But for the most part when I see that term and if I had to guess the definition of it from context it would be: people not intending to be racist and maybe people with good intentions but are to oblivious to realize how condescending they actually are. My dad was a Democrat and a teacher. I am glad he taught us how to think and not what to think. He admitted that his party of preference decision had to do with enhancing our family's economic position, by voting to keep his union in control of the public purse. None of my siblings have grown up to become Democrats, nor have I.
I teach my children how to think. I teach them to turn the circumstances around and see all sides. I teach them to try not to base an opinion nor judge, because once they do... they may find a different perspective. And I always teach them how to research deep, way beyond media, psychologically, instinctively, back door.... etc.

English, social studies, math, and most importantly... the chorus teachers. I remember when the 2016 presidential election waas. The fact that people would think that there are people who don't want to show ID before voting, to me, is insane. I WANT to show ID, because the last thing I want, as a voter, is for someone to go to the polls and say they were me and take MY vote. During the last election, at my polling place there was a very elderly woman who was being denied a vote because someone had come in earlier and used her name to vote. I don't know if I've ever seen a more classy dignified 85 years + old woman be so overwhelmed and angry/saddened. The poll workers handed her some kind of ballot with a stipulation attached that her vote wouldn't be counted but instead kept on file in the event that her case was investigated. I felt like the poor woman's floor fell right out from under her.

When I read "poor children are just as talented as white kids", I interpreted it as being all poor kids are of different races and ethnic groups than white kids. A non-racist person is not going to say something along those lines simply because they are not thinking or entertaining ideas like that.

@@AATT-py7tn I'm from The Bahamas. Our voting system is a democracy. We have a prime minister and cabinet ministers/ members of parliament that we vote in (left over from the British rule). Everyone MUST have an up to date voter's card in order to vote. We are divided into constituencies based on your address, and you can only vote at your polling division in your constituency. The party with the most voted members wins the election and becomes the governing party. Each constituency has a representative from each party, and so essentially, if you want your party to win, you vote for the member of your constituency representing your party, although some people prefer to vote according to who they feel will better serve their constituency. We have never ever dealt with voting fraud. Our voter's cards are not electronic and must be applied for and obtained in person, yet there is no problem with people having access to getting one.

ssjwes Exactly. We all have hopes, joys and sorrows, and loved ones who we want the best for. Homeschooling should probably extend through college these days... I went to teacher college in the 1970s and even then, my Sociology courses all taught books where the black people were all unemployed urban drug addicts. It was almost like “This is what to expect if you teach in black neighborhoods,” though of course the professors would never come out and say that. I didn’t really know any black people but that make no sense at all to me. I wondered “Why are we reading this?” They really do teach you to expect nothing from black students and parents without ever saying that out loud.
