Yeah, it's weird that only in America, the winner of a "CUP" tournament or playoffs is recognized as the champion. But logically, the team with the best record should be the champion. So they decide to do both at the same time in Europe.
Yeah, I've always thought that the American way doesn't reward excellence, it only rewards been "good enough", but not being the best. It's the best, most consistent team over the whole of the season that should be the champions.

The offside rule isn't that complicated. Lets keep it simple: Attacking team has the ball. Defending team is defending. When you play the ball as the attacking team, you must make sure that the teammate you're passing the ball to isn't standing (behind an imaginary line) BEHIND the players of the defending team. Your team mate must always be on the same line as the players of the opposing team or in front of that. From up top: X = defenders O = Attackers G= The goal G X O X X X OO In this case, the O in between the X's is NOT OFFSIDE. G O X X X X In this case the O is standing offside (behind the defence) if I pass him the ball now, it's a freekick for the X's. Offside can happen in a split second. An attacker stands on 1 line with the defenders, he moves too quickly or the team mate passes the ball too late and it's offside.
offside rule isn't complicated to explain either: When you are the attacking team and pass the ball forward in the half of the opponent to one of your own players, there has to be at least two defending players (including the goalkeeper) between him and the opponent-goal at the time of the pass.

Every continent has a “champions league” in North America we have the Concacaf Champions League since 2005 Mexican Teams have won them all lol but it’s getting there lol South America has the Copa Libertadores and that in its self is a different monster than the UEFA Champions League. I've watch quite a few Americans reacting to this video and pretty much all want to know the same things. One of the key disconnects is the understand of the two types of football competitions. There's CLUB football and INTERNATIONAL football and they are completely separate. This is often lost on Americans who outside of the Olympic Games, don't really have much understanding or experience with International sporting competition, certainly not when it comes to NFL, NBA, NHL and Baseball. With American sports, the greatest title you can possibly win are domestic titles such as the NBA Play Off Finals, the Super Bowl and the World Series, where as in Football, club completions are important (as important as they are in America) but not as Important as international football (England vs Argentina, Italy vs Brazil, Ghana vs the Japan etc ). Every professional football player would Ideally like to win trophy's in the following order .. 1. The World Cup - Every 4 years you play for your country against other countries so there's lots of flag waving and getting behind your national side (that's if they qualified for the month long tournament of 32 teams). Patriotism is a beautiful thing to see when it is at the sporting level and is never better than when it manifest ever four years for a whole month in the form of World Cup football. 2. The European Cup - (each region has an equivalent competition i.e. "South American Championship"- "African Cup of Nations" and "Asian Cup." but the European cup has the most prestige). These are all international tournaments that stipulate that you can only represent the country of your birth (or have citizenship). 3. The European Champions Leagues - is the most important international "CLUB" football completion, (I repeat CLUB competition) where players from all over the world are allowed to play for teams based in Europe such as Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Arsenal etc. It is an international completion but it is an International "CLUB" competition so you only play against other CLUBS sides from other countries. 4. League Title - Winning the regular season League Title competition would make you the top team in your respective countries domestic league and qualify you and the 2nd, 3rd and even 4th placed teams (depending on how strong your league is) to represent your country in the next years European Champions League competition. 5. The Cup (like the play offs) - Many countries like England have two cup completions. The FA Cup which is like the Super bowl (not so much nowadays though) and the League Cup. Until Americans started to pay attention to the World Cup (1994), the only other occasion where national pride could be shared on a sporting level was the Olympic Games. And no disrespect to the Olympics but it is not the same thing. The Olympic is made up mostly of sports that people only care about every four years (Athletics, swimming, gymnastics etc) where as the World Cup is centred around the WORLDS GAME, affording the opportunity to experience the passion and excitement of seeing the nations of the world go to war and do battle... There's truly nothing like it..

I think the Team from USA can join UEFA champion league if USSF leaves Concacaf and join UEFA, then teams from MLS can join (similar to what Australia switched from OFC to AFC in 2006). But if USSF did that, you will not see US team in World Cup at all

In America you have 3-4 Major sports so you have lots of 20 thousand plus capacity stadiums i.e. NFL stadiums, Baseball stadiums and Basketball stadiums (even college sports stadiums but if you travel the rest of the world the only sport that has big stadium capacity (over 20 thousand) are Soccer stadiums because football is the only sport that can fill stadiums of that size. For example England, Germany, Spain, France, Holland, Brazil, Argentina, Ghana etc (effectively most countries) do not have a second sport that can regular attract more than 20 thousand supports. England has three major sports.. Football, Rugby and Cricket and the average attendance for Football matches are about 40 thousand. The average attendance for Rugby is less than 10 thousand and Cricket matches struggle to even attract one thousand supporters (surprising but true). In fact if you go from country to country and google the second most popular sport, you will find very few countries have second sports that have attendance figures that come anywhere near the attendance figures for Football, America is truly unique in that department. Pretty near all the countries of the world only build stadiums with a capacity of more than 20 thousand if its to host football matches only. To give a little more context. There are a lot of big stadiums (50 thousand plus) all over the world. The UK alone has over 10 stadiums that can hold 50 thousand or more. Germany has about the same and Spain and France have about 5 or 6. Many more countries have stadiums of 30 and 40 thousand capacity and pretty near all (95%) are soccer specific, because only soccer can justify stadium building of these sizes..
In south america the biggest cup is the Copa Libertadores . You first have to qualify , then each team is knocked off one by one . Same thing goes for the World Cup . You have to qualify first to be in the world cup . And that's every country trying to qualify . Also in the world cup , it's every 4 years .

american soccer teams couldnt compete at all in the champions league, even if it wasnt europe only. like no european (american)football, hockey or basketball team could compete in the us leagues :D just think about it like this, there is mostly only soccer here, the rest of the sports are really small compared to it, so the level is the highest possible. coming from switzerland i would say hockey is the second biggest sport here, but no one close to soccer. while soccer has 280k licensed players in switzerland, hockey has about 26k, not even 1/10 of soccer. but the second biggest sport depends on what european country you check out, but soccer is first in every country with a huge margin. if you are good in soccer you go to a good european league. damn so hard to write soccer as european :P
They didn't mention that the top 4 teams from each league qualify to EUFA champions league, and another cup called the super cup which is a match between the holder of the country league vs the holder of the country cup, the winner will hold the super cup.
champions league is a joke... the information is wron in this video... only rich leagues get to play and with some rich leagues, even if your team finishes 3rd they still get a place, while some champions have to play lots of games just to qualify... It's scam. As I said it's a joke to call it Champions League as most teams that qualify for it aren't even champions of their leagues. Again... It's a scam.. the rich teams stay rich and the rest fight to get a few million ... most of the time its the same teams in the final stages and it's boring. Just iumagine your team payts 6 games just to qualify. Now your countries top league has 1 team and already played a good few games. Now the tournament starts and anothger country has 4 teams from their league in it. They're fresh and ready with few injuries... the odds are already stacked against your 1 single representative from your league/country. Chances are always going to be uneven and end results are usually 4-1 odds that a team from one of the rich countries is going to qualify for the next rounds.

5:00 well explained, sometimes you really fight for your existence. A good example is Werder Bremen last year. They are an old team in Germany and have been around and title contenders for a long time, but the last few years they got worse and worse. By relegating into the second division they had massive financial problems and had to nearly sell half their team to continue their existence. By now they are looking great again and are on their way back to division one with a new coach and a mix of old 1st division veterans and young promising players who unexpectedly have really good chemistry on the field. Other examples: Hamburg Hannover Schalke Kaiserslautern Hertha BSC Berlin

Just to say : each european country has its own format for relegation and promotion. Here in France, within 20 clubs, the last 2 are relegated automatically and the 18th has to play play-offs (one game home and one away) against the 3rd of the second division to stay on top division or be relegated. It really matters which country you're talking about.
