I took my parents to the capital city of the Czech Republic (Prague) & we got a few "Czech" snacks from a local market there! It's always interesting trying foods from different countries, it's so different! Like, comment, subscribe & share! :)
In case anyone is curious, here are all the products we tried in this video (in order):
1) Tatranky - chocolate wafer
2) Sezamová tyčinka s medom - sesame honey nut bar
3) Kávenky - coffee flavored water
4) Skatt Smažené Bramburky - chips
5) Jojo Pajpky - taffy candy
6) Mysli na zdraví - coconut cookie
7) Krtečkuv ovocny nápoj - drink

Hi. "Na zdraví" means "cheers" when you drink something or "for a good health" if it's written on a cereal cookies like you had. :)
@monicamomo9594
@monicamomo9594 7 лет назад
Basically czech sweets are wafers, chocolate variations, hard candies and jelly beans. From your reaction to czech chips (even though Bohemia chips would be more to your liking) I think that your chips are more salty. Maybe on your next trip try to experience more traditional brands :) But I guess it's the adventurous part of the trip to try whatever draws your attention - something new. I appreciate the idea.

Actualy not. Almost nothing of this is traditional here. Only Tatranky and Kávenky. We have so much better things here. Try things like "Fidorka", "Brumík", "Kaštany", "Kolonáda", "Zlaté polomáčené", "Mila", "Margot", "Kofila", "Lentilky", "Hašlerky", "Arizonky", "Miňonky", "Kočičí jazíčky", "Studentská pečeť". And salthy "Arašídové křupky", "Tyčinky Havlík", "Staročeské brambůrky". And as drinks definitely "Kofola" (not that sugary something they had, what is made for little children when moms need to buy some drink to go, they won't spill)! Kofola looks like Coca-Cola or Pepsi, but taste different, has much less sugar and more coffein. Every forein who taste it the likes it. And also "Malinovka" is great drink. And alcohol, oh our alcohol. Czech beer is must, but it HAS TO be cold and have foam on top! And try also "Becherovka", "Slivovice", "Hruškovice", "Meruňovice", "Tuzemák". And don't forget Moravian wine. But be careful, they are stronger than your regular wine (like 13% of alcohol). And if you visit Czech Republic, and have luck, you can find "Burčák" which is technically unfinished wine, but taste like heaven. But you can buy it only for a few weeks of year. And if you are here you must have beer in pup. And also Kofola in pup where they draft it like beer. It is so popular here it has its own faucet in pups next to beers. And also try the our bread, "rohlíky", "chlebíčky", "buchty", "koláče", "medovník" and "větrník". Forget about "trdelník", it is not traditional and it is only overpriced tourist food trap. And if you have lunch here, don't make mistake that many tourists make: If you have food with dumplings, you don't eat them all by itself. You eat them with lot of sause, or with sauerkraut, or spinach. You can even add meat. All in one bite to make dumplings more moist and to balance the taste of each other. Same if you have sause with potatoes. We eat it together. They put it on plate separately only so you can add as much of each ingredient on one bite as you want. someone want more dumpling, other one wants more sauerkraut...

Quite a shame, only traditional things were "Tatranky", "kávenky" and chips (and yes, we use less salt on them than other countries). And Mysly is actually a "healthy" cookies, and coconut one are actually not favorite that much. Next time try things like "Fidorka", "Brumík", "Kaštany", "Kolonáda", "Banány", "Koko", "Zlaté polomáčené", "Mila", "Margot", "Kofila", "Lentilky", "Hašlerky", "Arizonky", "Miňonky", "Kočičí jazíčky", "Studentská pečeť". Looks like Coca-Cola or Pepsi, but taste different, has much less sugar and more coffein. Everyone who taste it the likes it. And also "Malinovka" is great drink. "Birell" try the fruit one, its non-alcoholic fruit beer. "Vinea" is also great drink. And alcohol, oh our alcohol. Czech beer is must, but it HAS TO be cold and have foam on top!
