Dear people ( who’ve never heard of nz and wanna try the snacks) you can NOT put THAT much marmite on the toast. The proper way is to put a tiny bit of butter on the toast let it melt and only THEN do you put a TINY bit of marmite on the toast

The Lemon and Paeroa name comes from mixing lemon with a natural sparkling spring ( i.e. fizzy ) near the town of Paeroa in the North Island. At least that's what I've always been told

@@MorganMarieWolff paeroa has a massive l&p bottle, alot of people take a photo in front of (a must :) ). Also when they fix the damage after the cyclone (i hope you and yours did ok) there is an amazing hike near by call "Karangahake Windows Walk" that's absolutely beautiful, even has glowworms in the tunnels.

as a kiwi we would put butter on the the toast and only a thinlaer of marmite because it is strong but it is full of vitamins you can also put a bit in a casserole or stew, it has a similar salty effect to soy sauce in cooking

There was once printed on the Marmite jar label; may still be. "Too much spoils the flavour" - its true. Paerora is the township near the East coast of the upper North Island and up the road a bit from Tauranga. At one time the naturally accruing sprng water aka Branch water in the American South was used to produce L&P. Now owned by Coca-Cola and made in or around the great South Pacific city of Auckland. I was born here in NZ, yet seldom needed to venture too far away from the State highway system. Outside, there be Dragons🙂 Not really that adventurous I guess, eh.

My medium sized jar was new at the tim and just lasted me the year or so until the factory was fixed up and production started again. I don't eat it too often so I was ok. But there were also people listing half used jars for huge prices on Trademe. And they were selling.

Queen Anne Peppermint chocolate fish is the best with a cup of coffee its so good together for some reason and L&P is really good to drink when it's a hot summer day i also mix L&P with a good spiced Rum. Always microwave your cookie time for 30 seconds it goes soft and the chocolate chunks are melted. Marmite is best on hot toast with lots of butter and a little bit of marmite on top

Oh god, no! Marmite/Vegemite should be used sparingly. like, heaps of butter on the toast first, then a tiny amount of spread so the colour of the butter changes... we need to start adding instructions on the label. Too many foreigners spread it like peanut butter. It ain't peanut butter. And definitely pop the Cookie Time cookie in the microwave for a few seconds.

I eat my toast, as others have pointed out here - butter and then an even smear - here and there. Cuppa Tea with milk, then dunk the toast in the tea. Little bit at a time. That right there is the bomb. My ex-wife ( New Yorker ) tried it one day….and that was that. She ate more of it than I did - same way. Cracked me up no end! Kiwi kids are raised on it, just like American kids are on Peanut Butter, here in the US. Every kid is shipped off to school with a sammie of bread,butter and Marmite in their Lunch Box. It’s actually very good for you - but an acquired taste. I was cracking up, when I saw you take the toast without butter. “Ruh row,first mistake..bet she bangs a ton of marmie on it now….oooohh….here we go…yep…mistake number two..hahahaha”. Try this one day - it’s another school kids “staple” diet. Two pieces of bread, one buttered and smeared Marmite. Then put some Chicken Chips on top, place the other piece of bread on top - and push it down. That right there is true Kiwiana! “Chips”…When I first moved to the US, I was in SoCal. Went to a B/King and ordered a Burger and two large “Chips”…..dead silence on the speaker…and then the guy told me they didn’t sell “Chips” - Ex yells out “Large Fries!!”. Chips ( Crisps ) Hot Chippies ( Fries ) so easy eh? Great vlog. Keep it up! Making me Homesick. Cheers!

Then I spread some kind of buttery spread like margarine or better yet butter. Then a thin coating of Marmite. I then put a slice of tomato. Followed by some nice cheese of choice, Wack that under the broiler till the cheese gets bubbly and Vie Oh La snack is ready.

The steepest street in the world ,which is in New Zealand ,has an annual Jaffa run ,thousands of Jaffa's are rolled down it each year .Also ,growing up in the eighties ,when at a movie theater you had to roll some Jaffa's down the aisle 'tradition'. They are more than a coated lolly .also Aucklanders are called Jaffa's .Please don't call a Aucklander a Jaffa in person ,it's a insult.
@nathanadler8316
@nathanadler8316 Год назад
To elaborate, the aisles in cinemas back then were usually wooden, and stepped down in line with the seat rows. So rolling a jaffa from the back row made a fair bit of noise in a quiet cinema.

I think you'd prefer Rainbow Confectionary over Pascall's. Rainbow is GF and has real fruit juice in it. It's also NZ made (Pascall's pulled out of NZ and make their 'Kiwi classic sweets' in Australia... not as good as they were). Also look into Maycey's confectionery. Smoker lollies... what Americans call "musk" flavour. To improve the texture of Jet Planes, let them go stale! This is how they were eaten in the 1970s and that staleness makes all the difference.

As a snack connoisseur, idk why people recommended this mid af snacks 😂 best chips are heartland Tokyo tang (Wasabi mayo flavour) maple bacon or their salt and vinegar, with dip, classic onion is all good but the tararua gerkhin dip is amazing, and rashuns, not twisties or burger rings RASHUNS, lollies, natural confection company is the best, chocky breakaways are my current jam but Whittakers are where it's at, hazelnut and almond gold are my personal favorites, also l&p good, deep spring better, the white and green one

When it comes to people from overseas trying snacks like NZ biscuits, everyone will take a bite ,screw their face up and think ..."oh that didn't taste great" which for them is fine ,but utterly boring because that's the way you yourself eat them. But for kiwis, well we have more brain cells than most people from overseas when it comes to the mere biscuit. We as kiwis think outside the box, which for those overseas people who try NZ snacks that are inside the box...that can't think past their nose....their life is totally fucken boring... What I'm saying is because we think kiwis think outside the box we kiwis are willing to try it in another way or experiment with, ....if this biscuit tastes ok on its own, whats it gonna taste like if we dunk it in a cuppa, glass of milk or anything else that you think of to try the biscuit with. As for the marmite everyone that tries it doesn't like the taste of it but then again they are inside the box again...boring!!! You had the toast part right but you have to butter it with real butter while the toast is still hot and sparingly spread some marmite on ....then try it.... A lot of cakes and stuff that are bought in a plastic wrapping/container most times do not them cakes any justice to how they would really taste if someone baked one at home..... Supermarkets and some other places use commercialised ingredients and a lot of the ingredients used are alternatives or substitutes for the real ingredients that should be used....some ingredients are ok but some are not...and the stabilizers they use in their ingredients are to make the product look good and keep for a few days but taste like crap. Dont assume that things should be eaten the way you know it ask people, do better research ....not everyone is the same , but you will find some people that will tell their best ways to try things. Something you should try is a bit of fresh cream in a saucer with a little plum jam ( or your favourite jam ) lightly swirled in the cream and dab a bit of bread in it and try it....younger generation or a lot of kiwis may not know or remember about that....but it use to be quite common (especially maori families ) and was more of a treat. (My uncle called it "Poor mans dessert with Kai) I know your a Nutritionist , but trying things that you really shouldn't be eating....is not a sin.....its just an experiment.

Jet planes, like milk bottle lollies used to be yum. The original recipe for both was more chewy with a lot of flavour. I also recommend you learn what the acronym jaffa stands for; Aucklanders love it. Back in my frugal childhood days our local cinema had a sloping wooden floor. When opening their packets of Jaffas, by hand in the dim light people would often drop a number of them on the floor. If the rolling sound of jaffas came from behind me I would form a v with my feet to trap the rolling morsels then eat them 😂.

To get the full Marmite experience, get a nice piece of WHITE bread put on some butter and a very thin layer of marmite. It is very strong. You put way to much on.....
