no, the embarrassing part was both of you asking where the states' label and i was yelling they are listed alphabetical, i am sure everyone watching heard me
Those were the Great Lakes. The Finger Lakes are much smaller and near Ithaca, New York. I loved that the more Zach was drinking, the more flamboyant he got.
I'm from Brazil and I'm loving this kind of video! I never studied US geography. I was a great way to be in touch with it! I can't wait for the math or Civic video!
You two wonderful men are such an inspiration to all of us out here, young and old (I'm 86) in helping us sort out our lives and giving us hope that we, also, can find the mate to live out our lives with. I can't thank you enough. Please keep it up!!!
That was fun, I had a tough time with a few of the north and south eastern states. Love the early conversation, I suspect you two would have given each other the eye in high school and would have been married even earlier. I had a great week visiting Texas, made it to a football game and had a Whadda burger. Come try skiing in Banff we could help you get use to the cold. Hi from Calgary….hope new house treats you well.
As a viewer I enjoyed this segment. As a former schoolteacher, I cringed so much I think I hurt myself! 😂 It was fun to watch Zach stop to refill his glass with the timer still going. And poor Alastair with his constant Dios Mio (I can't do accent marks on this keyboard). Talk about wanting the Almighty's help! 😃 Can't wait to see how you do on the citizenship test...😮
Once you know where Kansas is, it's simple to tell what is next to it to the east, because Kansas City, Missouri. Then, south of that is Arkansas. Vermont looks kinda like a V
It was a good one today guys, loved Alastair's quip at the beginning, "some Mondays some Fridays " you both were cute as heck today, I loved that you both had a good time doing the show today,,as usual I'll be looking forward to the next Monday or Friday,,, Caio.......
That was fun to watch but I wanted to help them because I am good at geography and have all the capital cities memorized. They are placemats at my place, the states and the capitals. I am from Indiana and it was sad to see they didn’t know where Indiana was. Very entertaining though. It is the Great Lakes around Michigan.
I'm from El Salvador, I live in South Carolina and I remembered that a while ago I was talking to some Americans and they thought that my country was Mexico. I told them no, El Salvador is in Central America, just like Honduras, Gutemala, Belize, Nicaragua, etc. And when I showed them the map of Central America this is Mexico Mexico is in North America El Salvador is in Central America and one of the Americans told me I thought that Central America was just forests mountains wild animals and there were no humans there I started to laugh a lot no I expected an answer but I don't blame them here in the United States in schools they don't talk much about Latin countries some geography classes would be nice
I had a lot of fun watching you do this. I admire your courage to do this live in front of a camera, oh the pressure. I was cheering for each of you along the way, and I too was yelling at my screen that the states were listed in alphabetical order. You did well in the South but less so in the North, and I think for me it would be the opposite, I will have to go find that quiz and try it sometime soon, I will however, choose to wait a bit as I just watched it done in front of me twice. Fun Idea guys, and i think everyone should try this.
Hey guys, NC southern boy here. Zach, love your southern draw, yeah I got it too. When I go up north, I get fun harassment about it. Glad I found you guys recently. Y’all crack me up! Love your stuff dudes.
I enjoy A & Zac's videos very much. Zac's infectious laugh cheers me up no end. Not surprising regarding their misconceptions about geography. Did they know that in Vermont you are in Quebec if you are heading west on the right-side of the road. No barriers between the USA and Canada along the 49th-parallel.
So much fun! I got 98% in 2.28 minutes but I'm much older so guess we had better education LOL. Reminds me of story that I got stopped in TN by highway patrol while traveling to AZ from FL bc of new law they implemented that day. When I told him I would never spend any $$ again in TN he said "Well how are you going to get back to FL without traveling thru TN?" and I replied "well, I guess they don't teach geography in TN either!"
The only two states I really have any trouble with are Colorado and Wyoming, just because they’re shaped so similarly. It doesn’t hurt that I’ve been to 45 of the 50 states, though I think I pretty much knew them already, and I don’t think of myself as being all that good in geography (ask me to do the same thing for African countries and I would not do well). But it was fun watching the two of you struggle your way through the quiz.
I took the quiz where you have to get each state by its shape. Colorado and Wyoming were shaped exactly the same so they had to show the capitals on them to differentiate them.
You guys had me laughing hard. You should do what I did when I got tired of living in Los Angeles and wanted to move but didn’t know where. So I bought a camper and told my friends on social media that I wanted to meet as many of them in person. It was the best two years of my life so far, got to travel to most of the states and met so many wonderful people. I was actually in the Dallas area when you got married, if I’d known you guys then I would have crashed your wedding! LMAO
I'm braggin- 94% in 4:32 minutes. I did the one where it told you to click on the state as it told you the next state to find. That alphabetical list and click seemed harder. (So not the same at all!) You guys are the best! Keep it up!
I guess, the hardest thing you had to do was to choose a state from the list. BTW, I passed this quiz with 82%, and I am NOT an American - I'm from central Europe. I had problems only with some tiny states in the eastern US. 🤨
I did the quiz and got 100% taking 3:41 and I am not an American I have only visited the USA once and that was 34 years ago when I visited Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia but often Europeans get a lot of American news and I do have an advantage I have a very visual memory. I wonder how you'd do with the 31 states of Mexico
I love watching the two of you! Hey, Zach, which high school did you attend, in Columbia, SC? (My son went to one [Columbia High] and one of my daughters went to another [the, at the time, newly renovated Dreher High]. My LGBTQIA+ child was homeschooled, for middle and high schohomeschooling, attended the area's Queer Prom.) As always, thanks for inviting us into your lives.
...said it before, I'll say it again; Zach was allllll-ways 'my type' of Guy (brunette, wild-eyed, gravelly-voiced 18:46)...but, I must admit that Alis is seasoning QUITE nicely! (11:18) ..he looks SOOO good! ...full faced, tanned, relaxed, assured....is it too late to switch!? ...ha-HAA!!
I remember they published a survey where they asked a bunch of American citizens what they knew about Canada. The results were shocking. I think about 50 % said that Canada was ice & snow all year long ( not true ), another percentage thought all Canadians lived in igloos, & the rest didn't even know where Canada was. What do they think that big chunk of land is above all the Northern states.
Zach, I can't believe you and Alastair are talking about the American geography at your house on this video during the episode of "Coffee & Tequila" after you're answering some pop quiz with him about everything, so I'm proud of you for that, I know you're gay and you had the Southern accent, so it was my birthday last Friday and I'm 33 years old, now!!
I'm sad they removed this game mode. I can't compare scores. The game picks the state at random and makes you identify it, so I can't do any process of elimination or going by what I'm sure about first. New England is tiny and hard.
Alistair sound like soooo many gay boys who work really hard (often unconsciously) to be the "Best Little Boy in the World" to compensate for being gay. There was a very famous book by the name "Best Little Boy in the World" by Andrew Tobias. It would be interesting for you guys to read and review influential book in gay history.
I guess I should be proud of nowing Maine and have a huge sea between me and US 😅 I live in Sweden in Europe. But northeast US is hard, I totally agree. The swedish version of states (called landskap in swedish) is odd at one point, to of the states highest up in Swedens names is north bottom and west bottom, west bottom is south of north bottom… must be worlds most unlogical names… and why ”bottom” in the names then they are in the top of the country 😅
zach hunny, there is no thing as the finger lakes but the Great Lakes otherwise you did good !i knew them all *kiss 1000 pts for correcting urself illinois here... chicago was the big city by the lake, as in lake michigan
Alastair, it spelled Arkansas but we like to sound it Arkkinsaw in the1800 they called it the Rak kin sack it was said by trappers hunters that there was a tribe called the pa saw and chik a saw, and the righters got drunk and spelled it wrong
ok, Zach, since you went to HS in Columbia, SC I have to ask which ones? LOL I have quite a few relatives up there and in Newberry, heck all over the state and I am back in Charleston where I grew up.
Ah i knew all those hours of watching CNN during US elections and seeing John King on that touchscreen would lead me to knowing where everything was, so much so that I now know the names of some of the counties where major cities are located in Georgia, Arizona and Pennsylvania
I thought you both did great, considering it was a timed test. Those always sort of rattled my nerves. But it was so much fun! I would love to take the citizenship! I heard it was very difficult, so no looking up the answers in advance----please! SURE, you two>>>>>>LOL!!!! But still, let's do this! Much Love, Donnie Harper
That was really fun. I am not sure that many could do better. I don't think I would have done better. It's always so much fun to watch you guys in action. This was adorable and so much fun. Love to you both for entertaining me this evening. OXXOXOXOXO🏳🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈
I used to know the states and the capitals by heart. I got 94% on the state test and 74% on the capitals. Not bad considering it's been over 35 years since I studied geography...
Embarrassing especially since you lived in New York for 5 years and are a graduate of WP. I know that they have some foreign students there that aren’t going to go into our service (I know that you were not born here but did go to high school in the USA and college & are serving)
@AZB Bonus Features, I bet Alastair will be making you sleep outside for getting New York wrong 😂 Edit: Looks like West Point is making both of you sleep outside lol
