I've never understood why US television shows always made fun of Canadians for being nice and friendly. As a Portuguese American now living in Portugal, I am so glad I made this decision a year ago to retire early at 52 and come here. I’m sad for the USA - I grew up in San Jose, Ca. People here are so great and they care about others especially the elderly.

THANK YOU! The America-haters are really coming out of the woodwork lately, so I appreciate your sympathy. There ARE a great many people in this country who are good and kind and decent. People everywhere need to understand that the President of the United States is NOT directly elected by citizens. Donald Trump was NOT voted for by a majority of the people of the U.S. Due to our electoral system, the inmates are indeed running this asylum, as it were. Many of us are just trying to stay alive and healthy. My 89-year-old mother and I have been self-quarantined since mid-March- I've been nowhere except to get food and necessities, and I know many many people who are in the same situation- we're not going to bars and beaches and amusement parks or taking boat rides. We're tired of living in a country which has been hijacked by crazy, evil criminals. Wish us luck in November!

I've never been one of those Canadians who peer sneeringly over the border, and (at least Pre-Trump), there's much I like about the US.. it's a dynamic, interesting country. Now, however, I could not be happier that I'm on the northern side of that border, living in a nation with decent public healthcare, a social safety net... and a population that, overall, doesn't have a problem wearing masks in order to protect others. I sincerely hope that you, and everyone else who despairs, find relief in November.. and after that, January. Hopefully the road there is smooth..... People who would most likely never make sweeping generalities about race or religion or color think nothing about indulging in these horrible stereotypes of Americans. @@ogivecrush I'm Canadian and I normally go to New England in the summer on holiday. In general, I've found most Americans to be friendly, generous people. Sure, some have political beliefs I don't agree with, but they are not necessarily rabid about it. I really dislike all the hate I see on YT. I think most Canadians, at least those that have been to the US, know that you are not all the ignorant fools we see on the news. I'm sorry to hear you've been stuck in side all this time.
@@blueredyoyo Thanks- I'm very thankful for what I have....I'm in a stable situation, I'm safe and sound- so many people are undergoing such hardship right now, and there's such uncertainty......so hard for parents and their children- such a struggle for so many just to stay afloat. We do work hard in this country and there's very little in the way of a safety net in times like these. A lot of folks really deserve better. It's heartbreaking.
Meanwhile, here in Melbourne, Australia we are having our second wave with around 300 new cases a day, locked down for another six weeks, masks are now mandatory, and we are close to stage four lockdown. And nearly everyone is complying with the mask rule, no protests, only a few people objecting because its what needs to be done. It’s not great, but if we keep doing what we should, we will come out of this in a few weeks. Sanity prevails.
K B even if you multiply 25x12 to make 300mil (roughly US pop) so you do 300 cases per dayx12, it’s still less than 4000 new cases a day, which means the new cases in America is TEN times what it is here.

America is literally the only country whose currency is specifically required to acquire a essential commodity. That means Canada can't sell its OWN oil and receive its OWN currency as compensation without first converting it to U.S. dollars. It's so unfortunate too, because it doesn't have to be. Our economy is actually rebounding already here in Canada, well there's a lot to make up for still of course loll, but apparently the growth was something like 5 times higher than expected, following a slow, careful and well planned out staged re opening of some sectors.
What's gross is the continual media lie. If covid is so apocalyptic, I don't see the reason for the neverending "whoopsies" to pad new case counts. Almost seems like the media has an agenda to keep this going until November....

This is an example of corporate greed and lack of common sense. The US company will say they meet State guidelines. But notice there are no passengers on the bottom deck ....no common sense. This is only making me want to go visit Canada even more now in a few years. Sucks my own country is being the absolute circus of the century. I somewhat enjoy being in America, but I hate being apart of its demise.
The boat is stationed in NY. In NY you are legally required to wear masks in public. In addition NY only has 608 active cases statewide. NY has managed to go from a huge disaster and brought the numbers way down. NY, unlike other states, stepped up and kept the state closed. Eventually, it started to open in stages with pauses to monitor the spread. Unfortunately, while there are idiotic people in the US both in government and in the private sector, you need to not mislead the public by assuming that what you are seeing represents what is actually happening. It’s bad journalism.
Don't give us Canadians too much credit... the lower population density is a big factor as far as communicable diseases are concerned. This is not to say that having more supports in place for workers to remain in quarantine to flatten the curve, and reopen more slowly was a bad idea.
Can Americans please stay in America for now? I’m from the west coast of Canada and keep seeing American tourists around despite US and Canada borders being closed. They claim that they’re just travelling through because they live up in Alaska and need to get home. I understand that, but that does not excuse people from the states sticking around my hotel’s area for a week.
Even today I drove by our lake/beach here and it was packed to the gills with young people and none of them were socially distancing nor wearing masks. Sad part is I had to get tested for Covid today as I have a minor surgery this week and the drive up testing was packed with teenagers and young adults getting tested.
There's only so much of this we can blame on government.. we've known for months to STAY TF AT HOME but nooooOOooo.. folks gotta party, folks need haircuts, folks wanna get married with no caution.. and then the same people don't even wanna be bothered to wear masks.. if your leaders aren't leading then you be a decent human being until you can get someone who WILL lead.. people are just too selfish to consider inconveniencing themselves for a short term to have a better long term 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
We have idiots over here in Canada too, believe me. I believe the stay at home laws, public health policy, and economic support for those unable to work are the main reasons we're doing OK now.

I'm homeless. I don't care bout the world anymore. People wise that is. I'm very much hated because I pick junk dumped on trails an the side of the road. The department of transportation especially hates me because the Bicycles I build are full of DoT violations.

Can’t expect the tour company to abide by non existent physical distancing regulations. That’s supposed to be where Albany, and moreover Washington are supposed to intervene.
Proud to be Canadian! It is common to practice physical distancing and wearing masks here. However, we are not perfect, and there are still things we can do better. But compared to the US, we're in better shape. Hope the our southern neighbors get better!
