What’s up guys ! In this episode, I explored an abandoned Ames that not only has power, but also has vintage ad banners all over the place. this specific one most likely closed around christmas time as far as I’m aware. With all the romers of Ames making a comeback, do YOU think Ames will make a return this coming summer in 2023 ? Give me your thoughts down below in the comments.

As an avid fan of Ames and someone whose explored a number of abandoned Ames, i loved the exploration! This is one I have not been inside of. I know of 2 that have been completely abandoned since 2002 that I haven't been able to check out. If this is the location I'm thinking it is, thank you for showing us the inside. I was wondering if/when anyone would be able to explore inside of this one. I won't say the location but I'm pretty sure I know. Anyway thanks for the thorough exploration. Great job!

My dad bought our first microwave at Ames back around 1982 or 1983. I inherited it when I went to college and kept it until 2016. It still worked but sometimes you have to move on.

Love this video.. I worked at ames a couple of years befroe they went out of business... I was there when they closed their doors.. Thanks for the trip down memory lane..

I haven't been in an Ames store since the one in my hometown closed 20 years ago. It's since been converted into a Dollar Tree and an Autozone. It's crazy watching this video how the store can look so small, yet so big at the same time.

Ours was turned into a grocery store. I remember going to Ames as a small child and being so awestruck.

Great video. My Mom worked at Ames in the mid to late 1980's, and I would frequently go with her to pick up her paycheck when I was a kid. Seeing the inside of the store again brought back a ton of memories!

would've taken all the cool old signage/papers/bags ALL OF THAT, its all gonna be destroyed when the building goes down sadly, would make nice collectible pieces would also be really epic to find an old price sticker gun at a place like this lol

Like taking a walk back in time. The area with the large wall advertisements must have been part of an old CVS store. Back in the late 70's and early 80's, those ads lined the upper walls above the shelving in its stores.

I only went in an Ames once, right before they closed but I did like it. Sad that it's gone. What does not make me sad however is your channel. I appreciate how you get right to the video without a whole lot of intro chatter and sponsor filler stuff.

It's good that they've kept the lights on as that keeps away the vandals usually. Plus keeping air circulation going in the building has prevented it from getting mold and mildew forming like you see in so many other abandoned building videos. Though if they don't work on those spots where the roof is leaking that caused those ceiling tiles to fall down then it's going to get worse and worse until it's to the point of no return.

Haven't seen an Ames this intact in a long time! A lot of the ones with the signs still up got demolished or repurposed before 2008. Also take note that some of the white paint was stripped away when they removed the shelves on the wall and you can see the original red paint from the A's that used to line the wall.

Would it be a good guess to say the area where the ads on the wall are located used to be possibly a pharmacy (Ames possibly took it for storage)

Those ads in the back have to be from the late 70s maybe early 80s. Guessing this Ames was probably a former Hills/Zayre store prior.

Obviously someone is still maintaining the building being it is in good shape despite the leaking ceiling and the collapsing ceiling panels but, being the fan is on in the store shows there some sort of company trying to maintain the store so it could be set up future use something else.

Who would’ve thought we still have all those brands today pretty much Samsung TVs and phones Magnavox TVs. There’s no longer Polaroid but there still is AT&T kids. Go play with Fisher-Price and little tykes. And they still ride huffy bikes today. I think all those years ago in 2002 you could go to Ames to get a huffy bike And now you can go to Walmart to get a huffy bike all those years you want to get a Samsung TV at Ames CRT TV and now you go get a flat screen Samsung at Walmart smart TV. Wonder if that one was ever a Hills I know Wally B 26 had said some of them were Hills back in the day I think the ones with the round logo on the outside were hills taken over by Ames but the ones we just Ames lettering on it wasn’t original Ames.

There's other abandoned ames that are in way worse condition. You can find videos of them all over RU-vid. This is actually one of the better ones believe it or not

This is nuts...why would you leave a building you own closed in this condition for 20 years?

It could be any number of reasons. From the owner waiting for a big money tenant to the local regulations for its occupancy having changed since this store closed (thus making it expensive to rehab it for future use) to the development company being defunct. Though that last one doesn't seem likely since the building still has power. That backroom area with the vintage ads seems to have been repurposed for that usage complete with the new looking wall section blocking it off.
