A British friend who travelled around the States said he was constantly biting his tongue because unlike us, the Americans' default mode isn't humour, so they think you're insulting them when actually you're just being friendly. If someone is being very earnest and serious about something trivial - as Americans often are - the British instinct is to mock them and lighten the mood. We use jokes almost as a social test: if a person can take a joke and fires one right back, they're alright. 👍😆
I watched a documentary on the British SOE in WW2. Operatives had to ne trained not to laugh at other people's misfortune as it gave them away whilst undercover in German occupied Europe. 🤣🤣❤️
@@carlstyth8368 I was once walking down a street in Derby, England, and became captivated by a beautiful young lady who was walking towards me along the pavement. Everything turned to slow motion. She was dressed in a business suit - I usually prefer an "earthier" woman, but she was undeniably hot - and just as we were about to cross paths, a pigeon flew into her face. Making a mess out of her hair, and causing her to throw all her work documents into the air. Pigeon feathers and paperwork everywhere. Now, I had an opportunity here to be chivalrous and help her collect her papers...but I'm British, and we have to make light of bad situations, so the first words that fell out of my stupid mouth were, "Well I bet that woke you up, didn't it?" If looks could kill, I'd already be dead. Needless to say, I didn't get her phone number. 😆
We have thick skins here in the UK, if someone takes the piss out of you it means they love you, it means you're one of the crowd, and you'll be friends for life. 😂😂

My friends sister married an American and we went to their wedding. Nice chap but he had a wig which we all had to ignore. She divorced him a couple of years later after he had an affair, and she knicked his expensive wig. It was then passed around to everyone, who would take it on their holidays. Photos would be taken and send to him, from various European cities, top of Gibraltar, Egypt and loads more. That's the British for you 😂
I almost got into trouble with this exact situation. I was in the pub with friends 6 pints deep and a guy walked in wearing an awful wig with his girlfriend. It was my round at the bar and I went up and ordered the five pints and also "a saucer of milk for the cat on that blokes head". My friends were in hysterics but the bloke took exception to my comment and wanted to fight me, his girlfriend pointed out we were five strong and dragged him out of the door. Not my finest moment I'll admit but to quote Mickey it was " a catastrophe of a wig". 😂
Micky makes no bones about the fact he now has lots of money. He has a great line when he says ‘. I recently bought a leaf blower. I don’t have a garden, I just like to blow £50 notes around my kitchen’
In case you were wondering. A syrup is Cockney rhyming slang. Syrup of figs means wig. I really loved this vid. You guys laughing so hard at a Brit comic was heartwarming and the fact that he was making American jokes and you took it in good spirit is something we love. In my eyes you are now honorary Brits 😊❤

We normally say ‘take the Mickey’ which is rhyming slang for ‘Mickey Bliss’, but only the first word is used. When he spoke about the wig he called it a ‘syrup.’ ‘Syrup of Figs’ is rhyming slang for wigs.
Another very funny English man is Bob Mortimer, maybe check him out on a tv show called would I lie to you. Theft or shrubbery is a good place to start, keep them coming, so much fun. Really enjoyed the TT reaction as well 🙂🏴

Can you react to the UK comedian panel show, “Would I lie to you?”, shortened to WILTY? One of the funniest episodes is ‘WILTY I accidentally bought a horse”. It has UK comedians on 2 panels which compete to guess if one of the contestants is telling the truth or not about a story from their past. Since the panels include comedians, you can imagine how funny it gets. It is a very popular and entertaining UK show.

Micky worked in the London comedy clubs for years before becoming a very, very big name in the UK, he’s especially famous for his “Out, Out” routine, that’s a great video to watch & react to next. Micky has some great videos this platform. there’s “Delhi belly”, “Useless men & drunk women” and “The lazy French”. I you liked Micky, I think you’d both like Sarah Millican a lot, she has a similar style comedy to Micky, her best video to start viewing with would be her “Muckiest Jokes”. If you feeling really really adventurous, try Scottish comedian Frankie Boyle and his two audience annihilation videos. Both part 1& 2 will make you glad your watching from home.

So I think he said it completely right, we are trained for this all of Britain are the same when it comes to this. Im the youngest of 6 and i got the piss taken out of me daily for my whole childhood until i started getting so good with comebacks being witty and hilarious with no filter. So it definitely turns heads in public when i roast friends and family😂
I don’t know what makes me laugh so much Jess’s reaction or Micky’s delivery. Absolutely in stitches at both. Jess honestly you are far too innocent for British comedy but glad to see that your man can relate and hopefully teach you a bit.

You need to check out Al Murray. He plays the part of a pub landlord in his stand up. He is extremely funny. Also, highly intelligent. He's an Oxford history graduate.

Micky is probably a little more hardcore than you guys are used to but he is hilarious. Some have problems with his accent and an Indian couple who react to him use subtitles. You also had an introduction to Cockney Rhyming slang in this video. Barnet is Barnet Fair = hair. And syrup is syrup of figs = wigs. You’re my favourite American reactors because you understand our comedy better than most. Please do more Micky Flanagan because he is extremely funny, if naughty with his language.

This joke works so well because Jess is the way she is, if she was anything other than she was it would not of hit the way it did and too be truthful, i love watching the reaction of jess when she hears something out of her comfort zone as its so much funnier than it would be any other time.
