I read somewhere that Ferrari doesn't have a marketing budget. No commercials, no adverts. Nothing. Just the Formula One racing team. That is their marketing. But that is maybe because of where they come from. The founder, Enzo Ferrari, was a race driver, and then a race team owner, and a race car builder. And he needed money to be able to keep racing. So he started selling road cars, fast road cars, to people who could afford them. But he wasn't really interested in that part of the business, the road cars. That was just to bring money in for the racing. And rich people wanted to buy his road cars because of how successful his race cars were on the track.

Formula 1 is really amazing, and it's a lot of engineering works that goes on behind the scenes. F1 companies like Mercedes,Red Bull and Mclaren helped developed quickly a lot of the machines in the fight against Covid. The wind screen in Indi racing cars were developed by Red Bull racing. These engineers can solve any problem very easily.

I used to be very into F1, but it just got too boring somewhere in the early 2000s, I started dozing off mid-race on Sunday, even worse when timezones made it so that some races were on at 5am or something in Europe.

And if you want to dive in deeper you should take a look at her vid as she was invited to the Red Bull factory where all that magic is created. For her it was an absolut privileg to get there. Even the best and veteran reporters have not been there now. And in this video i love at most as she talks to one of the engineers and in the background you can hear a F1 engine screeming in the test stand. Because this was the first time the new self engineered Red Bull engine could be heared in a video outside Red Bull videos.

I am a Sports Car Club of America member. Used to be one of those folks (yes, we had women too) waving flags on the turns. Before and even *after* the half a minute I actually got to drive in the 1990s. I'm an older guy..if I had a dollar for every time I've said, "..no not like NASCAR..", I could buy a new BMW. F1 is 'the point of the spear' for my sport, but IMO, it's the greatest sport on the face of the Earth. Competition is a human desire, even though we're a social species. Making better tools when you can is *also* a human desire. Like the old TV ads for the candy said, "Two great tastes that taste great together." I love Cleo's video. My first F1 race (not as a driver, I was *never* that good! 🤣) was in Dallas, TX, 1984. I was just as stoked as Cleo in Miami. Made me smile the first time a friend sent me the link to it. I'm a Hamilton fan, too. His first Championship (he's won 7!) was for McLaren. As a perk, they let him drive an antique that was driven by one of our legends. For more info about the legend, search "Ayrton Senna". ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Zc2fs1LJLDg.html

What she didn't say in the video is that one F1 team has actually more doctors than in an average hospital. F1 is the test ground for new technologies. How many people? This can vary a bit but in general there can be 400 engineers per driver at the track and a supporting team of 400 people per driver at the factory, for real time monitoring where information flow between a car and supporting team is as fast as 3 milliseconds. What was left unsaid was that the cars are built not for the next season, but for the season after that.

I went through a period of feverish F1 fandom that lasted roughly 6 years. This period coincided with Lewis Hamilton's reign as the most successful driver of the era. It also gave me some needed respite from my never ending frustration as an Arsenal supporter. Luckily, as Mercedes' domination went down the tubes in F1, my beloved Arsenal have rejoined the elite in world football. All is well in the world. I will not say anything about the New York Mets. I value my sanity and life. Oh, F1, yeah. During the pandemic a few F1 teams joined together to conceive, design and manufacture medical devices to help with the fight against C-19. Mind you, these teams employ some of the best engineers across a whole bunch of disciplines, and these people are tasked on a weekly basis to come up with solutions to engineering problems. And yes, they did come up with things like a better type of air filtration system in a fraction of the time that a normal engineering firm would take to develop such a thing. So the best way to describe F1 would be as the glitziest RnD project imaginable.

And since they ran on the same track, someone made a video putting the fastest Indycar lap side by side with the fastest F1 lap ... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2Ft3Ug_YthM.html. There was a more recent one, which I couldn't find, where the time difference was even more pronounced. The main difference is the breaking. F1 cars break way harder than Indycars. I got to drive an older F1 model and knowing about the breaks I trained almost a month before. I got complimented on my performance ... I managed 60% braking power. 60% ... and I pressed as hard as I could after training my leg muscles for almost a month. 60 lousy %. I'd really hate to get kicked by a F1 driver ...

The heads-up list not only had the place-positions and “seconds behind” but also included the charge left on each car’s battery pack. The drivers had to carefully plan passes and their push to the finish. The winner had 0.1% battery left😳

She misses the most impotant aspects. Mankind has always wanted to race to prove something. Foot races at the ancient Olympics; horse racing; push bike racing; motor bike racing & car racing. That slips into the next big reason - tradition. Like the Isle of Man TT, racing is in the blood. It's usually young men who are willing to spill their own blood for glory. Since the dawn of the internal combustion engine, cars have been adapted to perform better & to race. To improve continually, you use better materials, more exact measurements, adopt new technologies, hire better engineers & better drivers. Drivers entrust their lives to the honesty & competence of their team. The big business behind F1 is the least interesting thing for fans. It's the atmosphere, the smell of adrenaline, rubber, exhaust fumes & burning metal; combined with the noise of highly tuned & high revving combustion engines. If F1 adopts all electric cars, then it will be like going to watch a Scalextric match with your neighbour.

F1 is road racing and we had that here back in the late 50's and early 60's. But most of those tracks went away. I blame that on SCCA for making it so expensive to run a car in a race. I guess the rich didn't want to get beat by some country boy. So now it is just a rich mans game anymore. And we average Americans don't like watching rich people play. In fact most racing attendance is way down from the 90's. Even dirt track is that way now the rich buy the wins. So I don't need no explaining what F1 is. It is rich Europeans playing.

The aspect of f1 that blew my mind is how every year the FIA gives the teams regulations on how big something can be, how much the car must weight, and a 📖 stack of other things the teams have to design within. BUT, some of these regulations are to screw with the teams and the car’s speed. Like the tyres. There is one supplier for everyone. And every driver must pit a minimum of once a race to change tyres. To make life even more difficult for the drivers, the tyres are manufactured purposefully to degrade within 10-30 laps. They could make the tyres last longer, but what fun would that be? 🤣 you will never max out on speed because regulations will change in order for teams to be forced to remake their cars every year.

The more you get to know F1 the more you will find out that its entire entity by itself. We the fans can become quite toxic but i guess thats the con of modern era. But thatss because we love this sport too much and we almost live and breathe F1 :) i just want to add on the budget cap thing. The teams use to break even cause they were spending up to 800 million a year (Mercedes, Red Bull, Ferrari). and now with the budget cap they turn huge revenue and thats why they went crazy with the salaries they offer to the top drivers to lure them in their teams. salaries up to 150 million a year. Lewis Hamilton's 3 year deal with Ferrari brought him about half a billion

Very interesting presentation though I must say I am not a Formula 1 fan. I suspect that those attending the races will only see brief glimpses of the cars as they roar past at over 100mph. Whilst I appreciate the technology being developed can improve commercial vehicles, the speed of the cars (and very likely why they win races, and certainly why the fastest lap earns extra points for the driver) is irrelevant to commercial life, as speed limits are much lower than that achieved in Formula 1. It is akin to the high end fashion shows, such as in Milan - the products on display may look spectacular but you won't bump into them in everyday life, hence just a statement piece with no real value. Interesting in Formula 1, the car is the main 'weapon' yet the drivers are lauded for winning. Lewis Hamilton, since he switched teams has had very little success, suggesting it was the car that he once drove that brought him success

I love formula 1. Besides Ferrari being a founding titan of motor sport and making cool(est?) cars, legendary driver Lewis Hamilton is said to be leaving Mercedes Benz for Ferrari partly because the new management at Mercedes severely cut Hamilton's interface and input to design tweaks and improvements from one car to the next. When he left for Ferrari, he took his engineer with him.

F1 fan here. She didn't get much into the human element of the drivers. They're ludicrously highly paid arrogant little shits by and large, but they're also extreme athletes. They have to be, because they experience constant fighter-jet levels of G force in the cars, as well as extreme heat. They do hours of training daily to keep their muscles and bodies up to resisting G force, keep their cardio health up, and train their reflexes and brains. A centimeter on track could be the difference between winning and losing or even an ER trip. The pressure is incredibly high for them to perform. F1 takes safety engineering to new levels because of the extreme speed, so their cars are amazing good at keeping drivers alive even in high-G crashes and explosions, and yet still every year or two somebody dies in F1 or one of the several feeder organizations. The drivers start competitive karting at about 6 years of age, and most of them come from wealthy families to afford to support them. The big ego clashes can be very soap opera drama. IMO, the culture is pretty toxic, but the super-tech racing is hugely entertaining.

15.35 The future of cars is not all electric it is only part of the solution. The sales of electric cars fell by 25% in the UK at the start of 2024 they've reached their peak. The future is a combination of electric, hydrogen, synthetic fuels and still combustion engines. A conglomeration of different fuels, lets not put all of our eggs in one basket again, it leads to disaster.

DRS is stupid and only there to make the sport seem more exciting. Only the driver overtaking can use it but not the driver being overtaken which makes it fake. And if it fails (gets stuck open) then a serious crash may occur. To save on that risky 'cheat', the rule makers might as well say, if a car is behind you then you must let it pass. That isn't real racing!

F1 is boring now. Go and watch some races from the 80s and early 90s before the boring cars and boring drivers took over.

F1 was the F1 till the era of the v8 NA now the experience is not wild. The sound wave was so loud and intense to make vibrates the bones from kilometers.

I've attempted F1 racing in the US 20 odd years ago. You guys need to use Google and leave your state more often.

I have to admit I haven't been to an F1 race for ages, but when we lived near Brans' here in the UK, I never missed a race from the late 1970's until they stopped F1 races there. They were great
