I watched this a few years ago, and started playing it last year. Been pretty much addicted to it. Also, it pretty much MADE ME buy a whole rig (wheel, pedals), had to update my whole computer with a better graphics card, memory, SSD, then Motherboard and processor too (might as well, right). And now, I have a TH8A on the way with the SKRS. And why not, VR as well. In other words, watching this video has cost me well over $2,000 USD. Thanks Squirrel!!!
And your life, as is mine, is better for having watched this video. I was hooked on ATS as far back as 2013, when Squirrel interviewed Pavel Sebor and talked about the game. Then I saw the screenshots on the SCS Blog and the rest is history.
Thank you for your service Squirrel! You're putting in so much effort and time to deliver all this content. Yet all of your videos feel like you also contribute a lot of heart and soul to the mix. Hat tip to you!
I am so excited for this. I have been playing and making the best out of ETS2 for a very long time! I absolutely cannot wait to get on the roads where I am more familiar will. It's been good ETS2, thanks for everything. Great job on the video!
This is not a review. More like a feature overview/advert for your own videos. Edit: for example at 6:00 he's talking about the variety of vehicles. During this he shows a recording of the highway with around 7 to 8 cars driving by, of which 3 ar the same model AND of those 3, 2 are exactly the same colour as well...
+Thomqa z. He never really makes good reviews, he's better to stick with stuff like "Let's Play..." videos, where he actually plays it. His videos for ATS so far including this one are like ads, the ones after are better.
Nice review, Sir! Must be nice to finally release footage of ATS! ;) I played ETS2 for a year now, and have been using your modsheet! Thanks for that! It's very helpful!! Almost can't wait 'till wednesday
Really nice! Can't wait for these map expansions, going to be cool doing cross country routes that could take more than one day to do! Idk if that will happen but this is definitely going to be worth 20 dollars.
"You can turn right on red." :-D sorry but it is strange for me to hear some one say that like it is unusual. I know why but it is still odd to hear having lived most of my life in the states.
+Jim Redtalon There is plenty of "turn right" places in Europe, it's reversed though, you usually get a form of green arrow to the right. At the same time, I encountered plenty of "no right turn on red" signs in US.
I've been waiting for this for a long time. No more avoiding Briton to drive on the wrong side of the road. and no more 55mph speed limits. Now on to the road in a big rig, when I park my big rig at the truck stops. LOL
Finally, turning right on a red. That is the one thing in ETS2 that was driving me up the wall. Nothing more crazy than sitting at a red waiting to turn right.
Florida is the worst place to be here lol. Well.driver wise. NYC is horrible with a trailer, and so is D.C. ... Boston and Chicago are also really bad.
Sorry that's simply stunning! To a kid that played the original 80's games I can't believe how good it looks. Plan to get back into games this year after I stopped around 2007. New rig later this year high end for Elite etc but this looks amazing fun. As always a good review. Used to love my sims but they were dodgy flight ones. Trucking around like in the Convoy movie 👍 All we needs is smokey and the bandit add on passing you 😊.
You should mention that, with a steering wheel, the best wheels are those that can be programmed internally to 900 degrees of rotation or as close as possible, making the game feel much more realistic.
I like the look and feel of ATS.. At first I wasn't thinking about getting it because I'm still enjoying the hell out of ETS but the vid made me reconsidder.. Great work Paul and... Keep on truckin'! ;)
+X8X8X8X8X8X8X8X8X8X I think she Works for Jim Palmer if I Remember Right but Trucker Josh is best he will Go thru Canada over to newfoundland to anywhere
I really hope that SCS will bring DLC for the east coast in the future, especially a New England DLC. Being able to drive up into Maine and drive the Golden Road logging road would be amazing.
Hah, I like how all the trucks @7:37 are pulled in forward in the truck parking spots. In real life, they back in. Which btw, can be quite interesting once the parking lots get full.
I'm enjoying the game, but it's kinda hard to believe a game all about truck driving doesn't have more depth. Not getting out of the cab, ever. Cops don't actually pull you over they just text message you a ticket. No visible damage done to vehicles. There are so many places in this game where there should be a traffic light and there are none, and these very spots are often strangely busy with traffic. There are also way too many classic cars driving around. Overall the game does a decent job of simming the life of a truck driver i guess lol :D.
Squirrel, the AI trolling you at every turn is actually what I deal with on a daily basis as an actual truck driver here in the U.S.....I think that is one of the few spot on things they have lol. I would like them to have the cars speed around you recklessly and have the option to turn down your company trucks just to troll your drivers hehe.
Just ordered my PC last week, Getting excited to play this, although My outdated laptop would only play ETS2 on low-Medium settings at 20-30FPS. Here are the features, - AMD Eight-Core FX-8320 Vishera processor 3.50GHz (with a max turbo speed of 4.0GHz), 8MB L3 Cache - 8GB DDR3 SDRAM system memory (expandable to 16GB) - 1TB SATA hard drive - AMD R7-360 Graphics With 2GB graphics memory I know Space won't be a problem with 1TB. Will these Specs be strong enough for ETS2 and ATS?
All I honestly care about is whether dropping off the trailer at the destination is going to actually involve some skill in backing a trailer up or if its going to be the same old empty wide open totally inefficient trailer depots that offer no challenge. One of the things that always let me down in ETS2 was driving for half an hour only to find out that my drop off point was an empty lot with nothing in it to make delivery remotely difficult.
+BollocksUtwat Yes, SCS have been working on a redesign of the trailer drop-off system for ATS. It will allow you to choose between not parking at all, standard parking and more challenging parking. However, I don't know if it's going to be in the game at launch, or if it's going to be an added feature in the future.
Is anyone else having occasional freeze ups during the RU-vid video or is it just me. Does that mean my eleven year old monitor is finally giving up? This isn't the only video that is doing this, others are too! Is this youtube or my monitor, or even my internet? Anyway great video. Soo excited for ATS even though my old computer can't handle it, yours can so I can watch you play it! :)
Here is the thing,I wanted to buy this game, but after seeing your stream and realize that you basically finished 47% of the map in just 10 hours, kinda made me wanna wait until the missing stuff is added.I don't like the fact that we can't get more trucks at launch(those 2 trucks look nice but i really wanted to drive a classic American truck )and 2 states is not that much(Like i said in the beginning you almost finished half the game in 10 hours) .I will buy this game, but only when they will add those 2 missing pieces. In my opinion they should've waited another month, just so they can add everything at once. Also the fact that they teased,in a picture, that a new DLC will/may come for ETS 2 that will contain the rest of France almost makes me wanna wait and spend the money on that dlc instead of ATS.But that's just my opinion.
thanks Paul enjoyed your stream today from 11 glad you pointed out its got to be 64 bit ime glad I got that my ETS is on highest graphic settings hope I ok. I. new game ATS keep on trucking enjoy truckers get on that road 😊😊
Euro Truck Simulator was released in 2008. Euro Truck Simulator 2 was released over four years later, in 2012. Wasn't ETS2 a big update from ETS? American Truck Simulator was released 3.5 years after ETS2, and it seems like... a new map and more detail but the rest is the same.
I have an Asus strix gtx 960 4g and I feel like it was made for this game..this graphics card runs the game at high settings perfectly. I believe they came out around the same time (2017)....I just got a gaming pc for ONLY 175$ usd..just to play ats...I’m absolutely addicted to this game!!! You can find me on truckersmp...see you out there boiys!!..✌🏼cheers
I forgot to say it also down to the codec that is used when uploading and live streaming - I watch youtube video in 1080p but due to a bad codec it looks like 480p! Paul uses great settings that shows in his videos
I just subscribed to your channel.. I've had ATS since December, I have my own cool KW 500 HP Cat, 18 speed, next to the best chassis and about $85,000 american dollars in the bank. I've been doing good at driving and choosing the hardest (top) parking situation ( a lot of blind sided parking spots which you don't find in real life) but an external view of the truck helps that. I'm currently using a Logitech Attack 3 which was purchased in the years 2000 when I got Flight Simulator. It has a lot of buttons, and actually it works fairly decent with the game but I do want to up grade to one of the steering wheels that you mentioned here. I currently down -loaded the game from a company called Steam for $19.95. There are new mods I saw, one is wheels, I think one is paint and one is Arizona, however I got Arizona with my recent down load. For the most part the game runs smooth on a Hewlet packard Lap top HP Pavilion with AMD A8 and beats audio added. Other than that it's a factor 15" screen lap HD laptop. I've been really enjoying this game. Between 11 buttons on the attack joy stick controller and a few keys on the key board, i've been getting by pretty good. I have not learned how to start my own garage and hire a driver, last time I tried it said I didn't have enough money, so that is in the future. I also have limited access into "The World of Trucks" that came with this current down load off Steam, but I've yet to talk to other players etc. Thanks for this video... I hardest thing I found to do was set up my buttons on my controller and key board to do and see the things I needed, that took some major learning time. I was awhile finding the on line hand book so most of what I learned I found by accident like adjusting the GPS, etc. I also wish the Map had truck repair place shown, it's missing that, another down fall of the game but rest areas are shown. However the GPS has everything, if you drive long or far enough you are bound to run into what you need. I just wish my driver didn't have to sleep so often, has made for some late deliveries.. LOL..... thanks....
i play Euro truck 2 a lot and this is exactly the same game, the game, the menus everthin, I'm disappointed i was expecting something more. personally i would save your money because you can mod euro truck 2 to look like this game anyway and it's free ha.
Before I say anything I know I can easily get a 64-bit computer (and I'm working on it), it makes me a little sad that I won't be able to enjoy this game right now because I only have a crappy 32-bit laptop XD. Anyway, I'm really excited to watch your videos on this game!! :D
i thought this was just gonna be the exact same as ETS but in the USA but was i wrong this looks amazing everything about it :) cant wait til wednesday to play
at first I was like, ehh i'll wait until it has more states. But nevermind, i'm buying it on the 3rd! I can't wait for NJ and PA! PS please tell SCS to implement the Hope Creek Nuclear Plant :P! Happy trucking!
There's one soar point that hasn't yet been addressed, that is online multiplayer gameplay. How cool it would be to drive alongside other players! There are some half baked third party apps for that but that's a hit or miss.
It's not a lot to start off with, and it is basically just DLC in spirit, but it's priced right for what it is. I plan to pick it up, because I've gotten kind of bored with the scenery in ETS2, and it looks like they really focused on making ATS interesting and varied. That I believe is worth the $20. More trucks will come, another state is in the works, and both are said to be free. After that, we'll have to see. Now if they'd just put it up for sale on Steam...
Route 66 is not a trucker "run" in the states. It was the first continuous route way back when. Now it is collections of forgotten and broke ass little towns bordering an unused road because we built modern highways to replace it.
+Will Baack Yeah i moved out to the St Louis metro area. Im on the illinois side and you see signs all over for the "Historic Route 66". The sign will usually have two years on it. Like today passing through Wordon IL I saw a 66 sign that read 1928-1934. Not sure the significance of that but anyhow. Plus the Chain of Rocks bridge which I believe 66 used to flow across is closed for motor traffic as its too narrow, and theres an interesting 30 degree bend in the middle of the bridge. Not sure if thats the exact angle. It would be nice to get on parts of 66 but I doubt we will be able to follow it all the way. Id like to do an I-70 run, or I-95, Bangor to Key West! Heck even US Route 1 would be fun.
In other words, it's still a massive "wait and see" until we know how much extra content will be added, and what the pricing structure of that content will be. Really disappointing to see no DX11 support, which in my opinion is fairly inexcusable, particularly since the game is now 64-bit only. It's a good start, but that's all it is right now IMO.
yes indeed it plays like ETS 2 The scenery is amazing the trucks are amazing due the minors points its a good solid game for a award for best simulation game 2016 wait before other trucks and maps
Btw, is it only available on steam atm? I dun really like steam and im planning on getting the digital download instead. I went to the ATS website but it doesn't show that i can buy the game without using steam. By any chance, do you know if it's gonna be available for download on the website maybe like a day after?
The only thing that kind of annoys me that i saw in this video is that the exits off the highways look different than your typical American roadway designs. But so far for them going from European to American it's a very impressive change and they did well overall.
I have played both ETS2 and this. I'm only playing ATS cause I like good graphics. Thats sums up the game, if you are planning to get this dont expect much. I expected a bit more than just a graphical update. I was hoping they could have added at-least: 1. Dust in Windshield, its dusty in the highways. no road is so clean. No AC, no fog, no winters, just rainy fog 2. Windows get cracked, trucks body get a dent and all. Why only the mechanics get damaged. Is this truck or armored car. Even that will get destroyed in an accident. 3. Police is a nice touch, getting humans in it is not so easy but the police car should atleast make you stop and waste your time, give a ticket to you and there could be a cut scene. 4. I would have like it if could see the my other drivers, driving the truck on the way sometimes or even in my Garage standing next to the truck. Kind a cool right! 5. When you go into the company to load goods or drop, there's no other truck. Get some trucks there on the way, loading offloading a bit of traffic adjusting. 6. There should be off roads, where they are not that good, bumpy ditches here and there get the truck suspension to work. Nothing like that in the game. 7. Since its a sim game, would have been cool if I could see my Drivers hands on the steering (same old EURO TRUCK with no hands), I could roll up and down my side windows, open trucks door and get out for rest to a hotel or go in the back seat. 8. I would have liked to see Bikes and bicycles too in the game. Harley's, US is famous for those. 9. Finally, not a bad game at all, but if you have played ETS2, I dont see no difference in this game apart from seeing cops and great graphical update. No difference in Gameplay. They took there time in releasing a new game, I believe these guys dont have a too big staff like EA and they release FIFA each year with pretty decent updates here and there. Since this is a small staff working on, not bad at all. But if you are releasing a new game, atleast make some difference and many users previously also wanted the basic above things that I mentioned during ETS2, I am sure developers would have noticed these type of comments, maybe they are working on another game in future. i so hope that we get another nice game on SIMULATION in future.
Just bought this game last week, I must say the trucks feel heavier and harder to control especially when turning or reverse parking. In that respect I still prefer ETS to ATS. Plus all the drivers you hire look the same, could have at least changed that to make it "feel" like a new game.
I hope there's a mod allowing me to switch from MPH to KPH. I loathe the Imperial system. Great video review, I hope they add Canada at the very least... ice road trucking in the far Canadian North would be so cool.
