Great reaction! What makes this even more awesome is that it was totally spontaneous and impromptu! Amira lives in South Africa with her Mom and brother, but she was visiting her Dad in Holland. They decided to go into the church of her childhood on a Saturday morning to apparently relive some memories. Her Dad sits down at the organ and begins playing this song, and Amira, from total recall, with no sheet music or lyrics, and no practice beforehand, begins to sing flawlessly like an absolutely divine angel that she is!
Have followed Amira for 10 years. She walked into the empty church in the Netherlands with her father on the organ. She was visiting for Christmas. Before she left South Africa she sang on Dec. 7, in a church, with her friend, Katherine Hamman (Panis Angelicus, on You Tube).
Thank you Teacher Paul for posting this Video.Amira sang this hymn in an empty church in The Netherlands, her father playing the pipe organ and her boyfriend D J Stoop, recording the performance with a cell phone. This was a sublime performance by all concerned, good acoustics and the etherial voice of the one and only Amira.Cheers from, Michael Jonathan Lewis, Johannesburg,South Africa.
It is amazing. My brother in law is Dutch, and he sent me an email + attachment of amira 's HGT audition way back. I didn't realise it was the start of a career , so didn't follow her until I stumbled on a load of her performance's on you tube a few years later. First the Andre Rieu concert, then other songs, like o holy night. It was quite a treasure hunt, finding all of her videos. I've been following her closely for about three years, and think this is one of her best recent video's. Everything seemed to come together so well. And her voice is gorgeous.
I love this video.. discovered Amira's audition by chance in 2015 and been a big fan ever since and fortunate to get to a few of her concerts since. This video is special because it's rare that she posts an informal one like this.. and the acoustics in the church are stunning. And her dad's organ playing is beautifully gentle and thus not impeding the hearing of her voice at all. A glorious combination from the two of them.
Amira Amira Amira simply fantastic fantastic fantastic perfect perfect perfect magnificent magnificent magnificent absolutely incomparable the best of the best Amira is not real she is a special angel from God Ave Amira a princess of heaven❤❤thank God for Amira
She is amazingly talented. You did pretty good with her name, only in Dutch is pronounce like a “V”. The organ playing in the background may be her father.
If you want to get the pronunciation of "Amira Willighagen", see her version of "when you wish upon a star" . She has a verbal preface in which she itroduces her fater and herself. See ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--JqvBVN76pQ.html
And a great one to listen to too... A bit like this one, just accompanied by her father on piano and a gorgeous and sincere version of the song When You Wish Upon a Star's from her..
Keep in mind that she won’t hit her prime for another 6 to 8 years. She’s already world class, my Lord, what will she be when she is 26 or 27 years old and her voice has matured in full. Crazy…
