I don't feel sorry for these peiple at all. They violated the laws of the country and should face the consequences. Only Americans believe they can do what they want whenever and wherever they want. They are grown men and should have checked their luggage and laws of the country before the trip. Stop making these people look like innocent heroes when they must face the consequences for ignorance.
I don't even believe them when they say it was an accident like what? Do you store ammunition for hunting there next to your toothbrush? Just a zany mixup?
@@JakeC-xx8zq they probably did because an international basketball player with .0001g of marijuana is a bit different than a gun nut rando bringing ammo and firearms into a country with massive gun violence. Hope this helped honey
@@DodongoManoof Wait, 'they probably did'? That's not consistent with what you said next so I'll assume you meant they 'probably didn't' take that tone. Which is my point. This is all about perspective when it shouldn't be. To be morally and logically consistent we must put aside our opinions on what is innocent or how we feel the situations are 'a bit different'. A pro-gun person could say a tiny amount of bullets in the same way you said a tiny amount of marijuana. There's no distinction. The law in that country is the law. So how are they different from a moral and legal perspective? To reply to your condescending question if your comment helped, it did not.
So, someone's political affiliation colors your opinon on if they should be in prison or not. That's some straight up authoritarianism right there. Were you supportive of returning Griner home? If so, do you see the breakdown in your reasoning?
@@JakeC-xx8zqdon't act so self righteous. Republicans are all about freedom unless it's the other side. Griner broke the laws and she should've stayed there, too.
I'm surprised they were even allowed through TSA in the airport in the USA. Guess the USA really is that much of a gun horney place. Oh well. These guys are doofuses.
what is up with americans and their guns???!!!! an honest mistake??! how disconnected from reality u gotta be to forget you had bullets in your luggage smh
@@HughJass-jv2lt It does make you wonder if they're that careless with bullets in bags... How many bullets are strewn around their houses? Do their kids find bullets in their backpacks? How many times has one of their kids been found playing with a bullet they found in the home? Are any of the bullets unjacketed lead?
@@Ali-e5h1b I have bullets all over my house, and guns. My kids grew up and was taught how to use them. We are a free country. I took my kids hunting by the time they where 4 years old. Taught them safety and responsibility.
I grew up in a relatively rural area. It was not unusual to find a shotgun shell or a 22lr round in a box of hardware in somebody's garage or shed. Just mixed in with a drawer of screws or nails. Ammo is out on the shelves of hardware stores or gas stations. I understand why someone who grew up in a state or country where ammunition is restricted might think it's weird to miss a few rounds cleaning out a backpack. But it's not that unusual here.
Americans can travel the us with ammo and do so commonly during hunting season. Very easy to miss a loose round in travel luggage while packing. You have a Haitian gang problem and likely gun smuggling problem on boats from Haiti. Talk about root causation.
yeah but your daddy Trudeau can freeze your bank accounts if he doesn't like what you're doing and you go to jail if you defend yourself from violent criminals. You also had to take a certain j ab whose side effects are just beginning to surface. No thanks
You know what I can guarantee that NONE of my luggage has ammunition in it. Maybe they should practice safe firearm handling and they would not be in this situation. There’s a place for bullets and a place for your personal “massage “ devices and they’re NOT the same place.
They did not even know they had it on them that is why. This happened to me when I went to Alaska and drove through Canada. I had a box of ammo in one of my bags and didn't know it was there. Lucky for me customs didn't search me. It was .556 ar ammo. It happens.
@@Mkundera why is he stupid? what he said is reasonable. i swear, americans have this superiority complex. y'all are outsiders, follow the law of the country you're visiting!
It's very american to have random bullets you forgot about in your holiday luggage. sucks to be them but i have a feeling they would be the types to talk about law & order soooooo
Know before you go! This is also true for medications. There are medications here that are illegal in some other countries, and you can end up in jail under drug charges.
@@tektekken176 Mexico isn't the equal of 1st world countries like the US. There's dozens of examples of countries that ban firearms and have zero consequences of it. There's no other country with as many firearm deaths as the US. Go USA, you're number 1!
@@Shane-bx8ws hmmm.. I know I typed 1st world countries... "Highest Rate Among High-Income Countries: The United States has the highest rate of gun deaths compared to other wealthy nations with similar populations [Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation]."
I have no sympathy for them, Americans always think that whatever flies in America flies in other countries and that is and never has been the case. America isn't the world, and just like how America wants people visiting it's country to follow their rules, Americans visiting other people's countries MUST follow their rules or pay the consequences.
@@Shane-bx8ws You said hunting trips require people to travel with weapon related stuff. I then told you what a normal person does when traveling after a hunting trip. People who own guns need to be responsible. Other counties have laws that you need to abide by if you visit them.
It is your responsibility as a traveler to follow all of the nation's laws you are traveling to, you are not a victim. It is your responsibility (which let's be real he's blaming his wife privately) to check and make sure all of your luggage and your person are free of prohibited items .
Americans need to WAKE UP!! Other countries and their laws are NOT the same as yours. Do your research before you leave your country! It seems the confidence of Americans out strips their knowledge.
It's good to hear Ryan articulate his understanding of Turks & Caicos doing this to keep its country safer. I don't recall him doing so in past interviews.
husband is an irresponsible gun owner. firstly you have a specific bag/case that you use to transport your firearm and anything else firearm related rather than using the bag for multiple purposes. second idiot mistake was not emptying out the bag before putting things in it. a sensible person would double check to make sure no ammo fell out into the bag or forgot ammo in the smaller pockets. should have been responsible enough to double check the bag knowing that it previously had guns and ammo in it and that you are taking that bag through a high security point of entry. ignorance and lack of taking responsibility is not an excuse and would not be accepted in my country.
Entitled Americans bringing lethal weapons/ammunition to another country on their beach vacation……..and expecting that “oops” is enough of an explanation.
you know, If they let these people go, this could be bad for tourism and $$$$ to their local economy. People go there because they feel they can be safe. Now the perception could be that guns are welcome.
If there is someone to blame here is that they left the USA and no TSA alerted them that they have bullets on their baggages. Whether, accidental or imtentional, Turks and Caicos need to implement their laws.
The idea of going to a foreign nation and NOT fully checking out your luggage, total nonsense. If you have a gun, buy a GUN BAG and leave all your stuff in that bag, if you got loose ammo floating around your bags and homes, you are asking for trouble.
Lol! I absolutely have no sympathy for these folks. The fellow uses the old excuse “I didn’t know that this was my luggage - I’m a good person”! The spokesman from the State Department said it perfectly. America expects all people to respect their laws when people travel to the U.S, laws of other nations must respected when Americans travel abroad. If I were to travel from Canada to the U.S. and found to have drugs in my luggage I wouldn’t be able to claim that I wasn’t aware of it.
unless you can prove the same people who think she should be in prison are the same people who think these guys should be free than you have nothing, your point is meaningless since you cant. Regardless, she intentionally did that, these guys didn't. Bullets are useless without a gun. Lastly, nobody thought Griner should be in prison, they didn't like that she was traded for an arms trafficker and that other Americans there were left behind who were actually inoccent.
@@stuart4341 Don’t speak for everybody she should’ve been in prison because she intentionally brought that stuff with her. By the way, guns aren’t very useful without bullets are they? I hear a lot of yelling and screaming from “responsible” gun owners. How responsible was this?
@@neilkurzman4907 i literally said bullets are useless without a gun. Guns can be used without a bullet, you can use an empty gun to threaten someone. Obviously this wasn't responsible but this was a victimless crime, so was Griner's
I honestly cannot imagine how any person could accidently leave ammunition in their travel bags and go to fly internationally. The possible 12 year sentence is ridiculous but their stupidity is ridiculous to me as well.
Tbh, there seems to be alot of warnings prior given to the public. Our country gave a red alert on this matter. It's similar to bringing in your stash of drugs and getting caught. Turks views the ammo like illegal drugs. If they r given leniency they laws of turks risk not being taken seriously. But it could ddef damage the countries tourism, maybe.
Yup. Only in America. It is a hard thing for Americans to understand that other countries have strict laws to protect their own citizens . Like the gum that dude chewed and violated the rule in Singapore got physical punishments.
Just like Garner when she brought weed to Russia, gotta be familiar with the laws of the country you’re going to and not just assume that all the laws in America are the same. Not to say that this person suffer the full extent of the law, but that’s just reality and you have to face their justice now
So now there are four? Don’t these people watch the news? I can’t understand how these people are so clueless concerning the laws of the country they choose to visit. And don’t they ever empty their luggage when they’ve finished one trip, say a hunting trip for deer?
I am anti gun but I really wish these two dads are released back to their families after paying hefty fines than term in prison. Both seems family person and hope judge takes this into account. And also wish we Americans have less cavalier attitude to guns especially traveling international
I have to take a medication that is a narcotic and even though it’s prescribed to me I do not travel to other countries where it’s even a remote gray area.
What’s that saying Americans love?…something like ‘You come to our country, you go by our laws’. The sheer entitlement to believe that other countries’ laws shouldn’t apply to you while expecting yours to be adhered to, is something else.
Yep. But I feel Sympathy for the 2nd guy. I've unpacked my luggage while on vacation.... and found small trinkets from previous trips that I forgot about 😆😆

Travelers are responsible for knowing the laws of the country to which they're traveling. Full stop. None of these people are victims.
