Hey Fam - Today we try German snacks for the very first time!
There are not a lot of videos of Americans trying German Snacks, so we thought it would be fun to taste test some German snacks and do a food review!

When I was little, it was a big deal that Kinder Bueno eggs were illegal in the US. Everyone told us how they were illegal because of a US law prohibiting confectionery products that contain a “non-nutritive object” because it's considered a joking habit. As kids, we all used to find that funny and used to joke "Who would try and eat the toy in a Kinder Egg?" and it's still a running gag that children find funny over here that someone would try and eat the toy. So when you guys went and tried to eat the toy I burst out laughing. No one can prepare you for seeing the thing you joked about as a five-year-old happen in real life. Bless your hearts, though, you're an adorable couple and I thoroughly enjoyed that.

Kinder surprise eggs are still illegal in the US. They now sell the summer version of it where the toy is on one side and the packaging looks like kinder surprise but it's Kinder joy

@@jonathanthomsen6440 hm yes and no.. the Kinder brand is by Ferrero an Italian brand but the Kinder brand was made for the German market and the Kinder products selled in Germany are mostly produced in Germany and Belgium. So I do see that people say it's German and /or Italian as both is more or less correct

Kinder is really popular in Germany, it's made by the same Italian company that makes Nutella too :D And toffifee is like marketed as a sweet for the whole family, which is very present in their ads too. Many people grow up with them, so you're really spot on with that lol

FUN!!!!!!!!! German food is my jam! Lived there 3 years and visited twice since. There is nothing like walking around a "real" Christkindl market in Germany, at night with all the lights on, sipping a Glühwein, while eating a "super" Dickmann's which is two or three times as big as the ones you had. They sell all shapes, sizes, light chocolate, dark chocolate. They are fresh tasting - not like the packaged ones that look like they have been abused.

Omg when you guys ate the Kinder surprise i laughed so hard!!! I was like omg Jamil is gonna choke on the toy. We have had them in Canada for many years. Also Toffifee are my favourite chocolate! I get myself a box every Christmas. Even though they are offered year round now.

I never noticed that in Germany we have hazelnuts in so many chocolate candies. I only learned that from the "Americans Trying German Snacks" videos. Dickmann's chocolate kisses are also available in larger sizes. Then they taste even better.

'Six' in German "sechs" isn't pronounced as 'sex'. It's a soft 's' instead of a sharpe 's' in the word "sex". However, Kristin did a very good Job and I think no German would hear the word 'sex' in that context.

I always really enjoy watching your videos, but this has got to be one of my faves. Probably because I know most of these items you tried (I’m from the Netherlands, so we also have many of these German snacks). Trying the kinder egg was especially funny, überraschung means surprise, so I guess that fits 😂 Like Kristin said these are for small kids, it’s mostly about the little toy inside. But here everyone knows it’s in there 😉 I think it’s not allowed to sell them in the US because of this toy inside. Hope you guys are feeling better by the way. And if you ever want to try some Dutch snacks that would be great (and I will still love you guys even if you don’t like ‘drop’ 😜)

About 16:00... Almdudler is originally a drink you most likely find in southern bavaria. I don't think i have ever even seen it anywhere else in Germany. It is a kind of lemonade from herbs and has a really unique taste. I personlly like it best when you are skiing and then you go into a restaurant up there in the alps, that is just a vibe and a taste... Yeah. And not tropical at all 😂 i never tried the haribo gummy version of it though

Idk if there’s a difference of flavor between “Toffifee” and “Toffifay” never tried “toffifee” but “Toffifay” are my favorite chocolate!!! And that specific kinder egg took me back to my childhood, kinder eggs here in the US are different now for that same reason choking hazard 😔

I mean if you would have a parental figure that would be able to parent you would know how to open the Surprise Eggs with the age of 4. But due to the USA being broke for hurting a pinky toe and parents working 24/7 they had Inzidenz and now it's illegal because no one taught them. Kinder buenos are my daughters favorite. My kids also love kinder eggs here but in the US they are different half the egg is the toy and the other half is a hazelnut thing.

katjes do good snacks i love the yoghurt gummies they taste really fruity a completely different world of gummie bears. haribo also produces good ones, although there has already been an upgrade with the fluffy yoghurt bottom. my favorites are these katjes because usually there is a lot of artificial stuff in the snacks and i really feel it when i eat a pear gummie, or a banana. and i'm not surprised that knoppers is the bestseller xD every american who made such german snacks videos celebrates knoppers :DI love knoppers!

That leads actually to a interesting question: does the nationality of the company that owns the brand determine if a product is for example German or Italian. For example Lamborghini: this brand is owned by VW, but the cars are still produced in Italy. Is a car from Lamborghini now a German car or a Italian car? And the same goes for Ferrero: since it would be a logistic nightmare to produce all candy of Ferrero for the whole world in Italy and transport that all over the world Ferrero started to create factories in many countries of the world to produce the candies in the countries where they are sold (that is cheaper, no customs and shorter transport routes etc). So if you buy a candy from Ferrero in Germany you know the company is Italian, but it is produced in Germany by the German factory of Ferrero in Frankfurt. Does that mean that candy is Italian or is it German?

I as a little German kid always broke the Überraschungseiers chocolate shell at its intended breaking point were the two half’s were fuzzed together, ate the chocolate half’s one by one and then opened the plastic capsule to get the toy. Seeing someone straight up biting in it is kinda strange to me, but understandable given the context.

Those kinder eggs are so good!! I grew up with them until they were banned in the states because of choking risks which is ridiculous. The new kinder eggs in the states aren't the same. The toffifee are delicious!! Kinder makes really good chocolate. I just discovered this video and got excited bring back my childhood. :D

(Me German, Age 59): Don't take it personally, but in my childhood, these products as of Dickmanns (somehow traditional, at lease of the 1950s or even longer - and still in purchase) were named "Negerkuss", which translates to "kiss of a negroe" literally. This wasn't ment in a racist view, nor the synonym "Neger" or "Negroe" at all. It was just the fun about this brown chocolate, and the happiness eating it: Okay, get this kick, get Your "Kiss of a negroe".

hey, I am a German It makes you hungry to watch,its a good selection. Toffifee eat more elderly people. The pretzels are hotel snacks or in the restaurant while you are waiting for food or diet snack or as food for stomach diseases. The Haribos variety is rare and many Germans do not know it. The standard Haribo variety are the Goldbären. Best wishes😊
