Composed by Shaun Southern and Andrew Morris Recorded straight from game with Audacity on ASUS Xonar DGX sound card using WinUAE to emulate Amiga Paula OCS (MOS8364, 4 channels 8-bit PCM chip) sound.
I used to play this almost obsessively as a kid. I still remember the day my dad challenged me to beat him at this. I had a broken wrist, I still won. Then he asked why I was playing with my other hand... had to go to A&E after that!
The music in this one's by Shaun Southern and Andrew Morris. In Top Gear, Southern's credited for "Bordeaux" (remix of Opening), "Frankfurt" (Track 03), and "Hiroshima" (Track 04). Barry Leitch's original pieces ("Title", "Las Vegas", "Ending Theme", "Qualify Theme") and his rearrangements of Southern's pieces in Top Gear are mind-blowingly good! Thanks for the timestamps!
Still one of the best Amiga Games ever and soundtrack as i saw the Game the first Time as a C64 owner i was thinking that this Machine is unreal, it was a Monster.......
i dont know the word/meaning in English, but in german its called: "Ohrwurm"....If i listen to that song, its wont leave my head! The whole day long, even if im aslept, i hear that song in my dreams!! its crazy!
Never gets too 'old' (aged). In that matter it's maybe even 'better' than the sequels. The title track is baked / and flowing in my mind with any detail 'till the end of days.. .
RU-vid is awesome for this type of thing and so are you for bothering to post it! I loved this tune so much, I got my friend to put it on Tape Cassette for me! I think i was 10-11 year old. Thanks for posting.
Lotus order Top Gear order LTC1 Title=New York/Bordeaux LTC1 Track 3=San Francisco/Frankfurt LTC1 Track 4=Los Angeles/Hiroshima LTC2 Ending=Title Any other?
1:50 My favorite few seconds of this soundtrack right there. OMG, the memories. I played this game a lot when I was, so much younger than I am today. Hard level lotus legend by the way, though I really don't know if that is impressive or not, but I'll happily just choose to believe it is. Thanks for the great times to those who made this game possible!
I used to love pc lotus while my friends top gear on snes during mid 90s and after all these years I find out they actually have the same roots. God I miss those days and those friends☺️
God, I'm getting lost in this extensive soundtrack. Number 3 (6:54) still seems obviously inspired by the song "Dangerous" by the band Roxette to me. It still baffles me how these guys were able to get a whole game like this onto a SINGLE 880 Kb floppy disk, and then still have room to put such a diverse and extensive soundtrack on it. Gotta love MIDI.
I literally crashed an old car I had years ago driving to a party in bc because i was listening to a remix of this song on a road with deep gravel. even with all of that, i still love these songs. as the tattoo says, no regerts.
I haven’t checked if this music soundtrack is available on Amazon music or iTunes or any other music platform but fuck, if it was and you had it playing in your own car.... how hard will the accelerator be pushed into the floor. Driving like your in the game
Completely agree with you, sir. Amiga had better sound chips. If you want another works from the composer, Barry Leitch, check "Horizon Chase". It has new versions of his works.
3.17 for me, this boy's a rocker! Memories of driving over sunset hills with this thumping out. The only downside for me was that single player was just half screen.
No, I mean the songs themselves are reproduced. The encoding is different, obviously, but the notes are the same. Which is fine; they're great songs! :D
The composer (Barry Leitch) said on an interview that Kemco (producer of Top Gear) gave him 5 days to do the soundtrack. His compositions used the Amiga sintetizer, but they didn't like and said to the composer to use they're own samples. He said that the only way to do in 5 days would be to reuse his past works, and they were ok with it.
