if you enjoy the game i suggest getting a wheel. even if it's not a full force feedback wheel, handling with a wheel really brings out the best gameplay experience. I got a Thrustmaster T150 and got the Thrustmaster shifter as well with the 3 pedal set and im really enjoying this game a lot. here's a tip also - get the long distance skill points when levelling up, that's where the good starting money is. subbed :)

I've been playing ATS and ETS for a number of years and i have only ever played using the keyboard. its lumpy at times but it does the job. i also went through all the basic functions and keyboard mapped them to where they work best for me. theres some basic principles we all learn as we go along. All the trucks are set up like in real life. the road laws are there.... you just have to obey them (or turn them off).. and things like fuel... when you are starting out, the truck you are allocated has enough fuel for the job. you shouldnt need to top up unless you screw up and go the wrong way! if you put fuel in it comes out of YOUR pocket and not the truck owner. i know it says they cover the expenses but thats the tank of fuel you had to start with. I saw you sort the jobs highest price per mile first... exactly what i do but even then i pick and choose the run you want. sometimes i just want to do lots of short runs. Also, when starting out, i never bothered with the exact parking.. i know you get more XP for this but until i was well used to the steering... i took the easy way out ^^ once you get your first truck... the real fun begins though so keep at it. and dont forget, you can upgrade your truck as you go. you might have to start with a day cab but you can add a sleeper later. Oh and the NPC cars and stuff... they are the dumbest buttheads ever! worse then real life ones! they will get in your way, cut you off, crash into you all the time!

Yeah, the AI drivers really are buttheads! I hope you'll watch the other videos in this series, as I have since bought a steering wheel and pedals, bought a truck (not my first ever, tho) Now I'm playing with mods!

Hey I know your channel isn't the biggest but you do have a fan/ support base. I think it's great that you enjoy trucking simulators and able to make a few bucks while in the comfort of your own home and others viewing enjoyment. A great option to take especially if you are retired (not sure if you are). But I wouldn't give up real trucking 100% but rather cut your real trucking down a bit while doing some simulator games. Whatever your financial situation is you know.

If you ever consider playing a lot, Investing in a wheel makes the game a lot better. I bought the Thrustmaster T150 around 8years ago and its still working. Tough and cheap 👍

The way he turned around to park his first delivery! Thank you for that! I didnt think of that, I always wondered the in the world do I park in a tight spot like that, since I'm not a real trucker, I wouldn't have known. So thank you for showing me something so obvious tho, a 3 ish point turn lol! I'm confident in my turning, parking a trailer with plenty of space in stuff but not parking a trailer in tight spots like this and a articulated low bed trailer. I still can't back those up, but I've seen IRL videos how to back up a B train trailer and articulated trailers. Still can't do it. And thats why truckers are professional drivers

Glad to see you still respond to comments on this older video. As I'm sure you know by now, the latest update has added some really cool stuff in many departments, we now have uneven terrain that actually affects handling, some new stuff with the career management system, new doppler sound enhancements and get this - even adaptive cruise control 😊. The sim is very enjoyable and I have whiled away many many hours. I too have a large company with a bunch of trucks and drivers out there making money for me. I find that I also enjoy watching you drive and listen to your commentary as you go. I have never been a real driver other than to be a spotter for around a year in the Burlington Northern rail yard in Cicero Illinois. Never over the road - until ATS came along of course, lol. Think I'll be doing more ride-alongs with you. StayWell brother and keep it between the rumble strips LOL😊 The one thing I would thrill to them adding would be the ability to occasionally encounter your own employee trucks on the road as well if you happen to be in the same area at the same time. THAT would be awesome 😊

I do pass my employee trucks on the road now that I have a Virtual Trucking Company and dedicated servers. My "employees" are real people from all over the world. :You might see it happen in a live stream.

If you did not know a lot of drop off places in CA and early states were designed for Europen Truck Simulator hence they can be very tight for American trucks - as the game expanded and developed drop off areas have been changed and made for just American Trucks

@@Myotradventure | Yeah. At first, ATS was meant to be a smaller world. They released it in 1:35 scale, but had some issues, and then they rebuilt the map in 1:20, which gave more room for comfort. And since ETS2 is in 1:19 scale by default, it only made sense to give it the same treatment. Worked out in the end. It allowed for bigger cities with wider roads, to accomodate the needs of american trucks. European trucks are shorter, but that allows for longer trailers. Still gotta be a master to make in city turns, with all the tight spaces.

You are doing well with keyboard my friend, it's good to watch a newbie starting the game. Takes me back although I started with a Logitech GT which is a great little wheel, I now have a Logitech G27 and a RSKS shifter knob with a splitter/range change and exhaust brake buttons on, just like when I use to drive trucks years ago for a living. I also play ETS2 but I love the cab over classic trucks (Freight Liner so on) mods for ATS, you will enjoy and transform the game greatly once you get into mods, although I do have a profile that is completely vanilla based and I just contract drive on that one and still enjoy the game. I started just like you with the keyboard, and then started using the mouse to steer (HUGE difference) I then got myself an Xbox one controller for PC and I've been using that ever since! It's a huge improvement, and makes it more enjoyable. It even vibrates when you're going over a speed bump, or some terrain. There's so many settings to adjust and it can be quite complex at first. Anyways, just wanted to share my thoughts and suggestions. From one real driver to another, keep the greasy side down and keep up with the great content! Take care from Ontario, Canada.

Yes, mods does add that extra “WOW” factor lol. It’s very addictive, and the developers do an amazing job keeping it current and just gets keeps getting better, and better! I’ve managed to earn over $200,000,000 in game and I’ve lost count on how many drivers and garages I have haha. Enjoy!

Watching your video while eating and wanted to say that if you go to the workshop on ATS. There is a icon mod that you can download for the game. It will create the lines for parking spaces at the locations you deliver to. It works great, was one of the first mods I used in the game. It makes backing trailers up a bit easier.

I’ve downloaded a few mods already but haven’t installed any just yet. Not sure how I feel about a mod that adds the lines everywhere because in the real world a lot of places don’t have them. It would make it easier but less real. I’ll check it out, though.

I'm watching you from Mexico. I've been playing this game pretty much since launch and I really enjoy seeing someone taking things so serious and doing real sim style and not reckless driving. I could use some advice at maneuvering because you rock at that. Planning on getting a more powerful PC and the wheel to enjoy the simming even more. So far, I have been using the XBOX controller. Great content. Keep it up. And, I am still wondering what the red arrow at 21:30 was for, hehe.

Thanks Roberto García! That red arrow was pointing at something at a different time in the video. During the editing process I cut something out or added something before that time and the layer that the arrow was on didn't get moved with whatever it was pointing at. I didn't realized my mistake until well after the video went live. What kind of maneuvering do you need helps with?

@@Myotradventure Usually, reversing is my nemesis. But I saw the maneuver you did at the little grocery store at the end of this video (Which I usually have problems with) and that got me a clearer idea of what to do. Being a rookie at trucking (I've never driven a semi in real life) I sometimes go for the arcade style in which you make turns that would sure damage the cab or the trailer. Now after seeing your videos, I will take these approaches to do a more realistic maneuver. Thanks for replying, it is really nice from you.

Greets from The Netherlands! Cool to see another colleague trucker that spents his time behind the wheel at home. Many people I know don't understand this. "So you come home from a days work, have dinner and go behind the wheel in front of your monitor"? Yep, I do! I like the sound of yor microfoon, what are you using? And if you're looking for a good steering wheel. I recomment the Logitech 29 + pedals and use a RSKR shifter. The wheel is made of leather and has a great feel. Important (to me) question. Hope you still see comments to this year-old video. In this vid, you say that you set up "Real Automatic" gearbox for use with keyboard. I'm trying to do that and have failed. I merely changed "Simple Automatic" to "Real Automatic" in Gameplay options, then tried to use the default keys (Shift for up-shift, Ctrl for down-shift). When I start my truck, the gearbox shows "A4". I can press Ctrl and it changes to "N". Press Ctrl again, and it goes to "R1". But when I try to accelerate, it changes to "N" and I sit there watching the tach go up and down. Do you recall how you set yours up? Hope you can help me out. Been binge watching all your vids in this playlist, and enjoying greatly. Thanks for your vids, and for your help.

Hi Dave! I've long since switched to fully manual shifting with a physical. shifter and topper; but as I recall, with simple automatic you don't shift at all, just forward or reverse. A4 indicates that your truck is in Automatic & 4th gear. The gearbox will handle all shifting. Pressing the CTRL key will stop back to Neutral and then Reverse. Pressing Shift will go back to Neutral and then Forward. Simple Automatic is what you want if you're using just the keyboard. Real Automatic is primarily for using a steering wheel & pedals. Check to make sure you have your transmission set to Simple Automatic in both Options>Gamplay, as well as Options>Controls.

the parking space you got at the destination at the end of the video isn't even the worst one. I don't know how many times i've gotten the space between the wall and the other trailer. Impossible for me to get it in there. sometimes it's very very difficult to manually park the trailer.

As someone living in Sweden while i like the US trucks they are big and horrible to maneuver compared to our cab overs. Hoping to get my license to drive heavy trucks soon(tm) then i need to find the money to get the heavy trailer to. At some point you can add Pro Mods to that will add some part of Canada.

@@Myotradventure Yeah Sweden but even more so Norway have some amazing scenery, and Norway also have some very tight roads, if i only get my Truck license i will most likely be doing more local deliveries around Stockholm, would love to to do the 800+ km drives up north with truck and trailer, but it is not free to get the license.

For those not wanting to pony up for a $300-500 steering wheel rig, a good 3-axis joystick is a reasonable compromise. I've got the Logitech G Extreme 3D Pro ($30 at Amazon) and it's way better than using the keyboard.

I've had good luck driving (steering) with my mouse. Head movement with mouse+right button. Don't know if I will ever purchase a wheel for one game. Have no other games that need wheel.

Hi there, You can make your truck, your trailer movement more realistic if you pull down (full left) the three setup options for those in the gameplay setup. Next to these three options I suggest to change the strenght of the brake lighter, make a little bit bigger deadzone for the steering wheel, setup more road events and more rain a little bit. And real air system usage, etc. You will see how will the game become more realistic. Note: I love simulators so I invested not just into a gamer steering wheel with pedals but a head movement follower truckIR 5 system and an H-shifter as well. In this way I can see around freely in the cabin so I can use the own sidemirrors of the truck, I can lean ahead for a better view on dashboard (you can change datas on that, just saying) or lower to see a traffic light ahead. And with the shifter the feeling to drive these monsters is more authentic. Ok, you have got experience from the real world but I have left only the simulator to get close for diving a truck. And with my age (47) I am pretty sure I won't drive trucks in my life especially not in the US. Just keep going.

Hi Peter, You're a few videos behind; I've got most of those settings already dialed in and now have a steering wheel & pedals, but not a shifter yet. I do plan to get a head tracker next, though. BTW, I didn't become a truck driver until I was 50! Assuming you don't have other constraints; wife, kids at home, etc. you could do the trucking thing. I recommend watching some of my daily trucking vlogs to get a feel for what the lifestyle is like. Later!

@@Myotradventure Hi, Thanks for your quick reaction. Yeah, as you see I just started to watch your gameplay videos and I am watching where you buy your first own truck yet. I just realized as you wrote you get your wheel. Yeah, a trackIR will be a wery handy stuff your plan to get one is a great idea. And I am sure you will enjoy that. One important thing for that: avoid a backgound source of light or any reflection from your back because that can disturb the tracking system. About me as a truckdriver: I live in middle of Europe. Here trucking is a little bit different considering not just relatively short distances and dense road network but the countries, rules and salaries. More, I think I save more as a civil engineer than a truckdriver here. So I stay át simulators ans your videos. 😉

That's a great time about the TrackIR; it shouldn't be a problem with my green screen behind me, but one of my side lights could be an issue. I'll remember that; thanks. I announced the other day that I would make my first ETS2 video once my channel reaches 5,000 subscribers and I'm getting close. I might do that as early as next weekend! I plan to start in Frankfurt, which is pretty central. Are you anywhere near there?

Everyone says to add mods, and I will, but I want to ease into it. I love the game out of the box and have logged lots of time in it, but I just started recording videos of it and just got a steering wheel. Anyway, baby steps...

id also check out some map add ons, promods is a good start. mexico if it still works, loads great maps to add on to base dlc's unsure current ones as not played in an age but you give me a temptation to fire up the game again :). wombat trucker RU-vid channel normally good for maps and map mods load orders as it get complicated when your mixing many addon maps

@@Myotradventure id say if you want more realism, then id defo change these settings in the game menu, Truck and Trailer Stability + Suspension and cabin suspension stiffness and brakes too. id reduced them until it feels real. currently they maxed out so it like driving on rails. reduce them, you be amazed how it feels, and more lean on corners. id look for some classic trucks on the mods, there normally cheaper to buy as well :)

Ah, so that scale thing is something you have to do in real life too? What is the purpose of this? (press C for cruise control)... BTW, it is a good habit to open those "question marks" as they may unlock new truck brands you can drive or a new recruiting center...This will allow you to hire more drivers when you buy more trucks for your company.

Those scale houses are checking to make sure your axel weights are within legal limits. When they weigh your truck, they are weighing each axel group, steers, drives & trailer tandems and also provide a total. @@Myotradventure yeah, it's really not a joy, but I thought that's the reason why drivers want to be more skilled in trailer parking. So, why do you using 3rd person view in parking? It would be cool to see how professional trucker parks with driver's seat perspective just like in real life. I know, that ingame parking situations nearly ridiculous, but it's where fun begins, no?)

It varies. It can range from less than a minute if it's not busy to several minutes if trucks are backed up. In real life trucks rarely have to stop, just roll at idle speed over the scale. You know I’m starting to like this and I really want this game but I need a pc and then I need a monitor and the game and all that stuff adds up pretty quickly and IRL my dad has a 1979 peterbilt cabover with a big cam Cummins 13 speed and we pull 74 bins of apples and thats like 90,500- 107,000 lbs so that truck has a lot of horse power fastest we have ever driven it was 104 mph

As a real driver how well do you think Americans trucking simulator represents to real trucking? I expect the drive times are alot shorter but outside that I'm interested in hearing your thoughts.

It represents operating the trucks quite well. There are so many other things in trucking that are not represented well, or at all; like checking in & out at shippers & receivers, getting out to open & close your trailer doors in all weather conditions, adjusting the trailer tandems before and after docking, etc. But it's still awesome! The driving times are abbreviated quite a bit, but not so much as to make the game unplayable.

I turn off eveything that's ANNOYING like traffic lights, cops, stop signs, detures, governers, etc. I consider those mere suggestions. Some of my road trips are in the style of Mad Max and Duel. I installed a 5000 hp motor and invulnerability. Makes this a lot more fun. My highest speed was 120mph and I consider red and yellow cars TARGETS! (grins) Oh, I played the game straight up to earning $10,000,000 as a real sim. but... I got bored so went rogue nation/mad max. Have a lot more fun running reds, stop signs, and targeting those AIs that annoy me.

Good question! I think it has more to do with having the right kind of truck, with a more powerful engine, to be able to effectively pull the oversize loads which pay more.

Truck Specs? To my knowledge, no. I've had a copy of ATS since release week in 2016. AI Driver 'levels' though DO have an effect on their income and their maintenance costs against the player's bank account. I used hacks to get a fat bank account to do whatever I want so the only thing I have to focus on is driving and enjoying the new maps and scenery. I've played an SCS trucking title since 2004. The ONLY ones I've not played are 18 Wheels of Steel: Convoy, and Euro Truck Simulator (Original). I started with ETS2 but dumped it once ATS came around. I only fired it off for the first time in 2 years 2 nights ago just to check on how much the play area has expanded. I can safely say SCS has made incredible improvement over the years. (and once you get your bugs worked out, running ATS in VR is an unbeatable experience).

hi why did you delete your profile as you can have multi profiles in the game . im using 3 in ats and 4 in ets , ,, did you learn how to re configer the keys to your personal choice , and set your truck up , by round level 10 you should be able to buy truck , and up grade depot to 3 , then hire drive to drive your truck and do quick jobs , the money will roll in , thats how i do it , by level 15 we,re pulling in around 250,375 ,000 , and so on

The game designers have done a good job of replicating much of the real world roads. Their not perfectly recreated, by any means, but close enough for a simulation like this.
