My 14 year old daughter is actually doing rugby this term at school and she is really good! She is 5ft 11 and I think it puts the other girls off tackling her 😂 we have rugby from aged 11 in England.

The best women’s game to watch is England v New Zealand in the World Cup final 2021. The men’s Six Nations tournament has just finished (men) which is basically the European Championship, a great game to watch would be France v England which was played last Saturday. The women’s tournament starts this Saturday. The whole world plays rugby, even China has a woman’s team! The USA is hosting both men’s and women’s world cups in 2031 and 2033. Rugby is played all the year in different hemispheres, so when it’s winter up north it’s summer down south and hence the season, which is autumn/winter, alternates. Keep enjoying rugby!

Our children start from as young as four or five. To begin with they have to pull a fabric tag off their opponents, later they progress to touch games where you just have to touch the other player. Eventually they play full rugby but they are still very young

If you wanted to see some rugby look out for a seven a side tournament, usually takes place over a weekend and is a great introduction friendly people and a party atmosphere.

The next game for the USA Women's team is on 30th March - they are playing South Africa. They also have games in late April and May in the Pacific Four series with Canada, Australia and New Zealand (expect New Zealand to win that, but the other teams are fairly evenly matched). I can only find one game that the USA Men's team have arranged in the near future, against Scotland on July 12th, but it is quite early in the Major League Rugby season in north America and their are games every week - I believe shown on one of Fox Sports channels and possibly some local stations. Nice to see you enjoying rugby though, it's a great game that I think many Americans would enjoy if it were better known.

Defensive pushes are allowed while carrying the ball. You may have noticed that most players stand right back on their feet after a tackle, because ball is still live....

In either mens or womens games, if the hair is pulled it is an automatic penalty and the player that did it would be yellow carded, same with the player that got turned almost upside down considered dangerous and is a red card offense!

In regards to your question about some tackles. I'm not sure what restrictions are in women's rugby, but in men's there are rules as to how players are tackled especially in Australia in Rugby codes. Any sort of head high tackles are outlawed in Australia Rugby League or any tackle deemed to be dangerous that a player will get flung and have their head land first into the ground. The reason for this is medical concussion injuries.

Fortunately… When the women's game eventually caught up with the men's and went professional, the USA were well placed to join in so the USA women's rugby is on par with a lot of the rest of the world. You should definitely check them out especially at seven aside rugby

Bear in mind you seldom see hits like some of these in the NFL and thats with guys with padding and helmets on, they would be called for un-necessary roughness in the NFL (by the way, l love the NFL and am a lifelong Raiders fan and watch live games on Sky Sports NFL channel in the UK)

I can answer one of your questions Asia, Yes this is played at school and I think the footage at 4:34 was an under 17, High School girls game but it is old footage and nowadays, at least here in Australia, the girls play flag or tag footy where each player has a foot-long ribbon pinned to the side of each hip and instead of tackling, the opposition have to remove the ribbon to enforce the tackle-like play. But that might just be here and could just be Rugby League. As far as the seasons go, footy is primarily a winter sport. Here in Oz the Mens' season starts in March and goes to Sept or Oct. In the NRL (National Rugby League) there are 17 teams and 27 rounds. Every team (bar one, a different team each week aka, a bye round for that team) plays EVERY weekend for 27 weeks straight, no rest periods or time off. Only if a player is injured or banned for foul play do they get time off and they can be banned by their own team management or the tribunal, for public misconduct aswell and that goes for 24/7, 12. Every minute of your life throughout your playing career is under the close watch of the team you are contracted to. You aint gettin away with nuthin! On or off the field. The only other occasion players get SOME time off is throughout the State Of Origin clash. Three games in the middle of the year, two weeks apart and played on a Wednesday night, where two teams are made up of the best current players who were born in Queensland and New South Wales. This is the big one for those players, bigger than a Premiership victory, this is state pride and each of these states thinks they're better than the other so you can just imagine the hype that is brought out onto the field. The 2024 NRL season was kicked off here on Friday 1st March but also, as an NRL and American first, 4 teams went to Las Vegas to play two games of the opening round at Allegiant Stadium on 2nd or 3rd March. This was an historic event of the first time ever NRL has been played on American soil. These were not just pissy little exhibition games, these are top tier, full-time professional Australian football players putting on a show for y'all over there, to show you how we do it over here. And it was Round 1 and they played for real premiership points. Did you know about this event and at least watch it or maybe go to it?

Rugby is an international sport that is played year round. Think of it this way, if Basketball season is a winter/spring only sport somewhere in the world it is winter or spring. Since rugby is played in over 120 countries it is always rugby season. The Women's 6 Nations tournament should be starting this week. England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France and Italy will be going head to head over the next 7 weeks. It's worth a watch.

From France. In Europ, We love rugby but with the women rugby we are very proud and respecfull for these women because they have the fighting spirit. She look at the fight and they don't down the eyes, they run to win. They are beautiful ladies because, during 80 mn, they play proudly with the spirit warrior. Spartans would have loved these women... I guess.

I love watching americans react to real contact sports. Its hilarious. Try "here comes the boom - AFL's biggest hits" - australian rules football (which is a sport that mixes soccer, rugby, and basketball, but which predates rugby and basketball). It will amaze you - and watching you guys react to the hits in this sport will be really funny. The, uh, large lady, is actually easy to take down, if you know how to tackle properly. Its a challenge you always get when playing maoris, male or female, because some of them are huge. Its all about the tackling technique. But that lady knows to stay low so her legs cant get taken out. She might look unathletic but she actually has very good skills as well as the bulk.

Where the lady was picked up, raised above the tacklers head and turned over in the air is an illegal tackle which the tackler would have been sin binned (sent off the field). Some of the tackles were brilliant to watch and yes, some of those big ladies can also run as well as tackle too. No co-ed in womens rugby. They are all women. American womens rugby has been competing for over 30 years. I'm a kiwi and very respectful watching a good side play however, very biase when it comes to our All Blacks 🤣🤣
