I love how Bismuth uplifts Amethyst by calling her Deep Cut, an explanation for her appearance that isn't the usual means of cutting gems, but isn't a defect either. It's a style, not an imperfection.
Considering this was during the whole conflict where Amethyst was feeling self conscious because of Jasper, it made me feel good to see that Bismuth made her feel better.
Well white diamond is the grandma as she did created everyone so the other diamondsare aunts to steven amethystss, and other quartz are stevens half sisters. so any thing that is blue or yellows control is stevens cousins edit :garnet, lapis, bismuth and peridot are stevens cousin and amethyst is really his sister (half sister)
It's interesting how the movie showed Amethyst's origin in more detail. Because she was defective, her body resembled the doll-like base form all Gems show briefly while reforming. And mentally, she didn't seem to know anything and wasn't capable of actual speech at first (just mimicking), making her more similar to a human baby. Gems are normally fully functional the moment they're created: they speak, know some basic information about themselves and maybe even their specific mission. Rebecca Sugar has mentioned earlier that Rose was like a mother to Amethyst and raised her freely and didn't want to burden her with any of the Homeworld's way of thinking. Because Amethyst lacked a lot of that pre-programmed information, this was possible and she is a very unique Gem! An important part of her character development among her self-love is also the fact that she learned to be kind to others. Originally, she could be quite mean (even towards Steven) and didn't really think about others' feelings. And now out of the Crystal Gems, she seems to be the most considerate of Steven's feelings!
Damn that explains why she clashes so much with Garnet and Pearl. Along with missing the war, she never had to unlearn Homeworld programming. Meanwhile poor Garnet and Pearl have trauma up the wazoo.
@@DeathnoteBB Her relationship with Steven, Garnet and Pearl is basically like the chaotic older sister with her very rigid parents that haven’t healed from their traumas, and her confused little brother who’s a burnt out gifted kid.
7:30 there was a story I remember about amethyst and Dionysus/Bacchus. One day, the god was so fed up with humanity that he would send a lion/tiger/leopard (depending on the versions) to maul the next mortal to come by. Unfortunately, this next mortal was a young and innocent girl named Amethysta. Dionysus was too late to stop his beast from killing the girl, so he turned the poor thing into a white crystal. With remorse in his heart, the god cried tears of wine that fell onto the crystal and dyed it a brilliant violet. and that's the myth of how amethyst came to be. (this may also be an ester egg for why amethyst is sleeping with a lion and a tiger in the opening of the pilot)
I believe amethyst has fire powers, seeing as when she does her spin attack she bursts into purple flames and she burped the same purple fire after drinking cooking oil. And, while this could just be a fusion power, Alexandrite has fire breath, Amethyst is the only one of the three to share similar powers to that. :^00
disgusting-deer well, about Alexandrite, Ruby is also a gem with fire/heat powers. That’s why their fusions are extremely “steamy” and “hot-headed” and that is really dope!
HoodlumScraggy 1 Bruh. I just realized that fire is basically a visual expression of energy , so anytime someone says “energy” when talking about a visual , they could mean fire.
I’m sorry for trying to use less formal speaking when talking about a single real subject amongst fictional subjects , I will go throw myself in the dungeon for my crimes against humanity.
My family hates me anyways , go for it. I don’t see why you had to pick at one thing I said because it was informal . It’s stupid , maybe you need to check your own sass.
@@xxflowerfamkxx1670 Same!!! I am a weird mix of her and Pearl. It seems like that totally shouldn't exist but it does. I intend on getting an amethyst tattoo over myself harm scars. I had to learn the same lesson she did- that no matter what happens in life, you have people that are going to stick by you. You won't be alone even when you think you are.....and that it's okay to reach out for help, feel your feelings and have days when you think you are just your rockin' bad ass self. Maybe it is my bi polar that really lets me relate to amethyst. I can be having a very down on myself sad almost can't get out of bed day....but yet when I see other people I am cracking the jokes, being the clown and happy- or at least seemingly happy or pretending. Sometimes I don't even realize I am doing it. Amethyst is my girl over her....her and a touch of Pearl's outward sadness. I actually think that Pearl and Amethyst share many of the same emotions about their self worth but they express it differently.
After you get all the single gems done, you should do fusions, describing what they represent, what kind of relationship the fusion is, and the real gem equivalents
Amethyst in my opinion symbolizes someone who hides her insecurities because she hates herself. She tries to make everything about everyone else. She doesn’t want to talk about herself or her feelings because she is different from everyone else. In the end she learns to accept herself and learn she can put herself first sometimes and care about herself.
Amethyst is, I think the best gem and most human of them all. I think a lot of characters fail to see that Amethyst clowns around and is silly because she is hiding the hurt in her. She has deep feelings and she hides them behind her antics. Amethyst is actually the deepest of all the gems because her pain is so real when you realize how much she is hiding. She has low self esteem and hides behind this big over the top personality. I want to get a tattoo of her to remind me of how I am a lot like her but, she grows emotionally a lot through the whole series and I love that for her. I love that the maker of this video can see how Amethyst really needs the most love and support out of all the characters because she needs the reminder. When you see the episode where Amethyst shows Steven the Kindergarten you really get an idea of the real Amethyst. I love also the song in Steven Universe the movie because "Be Right By Your Side" Shows how she has learned that she can be herself and count on Steven to love her even when she feels less deserving of that love. She is such a great character. I relate to her so so much!
Amethyst went from my least favourite of the OG gems to my most. After the ep What's You're Problem, Steven and amethyst cemented themselves as the most mature gems imo and their sibling relationship makes them such strong characters
SHE IS A CRYSTAL GEM (BUH BUH) SHE'LL ALWAYS SLEEP DURING THE DAY, AND IF YOU THINK SHE CAN'T, SHE'LL TURN INTO PURPLE PUMA AND PUMMEL YOU WITH A CHAIR... THAT'S WHY THE PEOPLE OF THIS WORLD BELIEVE IN, BEING HER FRIEND, CUS SHE'S AMAZING.
5:16 I just love this here. Peridot just not being able to be in the same vicinity as reset amethyst, followed up by amethyst hitting her back with one of the best lines ever. She was annoyed too, and peridot I was excited/happy amethyst was back to normal
I personally see amethyst as a version of shadow that got a better life. This is because of how similar they are. Some of these similarities are: - they both were meant to be soldiers - they both use similar attacks - both feel like they were mistakes or monsters, not meant to be happy or with people - both got friends who act like their family - both have a cocky rival with similar abilities - both love to fight
Amethyst produces small but detectable of magnetic fields. While high levels of magnetic fields are dangerous (particularly from electronics), the naturally-occurring magnetic fields from amethyst may actually produce favorable results in the body
I feel like, in some ways, I can relate to Amethyst. I can be a bit immature sometimes. I've been told to "grow up." I can be anxious when everyone around me is arguing. I have a bit of an interest in art, but I'm not very good. I can be insecure about my looks, especially my height. I can be a jokester, but, at the end of the day, I would do anything for my friends and family.
Something I had thought of after watching this was that Amethyst may be like short and February is the shortest month and amethyst is the birth stone of people born in febuary
The line "Yo im back you dip" is just, perfection. Also, Ive struggled with similar feelings when it comes to some topics, like games I play, and it sucks.
From her behavior in "Maximum capacity" (where she chews out Greg for caring more about Rose, eventually shape-shifting into Rose), i kinda got the impression that she either has, or at one point had, a bit of a crush on Greg. Originally thought that maybe the two of them had a relationship before Greg went with Rose, but the flashback episodes kinda killed that. Don't think it's been hinted at or touched on since though, so i'm probably wrong on the whole crush thing.
I always liked Amethyst a lot, and this just makes me like her even more, because I feel like she's such a relatable character. I also have been known to carry a small piece in my pocket, for no reason. Now I guess I have a small reason.
I feel like Amethyst is a lot like me, likes to have fun and mainly not doing what everyone else is doing What makes this fit even more is that amethyst is my birthstone lol
Technically,Amethyst is the only one who has been a "baby" before.Gems don't really grow physically, but goes to show,Amethyst learns to grow physically and mentally. She's probably the one of the most relatable gems out of all of them(FYI I'm saying ONE of the most, not the most).
“I can’t be even the one thing I’m supposed to be, you know?” This shows Amethyst doesn’t notice how much she does right. She wrestles, exactly what a quartz soldier was made to do. Fight. Of course she has her own identity beyond that, but I’m pointing out that she fails to see what she excels at. I like Amethyst a lot. She’s a good compliment to Steven, in that neither know as much about homeworld as the others and sometimes struggle with belonging. Amethyst even helps Steven by telling him he doesn’t need to be everyone’s security. She’s definitely up on the favorite list. Relatable, fun, and excellent design.
I love the origin story the Greeks gave to amythist it's amazing. Long story short lady was being chased by tigers sent by Dionysus and he felt bad so he poured wine on the stone
I love how close she was with steven and not only steven but greg too. I think outta all of them her not being in the war made more human.....no that's not the right word for it. It made her more innocent yea yea that's it I mean heck she was basically a child version of a gem when greg came into their lives. And yes I love lil bulter too he's cute as heck.
Great video! One thing though: Is no one going to talk about the episode with Greg’s storage unit how they clearly implied Amethyst slept with him while shapeshifted as Rose??
Another thing you could have said is that aquarians 10 to hide negative emotions most to bring out what other people would expect like happiness and bubbliness just like amethyst does and she try not to be sad especially in episode where she's trying to comfort Steven after finding out his mom is pink diamond
And I feel like she represents the colony's gem production as well. Amethysts were made with Pink and Blue's sweat, Jaspers Yellow and Pink and maybe Rose Quartzes with White and Pink. This is why their colored the way they are probably
I LOVE THIS SERIES!! You guys do a wonderful job on these videos. I would love to see one of these on Rose Quartz. Thank you guys for making these. Kris, it's always a joy to listen to you, you're so sweet and charismatic I love your videos.
I think its interesting. Garnet is the wise one Steven can look to for guidance, Pearl is like a second mother. But Amethyst approaches Steven from a friend angle. She can relate to him the best personality wise. Steven needed each of these figures to become the good guy he was. Amethyst seems like just a "bro" but, she has as much depth and personality as Pearl and Garnet. But, Amethyst hides her flaws and pain behind humor. Where as Garnet hides behind strength and Pearl behind composure. So we have steven learning to be strong, composed and fun - a very well rounded personality but, we get an early glimpse at why and how steven would learn to hide his emotions and suffer
I always thought I was more of a Pearl then an Amethyst, but this video makes me think I might have a little bit more in common with the purple gem then I thought.
Amethyst's value can very. Depending on the size, the color and the condition of the crystal. So a big prestine crystal with a very deep and consistent violet can cost you an arm and a leg
I just realized. The reason Amethyst can spin dash like Sonic is because that's a skill she uses to make up for her lack of height. Meaning that Amethyst pretty much used a draw back of hers, as a useful skill. I'm not an expert but I'm pretty sure the shorter a creature is, the more fast they are.
I don't really get how Amethyst looked like a baby in the kindergarten, and then how she looks like a kid with Rose Quarts and looks like herself with Steven. Can you please explain that?
I feel like amethyst shapeshifting prowess comes from the hundreds if not thousands of years she spent I’m mimic mode. So naturally she is exceptionally great at shapeshifting into other beings and objects.
I know it is super late. Just got a recommendation for this for some reason. A fun fact about amethysts. The variety called bavarian amethyst are extremely expensive. They are known for their blue flashes within their purple gemstones. And most valuable if flawless/eye clean. They can got for about $5/carat compared to normal clean amethyst that goes for around $1/carat. And the crystals people use that are really junky/wand quality, they go for around $.01-$.50/carat. The variety is due to the fact that amethysts aren't known to be eyeclean always resulting in lower quality assumption. I cut gemstones, trust me the piece I have of bavarian amethyst was a lot for something the size of your pinky nail.
I remember always hating Amethyst for being gross at 1st, it wasn't until "I didn't ask to be born" that I felt anything for the character. I hated myself for being born with bad genetics, for being an utter failure, never quite good enough. Of course unlike Amethyst I will never actually come to accept the parts of myself I don't like & have every intention of escaping from the body I despise when I have the chance.
As someone living with special needs who also has some slight motor skill impairments, I can connect with Amethyst slightly. All my life; I grew up with capable farmers, workers and athletes in my family. This, unknown to THEM, caused me to feel...just a smidge inadequate by comparison. Even now, I still have those feelings; especially since I can't live on my own due to my special needs. But to combat these feelings, I look towards my skills as a writer
Thanks Kris Carr I wanted to revisit some old videos I like and not have a mental break through on the imposter syndrome thing all that was said matches me.
