Can we all just take a minute of silence for our dear Dave who went through all that effort in buying all the good stuff only to have his beautiful Jaffa cakes insulted. I think we can all agree a little part inside him died having to send it to America and an even bigger part died knowing he paid that postage fee to send it to America to have it ripped to shreds. JT, you need to issue a public apology to our Dave for the Jaffa cakes he had to sacrifice
First you throw our tea in Boston Harbour, now you disrespect our Jaffa Cakes! I'm forced to sit down with a nice cup of tea, while I write a strongly worded letter to the Times!
@ricky mate this was exactly what I said to myself out loud when he was eating them 😂😂😂🙈 I said nope you never ever break it you look at it and say full moon then Bite half and say half moon (no chewing) then shove the remaining in and say total eclipse 😂😂🙈 ohh gosh I need to go the cupboard and get some out now hahaha 😂😂😂
I am devastated.. Looking at the situation.. I've had to seriously come up with a positive solution in my mind... And that is, sod him, more for me!! 😆👍🇬🇧
Your confusion over whether Jaffa Cakes were biscuits or cakes made me smile. Years ago the tax authorities could not decide this question (cakes and biscuits are treated differently for VAT, our sales tax). So it ended up in court (seriously!) and the judge found they were cakes because they go hard when they are stale, where biscuits go soft. Thank goodness for the law!
If I may add to this. Chocolate biscuits are classed as luxury goods in the UK 😀...so we have to pay tax. Cakes are every day food so no tax. Ridiculous. They also baked a giant Jaffa cake to take to court to further prove its...cakeiness.
Under the present law, in Great Britain it is now only treason to "compass or imagine" the Queen's death. Consequently, assaulting the Queen is only treason if it proves that state of mind. In Northern Ireland intending or causing "any bodily harm" to the Queen remains treason under the Treason Act (Ireland) 1537.
@@randomy5151 Well some, is most isn't. Chocolates etc are tailored to regional tastes and some chocolates in the states are designed to cope with higher average temperatures in the southern states.
You didn't like the Jaffa Cakes!!! Literally, if you buy a box of them in the UK, you know you are going to eat the whole box in one go and on the same day 😂
I can do a great many things but I'm not going to. Jaffa cakes and I have lived along side one another for a long time and will continue to do so but I'll never like them.
I'd just like to point out, a lot of the biscuits in the UK are intentionally designed to be dipped into cups of tea - most people don't have biccies without a good brew
Laughed so hard at you eating the Jaffa cakes. As a child I used to peel out the orange bit. As an adult I’ve grown to love the orange bit! Jaffa cakes are growers!
The fact that everyone in this comment section is commenting about Jaffa Cakes and how offended they are is making me laugh but can we take a moment to talk about how he just threw the Bourbon like it was nothing? I’m more offended by that!
@@m_h_1988 I....could ... have...cried! And then shouted “GIVE IT TO MEEEEE! How VERY VERY DARE YOUUUUU??!! Bourbon and custard creams, hot milky coffee... dunking biscuit delights ...
How to instantly insult an entire nation, by not liking Jaffa cakes, I think every British person would unite to stand up for this delicious orange, chocolate, biscuit treat. I also still remember the Dawn French ad from year's ago, if you haven't seen it you should. I like that you gave everything a try, even with some of the questionable smells, not everything is to every ones taste 💖
actually they made a good point of why they don't find them as nice as we do. in american food they use a lot of chemicals and additives that we don't put in our food due to food safety laws, so their tastebuds have been conditioned by the addition of things they shouldn't be consuming to need those additives. they also aren't too focussed on food texture like we are either which explains them not liking jaffacakes because jelly is something americans wouldn't put with cake and chocolate. but the one thing most americans tend to agree on is our chocolate is better than theirs because we use more milk and cream and they use more chocolate and chemicals to preserve the milk so their chocolate is quite bitter where as ours is very sweet.
Don't like Jaffa cakes - cancel that ticket to the UK - Customs officers have been handed your details - immediate return to the US. And no cuppa to wash the biscuits down with - you're fading away as a complimentary Brit - you will have to do something epic to retrieve this situation !
Jaffa cakes are among the most popular biscuits in the UK - and my grandkids in Vancouver insist their uncle in Edinburgh send them a care package of them (and of milk chocolate Hobnobs and Garibaldi biscuits) every chance he gets. Jaffa, btw, is the trading port in Israel from which Israeli oranges are shipped. But then, anyone who enjoys McD's chicken things has a major palette problem.
Man you’ve just pissed off a lot of brits 😂 you’ve dissed our Jaffa cakes and you’ve eaten the biscuits without a single cup of tea in sight! Sacrilege bro 😂
I guess us Brits just love a choc biccie! (Sorry biscuit! 😂) I am so glad you love the Viennese fingers and the choc fingers (next time bite each end off the finger & suck milk up through it mmmmmmm!) Also, Animal biscuits & party rings are generally kids biscuits xxx love you guys, please do more together xxxx
This is the second American channel which I’ve watched that didn’t like Jaffa Cakes, and both times they said that they’d probably like them if they didn’t have the orange jellied centre!!!! That’s the whole point to the cake!!! Madness!!!
I think their taste buds are not accustomed to something about them and it makes them feel weird. I honestly couldn't believe how disgusted they seemed to be. What the hell?!
Any American eating British foods videos they always break them in half take a little nibble off one. Just put the whole thing in your mouth. Our chocolate is far superior to American chocolate. Our snacks are far better. No added artificial ingredients.
Oh dear JT, did you forget everything you learnt in your reaction videos about manners in the UK. Dave spent a fortune buying and sending those biscuits & cakes to the US. Dave, if you want to buy me a selection of biscuits feel free, I promise to eat them all
Agreed, I have no problem with them not liking the selection but that was a really odd way to react, especially from someone who supposedly lives our culture.
Just so the Brits know, breaking something in half is what a picky eater would do. Most Americans would eat the entire snack or maybe two if it is good.
Uncomfortable viewing. Not one of your better videos. Discarding biscuits that you didn’t like was poor manners especially to Dave who sent them hoping you would like them
Really ? Poor manners ?? Dave sent him those things so he could react to them . Surely an honest reaction is the point . He clearly appreciated it , and I expect Dave appreciated that he ate a bunch of food sent from a stranger
How do you know they discarded them? For all you know they are sat in his cupboards. And I'm sure dave didn't think they were going to like everything. Why does everyone assume they know how dave is going to feel?
First off, great to see your girlfriend appear alongside you. Now, lol, Jaffa cakes. They are scrum-diddly-umptious! The orange jelly filling is what makes a Jaffa cake what it is. Most of the others aren't part of my regular eating habits. Hobnobs do a chocolate coated version which makes eating them more palatable. But yeah, Cadbury's is still THE brand to go to .... even though there was a huge outcry a few years back when it was announced that the US giant, KRAFT, was buying out Cadbury's. Not sure if this was entirely true but I've not noticed any difference in the taste/texture of any of the produce. I'm sure now you've got a P.O. Box you'll soon discover that we Brits aren't obsessed with just chocolate, there's a whole plethora of different sweets to sample. ;-)
i am actually offended, the biscuits is a British staple no one could live in the uk without a having biscuits as a part of the daily diet ... it may as well be law.
Why offended? He did like some of them. Did you expect him to go full marks for all of them? Im British myself and some of those i don't like much either. He only tried 10 packs so far and he has a whole box!
Your honorary Britishness is in doubt because of that Jaffa Cakes reaction. Oh, and bourbon creams (pronounced bore-bon) are probably Britain's most popular biscuit.
Dave must feel like he wasted his money sending this stuff to you how can you not like a jaffa cake and they all go well with a cup of hot tea not cold drinks.
I doubt it, It would be stupid to assume he is going to like everything that’s sent especially food wise.. I’d be greatful if someone sent me a load of Hershey’s chocolate but does that mean I have to pretend to like it? The whole point is the reaction to something new
I thought they were both quite rude and ungrateful. The poor bloke spent a fortune and probably remortgaged his house to post the stuff. A lot of people will cancel sending anything now.
@@cunningstunt9226 i am not stupid when thinking a little gratitude go's a long way. the way they are smelling the biscuits before trying looked like they were expecting to be poisoned . i have watched a lot of this type of video i have not seen anyone discard the goods that someone has take the time to shop for the goods packed and shipped them around the world. at there own expense . i like JT he comes across as a nice guy but if you don't like chocolate that much don't keep asking people to send you things you won't like maybe JT needs to watch some videos on you tube and say what he thinks he would enjoy first.
@@jeanlongsden1696 pretty sure it's cos they are taste testing, it's the normal thing to do in a video like this... They wouldn't do it if they went out to eat without a camera probably
I watch the Try Channel- Irish people trying food - and they also smell everything first. I think when you're trying something truly alien to you, it's instinctive.
Kinda but I'm not mad because anytime I eat American sweets or food I can't stand them, sugary shit chocolate, plus one of their cereals rips your mouth to shreds, jolly ranchers are decent and twinkys are pretty good aswell, they're sweet af though. I trust it more when someone doesn't pussy foot and try not too offend
@@igniteee3804 but his whole channel is about his so called love for the UK . I too don’t like fake you tubers who pretend to like everything but I don’t like rudeness and ill manners after some one sent him a huge box of items of which he only showed a few . He could have just said “I don’t like it or it’s not my taste “ saying things smelt like shit and throwing them over his shoulder . I wasn’t the fact that he didn’t like the things it was how he said it .
i won’t lie, the way you discarded these after trying them & how you spoke about them seemed super ungrateful. this has definitely made me think twice about sending you things :(
@@theedgeofcurrentunderstanding no he wasn't , people just don't anybody else having opinions. He said he don't like some of the stuff he tried. I'm shore there are foods you don't like. Dose that mean your being rude and arrogant.
@@salamander8053 there’s a difference in not liking something but still being grateful and not liking something before even trying it, calling it shit and throwing the boxes & biscuits away like they’ve offended you, when someone went to the effort of paying like £50+ to send you said things.
@@amazingpurplegirl0903 not really, the way he threw the things away & said they smelt shit was just rude. some dude spent so much money, went out during a pandemic to select & send items and you throw them around the room like he’s wasted your time.
I felt he was a bit ungracious. At first I thought they were funny, but then began to feel annoyed at the attitude. Also, a couple of plates wouldn't have been amiss! If I was offered a biscuit in the States I wouldn't sniff it first and make such a fuss! Couldn't believe they couldn't pronounce Viennese!
Everything about this video was wrong. How can someone test mainly chocolate biscuits when she freely admits to not liking chocolate. You don't piss about with breaking biscuits in your hand, you just bite them and if you don't like them spit them out. You don't eat biscuits with cold orange juice, but a hot mug of tea or coffee so that you can dunk them.
The Great thing about British Snacks, Chocolate and Candies is they are all made with Natural Ingredients. Unlike American which are made up of Substitutes and Chemicles. That means when you taste British you get the real taste - Flavour. Unfoirtunately you are so used to eating chemical flavourings you might not like the real thing.
It's funny how they read the box of "Java Cakes", see "Jaffa Cakes", Jaffa being an orange and cakes being.. Well, cakes.. Then are in shock that they are orangey cakes. Also, when do we burn these heretics?
few American's get the reference to Jaffa oranges though, because our oranges don't come from Jaffa, they come from Florida or California. Jaffa oranges were never a thing in the US.
Everyone getting upset about your reaction to the Jaffa cakes and I'm here getting upset over the Bourbons (Pronounced Boar-bons) 😭 They're dope, especially dipped in milk! 😂
We all have different tastes. We need to get you sorted with some basic British manners though bro. Learn to smile if something makes you gag, and say 'mmm those are truly delightful, you are really spoiling me!' Then discretely spit it out in to a napkin while no one is looking! That is the British way.
Yeah, and cover your mouth when you blech and say pardon me. lol My gran would have slapped my funny if I had done that when she was alive may she rest in peace.
maybe where you're from, from where i come from in Leeds we prefer to be blunt. if i don't like a taste i will immediately tell them and spit it out infront of them. saying that it is wrong he don't like jaffa cakes, they're amazing
I noticed a lot of the time when trying the stuff you put the chocolate side down. We eat nearly all our stuff chocolate side up. It makes a huge difference on the palate
Jaffa Cake insult to one side...JT threw an unfinished Bourbon down like it was nothing to him...I'm shook!!! And don't get me started on the Party Ring fiasco!! 😂😂
Jaffa Cakes are CAKES, which is probably why you didn't like them cos you weren't expecting a cake texture if you're calling them biscuits. They're like Pringles, you never have a half eaten pack of them cos they're addictive!
Never say you don't like or hate Jaffa Cakes. The correct thing to say would be, 'It's not my cup of tea', otherwise you will be 6 feet under before you open your mouth again. 😂
Absolutely agree, the effort to send these to someone who raves about Britain to be so ungrateful. I don't care if he liked them or not but how hard is it to be polite & throwing the boxes like that is completely disrespectful.
Wow JT, I'm Australian, but I was offended on behalf of the Brits watching this, especially Dave, that must have cost a lot to buy and post. Those were top tier biscuits, you don't have to like them, but you didn't need to shit all over them. I know you didn't mean it and were kidding around, but sheesh!
We are in lock down at the moment so just getting these and posting them and the effort it no doubt took makes this feel so sad. What some of us would give to have or be able to afford these treats right now.
@@taniaPBearThank you it means a lot. It's been tough for those who are shielding and haven't left their homes in 12 months, let alone trying to get on line shopping and having to make do with what they can get or afford so I guess it has touched a nerve or two.
@@susanashcroft2674 I totally get it. We have very slowly been getting our freedom back, and today is finally the last day of mandatory masks, so there is hope. I know things can change again, but right now everyone is just happy and grateful. I really hope things get better for you soon.
I know you were trying trying to be funny but it came across as completely disrespectful of someone who spent quite a bit of money to send you something . The postage it’s self would have cost quite a bit . No need for the smelling saying are they out of date and to to say something smells like shit really ungrateful. The face pulling and the look of disgust and throwing of the food was completely disrespectful. And yes it did come across as offensive . I have a feeling many of the people who were thinking of sending you something will now not bother . Its good to tell the truth and not pretend to like everything but it could have been done in a less rude way .
It felt uncomfortable as it's ok to dislike something but perhaps the way it came across felt (even if it wasn't intended) ungracious in respect of the time, trouble and expense that someone has taken and gone to and when we are in a pandemic and still in lock down here. The sheer effort of buying and posting this alone would have taken time and risk. I agree it's good to tell the truth but in a less rude way.
I was going to send him something but I won't now. I don't mind him being honest but it seems like he probably won't like most of it so I can't afford to waste my money on something that will probably end up in the bin, especially with circumstances as they are at the moment.
totally agree with everything said in this thread, JT acted like a spoilt 3yr old. I too wont be sending him anything after his ungrateful behaviour in this vid.
I absolutely agree! This video was tasteless, mocking and insulting. Sure, it’s fine if a person doesn’t like something but to behave in this way when someone had taken the time and spent money to send you those gifts is grossly insulting.
So here is a little mind destroyer for you. Americans insist on calling biscuits "cookies" when they should be calling them biscuits. Why? Because they are made by biscuit companies. Oreos, Fig Newtons, Lorna Doon, Nutter Butter, Chips Ahoy and more - made by Nabisco. Nabisco stands for National Biscuit Company.
Despite all the UK videos you have watched you haven't learned any manners. Do you really have to burp and belch next to someone so openly without at least trying to cover your mouth. It's also not what your viewers tune in to see.
To be fare I recently farted in a supermarket queue. You could tell people could smell it. It was a silent one. However it did prove that despite travelling between ass cheeks, underwear, jeans and atmosphere that the face masks people wear don't bloody work
A bit disrespectful here buddy, Its good to be honest but you have to gracious in your reactions, being a picky eater isnt going to help you in this world, getting the chance to try something new is something that should excite you and not disgust you which was how this video came across, I think most of us realise your still young and not world travelled so trying new things is alien to you, as everyone says, give it another go but with a hot drink, open your mind, theres nothing there that will kill you even if its not your favourite thing and really try to taste it and imagine how it can be enjoyed, I would suggest putting a whole Jaffa Cake in your mouth and have a sip of tea, as the flavours melt it will blow your mind!!
