U.K. at least). It’s very rare for us to have to put our PIN in nowadays due to the contactless limit being £100 or Apple Pay being unlimited. Vending machines, public toilet turnstiles and even buskers in the street are all contactless

The UK has been paying by card most places for years and we actually had chip and pin way before the USA did. I'm 27 and I remember getting pretty worried if my card would even work when I had to swipe it in the USA as I had never paid by swiping before. I was actually shocked and a little concerned when it did work.

It’s a valid concern. Some UK banks already block mag stripe payments as default (options to temporarily unblock in an app) and Mastercard have announced that they won’t require European card issuers to include mag stripes at all from next year.

One thing I find weird, every US true crime documentary that includes a bar, the people involved always *drive* to the bar, and from the bar at the end of the night. So it's ok to spend a night drinking and drive home there? In UK even a pint would be over the legal limit 😮

Hi Anna & JT. I’ve been to the US loads of times. I worked on Staten Island (NY) for 6 months. I only got asked for ID once and that was in a bar/cafe in Atlanta, I was 50 at the time so I had to make do with a Coke rather than the beer I was looking for. In the UK we don’t have ID cards and we are not required to carry driving licences with us. Because I was on a coach tour my passport was staying safe in the bus. Yes, I was 50 and I look my age, balding head and greying moustache. In the UK they will only ask for ID if you look too young. Never been asked if I’m over drinking age in the UK. The first time I watched TV in the US I was amazed at how often and for how ling there were ad breaks. I was watching MASH. In the UK this was on BBC and we had no ad breaks at all. A 30 minute programme lasted 30 minutes, not the 40 to 50 minutes in the US. Our ad’s can be entertaining (on the other channels) but getting ad’s for medical things just doesn’t happen. Strict laws prevent that.

Commercials / advert. There was a satellite TV channel owned by an American group that broadcast to the UK, and they lasted about two days. I flipped through the channels, saw Star Trek was soon to be on, waited, and there was an ad right AFTER the titles (this NEVER happens), then another about eight minutes later, and altogether a 45 minute episode filled with ads took nearly 1 1/2 hours. Never watched that channel again, heard later they had dropped about 90% of ads, too late, they folded / sold a week or two later.

In the UK a lot of places have a "Challenge 25" policy about ID, which means if you think someone is under 25 you ask for ID(even tho the legal age to buy alcohol and cigarettes here is 18 so that doesn't make much sense). Some people do this annoying thing where they ask how old you are, and if you say an age under 25, then they'll ask you for ID and it's just like "Why didn't you save us both the hassle and ask me for ID in the first place ffs?"

as far as im aware, the reason we have a bad rep in the uk for bad teeth is because 1, we drink a lot of tea that stains teeth, 2, we dont care as much about how our teeth look, unless theres danger to our teeth we tend to leave them alone, some of us will get braces but for the most part we dont care besides stuff like that im pretty sure we actually have better dental stats than the us, remember the uk has the nhs and even tho now its extremely hard to find a nhs dentist that isn't full people in this country have access to free dental care and privet if they was to expedite the procedure

Commercials drove me so crazy I got rid of cable and satellite and went to streaming only. Though some streaming that is free have commercials they come less often and are usually only about 30 seconds to 1 minute unlike regular tv that can have 4 or 5 minute commercial breaks. It’s stupid that an hour long program is really about 43 minutes and the rest is commercials.

Most Brits DO have regular dental visits and take care of their teeth, BUT UK teeth are generally natural ivory in colour, like a dog or cat…Whereas American teeth teeth are made whiter and straighter than natural with special dental procedures, almost to the point of near glowing with their own internal light bulbs. On a dark night, an American may only need to smile to see the way.

5:58 This image here is untrue (UK). You cannot sell tobacco/alcohol products to anyone under the age of 18. If anyone that is underage, or looks underage but doesn't have ID, gives money to someone who is old enough that tries to buy it, then we will not sell it to them (Proxy sale). If you look under 25 then we would have to see your ID. (There are some older than they are looking teenagers out there). Which would be why Liam Gallagher was a little annoyed, from being so used to not needing his ID.

Commercials in uk go as follows - 8 to 11 minutes of a show followed by 3 to 6 minutes of Commercials (or as we call them adds) and this repeats with show, adds, show, adds. But the show is always longer than the adds. Also the bbc only has adds between shows & some paid for channels are sometimes like this too. But many people with subscription tv (e.g. Sky tv) record stuff so they can fast forward through the adds still. In America commercials drive me nuts. How the heck do you watch anything it takes forever to watch a show there’s so many adds.

Waffles and pancakes are a dessert item, so would be weird for breakfast (though, I was aware of the stack of pancakes Americans would eat for breakfast). We just have more strict gun laws and regulations. That being said some of our laws and regulations are less strict than the US example : Here in the UK you can buy suppressors over the counter, no extra charge or waiting time. All we have to do is notify the police that we have just bought one and for what gun, there are also no restrictions on magazine or clip size in the UK. We can also own fully working tanks and yes that means with a fully working cannon, they just need to be road worthy. We can own guns for any reason other than self defence and there are plenty of people in the UK that own guns mostly for sport, hunting or pest control.

Hi guys. Hope you & your littles had a good Easter. 🐣🌼❤️ We are getting new shops opening that don’t even install cash registers. They are card only. But I still know places that only take cash. My local supermarket was 24/7 which was awesome. I am disabled and don’t sleep well, so shopping at 2am was quieter, less people, in fact mainly other disabled folks. Plus it was nice to have something to do when the horror channel closed for the night. Lol. A good friend moved to N Carolina. He often eats out with friends and his partner. I remember one of the first pics he posted of a fish restaurant. It blew my mind. It looked like a seafood banquet for 4. Seafood is my fave and I was as envious as hell. But I would never have been able to eat that whole platter. If you get lost here in the U.K., be prepared to get directions based on pubs. My dad was a pub directioner. “Go half a Mile until you pass the Ivy house and take the next road on the left. Keep going straight, you’ll pass The Pheasant Inn, turn left at the next junction and follow the road to the next junction. If you see the Sugar loaf inn you’ve gone too far. Turn left at the last junction, pass the White lion and the Pineapple, right at the roundabout. And you’ve just gone a 5 mile circle from my dads house and back again. Lol. I saw a video comparing U.K. & U.S dentistry. Free or very cheap work is just check ups, cleans and emergency fillings. Anything more or if your not entitled to free gets really expensive. My fellas last check up and clean cost about $300. Whitening is cosmetic so it’s never free. P.S. Nearly forgot. JT look up Alison Hammond, you had a clip of her in one of your JT meme vids. She is a day show host and so funny. (black lady, the best laugh ever, showed camera some cookies or cakes and they fell off the tray) Also look up Gino D’Acampo. An Italian Chef and presenter. You’ve had a couple of clips of him too. He has a fantastic understanding of English and the use of his accent to warp sentences. He’s also presented a cooking segment but naked on the same daytime show Alison co hosts. I think you and Anna would probably be able to do a video of each on their own.

Personally here in England you’d be hard pressed to find a decent size city or town without at least one high crazy guy spraying ‘Jesus Saves’ on EVERYTHING! Also there is a stereotype of people in Britain having buck teeth and bad dental care. I’ve lived here my whole life and I can count the amount of people I’ve seen or know in the UK on one hand if I was missing a finger! I honestly have no idea where that came from! Especially since the Romans invented the tooth brush while they resided in Britain.

Service with a smile is ok in especially up north It's just in London it's sometimes wired. I work in retail and I always smile and are to nice customers. Asking if you're ok a lot however can be irritating.

We seem to have something in Europe that is lacking in the US? Common sense!

I had to show ID today to vote. I’m not happy. 5:29 Playing by card is very normal but most people use debit cards not credit. Direct debits are very normal too (I think you call it autopay?) no one uses cheques.

Our commercials are much better laid out over here. When I visited the States, where commercials were placed at the beginning and end of programmes were so irritating.

I don't have any ID that shows my birthdate. Even my senior citizen's bus pass doesn't say it's given me on account of being so old. (Oh, wait there is my passport: I don't carry it everywhere even when abroad.) And Europeans are perfectly used to paying by card: we just find refusing cash very strange.

12:26 Our teeth (UK) aren't actually bad. It the same as any other country except USA, who are obsessed with titanium white incredibly straight teeth. They will even damage their teeth to make them 'look nice'.

In England it's meant to be challange 25, I know I have to make sure I check the ID or I could risk my job and jail and or the store being closed

First thing I did getting to NYC was IHOP for pancakes and bacon breakfast lol Bull crap on the ID. We are very strict here with drink laws. We have challenge 25 which means if the person looks under 25 you get ID'd. And it has to be a passport or drivers licence, in otherwords photo ID. Kids can drink one pint of cider or lager, or one glass of wine, with a meal if accompanied by an adult. And even then frowned upon depending on kids age. We don't have blocks here. It's streets. 3rd street on the left etc for directions Love wrestling here. In my opinion the WWF now WWE is the longest running soap opera ever lol We have Just Eat here which means you can order food almost 24/7. There are some small convenience stores in the larger cities that open 24/7 and a couple of supermarkets have 24hr shopping.

IDing a person who is obviously an adult is weird. Most of the time I don't even have id on me. I don't carry my driving licence with me and unless it is a newer licence it won't have a photo on (my brother's for instance is the older paper licence). I certainly don't carry my passport around, so IDing is just an odd thing to me. We do not have any formal ID card in the UK. They tried considering one but the backlash was huge, so the idea was dropped.

Just to say the dental care thing in the UK is BS. We don’t obsessively whiten our teeth to an unnatural white (teeth shouldn’t be pure white), but they aren’t all stained either. Statistically Brits teeth are straighter with less cavities than Americans because there are dentists available on the NHS. Although admittedly, they are hard to find nowadays.

UK is MAJORITY athiest or agnostic and there is still a large number of people that if asked for their religion put CofE (Church of England) because they just see it as conservative and conforming even though they have little to no religious beliefs and only go to church for weddings and funerals.

Refuse to buy things from places that won't accept cash. If people keep allowing this, then soon enough, you won't have any money of your own.

Wait!! What!! You mean to tell me you have stores where you are that don't accept cash? Well now that's down right UN American. Well Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Jersey have passed legislation that prevents businesses from requiring credit payment. These laws prohibit businesses from discriminating against cash buyers. 🤗

Whilst Americans have straighter and whiter teeth than us Brits they also have fewer teeth in the head per person than us because to get them so straight they have to often have some removed. British dental hygiene is generally better despite not necessarily being prettier
