Great reaction! I'm also a Us Navy Vietnam vet served 1967-1970 on the Kearsarge and Hornet. I have been following Amira since she was 12. An absolute amazing talent. Amira has a a lot of respect for war veterans all over the globe. Not too long ago Amira did a tribute to US vets with her father. She performed "When you wish upon a star" a Disney favorite we Americans listened to every Sunday evening on the Disney show in the 60's. Before she started to sing she gave an oral tribute to US vets and brought me to tears. Amira has a really huge heart and is very busy looking after the underprivilege children in South Africa. Her story is something you might be interested in. She's also very down to earth and focused on her faith.
Sorry to make two comments, but the reason, I believe, that these people are so important is that they can reach thousands, maybe millions of people and help make the world a better place
I believe that this video of her debut performance is the greatest “reaction video”. But you see as you follow her career she never fails to give a jaw dropping performance.
Amira is an angel. Not only her voice, but her whole stage presence is amazing. She uses half of her earnings to build playgrounds in the townships of South Africa. Incidentally, it was not so far-fetched that she talked about wanting to compete in the Olympic Games. She had already repeatedly won middle distances and had several trophies in her cabinet. Among other things, an annual middle-distance race is held in her home town for anyone interested, in which she repeatedly took first place.
Angelina Jordan, Amira Willighagen, Diana Ankudinova...all born within a year or two of eachother, each literally growing up on stage. All incredible gifts from God.
@@paulschmehl2124 , allow me to add another two young ladies who have also been singing prodigies since childhood -- Laura Bretan (21 year old Romanian-American from Chicago & a deeply committed Christian, who sings opera, classical crossover, & Christian songs); then Lucy Thomas (20 year old British from Wigan, England, who sings pop, movie songs, theatrical stage, classical crossover, ballads, & Christian songs). These two are 24-carat DIAMONDS, like Angelina & Amira, well worth checking out!
@@paulschmehl2124 - Then there's Amira's friend, Alma Deutscher just a year younger. Alma is being compared to Mozart and she lives in Vienna. She also has composed classical music including an opera titled Cinderella, she excels in the violin, piano and sings too; she is now conducting her opera. There's a YT video of them performing a short selection together called Duet of the Stepsisters from Cinderella, so cute together; Alma was 10, Amira was 11. It was a charity concert held in St Martin's Church, Brasted, UK. The purpose was to raise funds for the Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) Foundation in memory of 21-month-old Rex Gooden who died in February 2015. Amira started her own Gelukskinders Foundation to build playgrounds for underprivileged school children in South Africa where she now lives and attends university. She donates 1/2 of her earnings to this Foundation. As i am almost 74 i am so blessed that God led me to her through a bizarre ad on Facebook or i'd never have found her. Happy Easter! He is Risen!

Hello ! A nice reaction again. About this very first performance, Amira said in an interview that, when the three judges first looked at her saying "What ?", she wondered "Is it ugly?", but then people were clapping and saying "Wooo!",so she thought this was a good sign... She looked so spontaneous and simple, and it'still the case ten years later. And yes, it would be definitely a good idea to react to her rendition of the Ave Maria composed by William Gomez. Amira was 11 then and she did an absolute masterpiece, with, in my opinion, a very good technique already and large part of brilliant improvisation too.
I hope you have the time and interest to watch all her performances on Hollands Got Talent and then move on to the concerts she did in South Africa. She is the one who first let me know that the world is going to be OK when I’m gone (age 77). Then came Angelina, whom you know already. I’m at peace now.

Amira has a very strong faith and has some absolutely beautiful religious songs such as “The Lord’s Prayer “ and her most recent release, “ Down From His Glory”. She has others such as “ Amen “ & “Amazing Grace “ plus many more. One of my favourites is when Amira was 11 yo performing “ AVE MARIA by Gomez at the Canisius Church. This is one you should ensure is on your list as it is simply breathtaking. Her power, her passion together with her phenomenal vocal range and perfect pitch leaves me spellbound every time. Two early appearances of Amira you should see are the same aria on stage with Andre Rieu, and O Sole Mio, a duet with Patrizio Buanne, at the age of 12.
The girl waiting at the back of the set looks like she's thinking, "Bring the car round - we've come second." Over the whole rounds of this competition, Amirs scored more votes than all the other competitors combined.

Correction: regarding my US Vet comment I said Amira dedicated the song “Over the rainbow” in error, it was “When you wish upon a star” from Pinocchio. Sorry my memory isn’t what use to be.
Don't laugh at her Olympic asppirations - she's was a Dutch national champion Distance runner at 8 and in 2019 was selected for the South African Olympic team - stopped by Covid - that's where she gets her incrdible breath control.
If you watch more of Amira 's wonderful videos, you'll become accustomed to emotional and inspirational moments. She repeatedly blows the audience away. It's been said that Chantelle was leaning forward and staring at Amira because she was concerned that she was miming and frightened that she wasn't... she wasn't.
"O Mio Babbino Caro" (O my dear papa) is from the opera "Gianni Schicchi" written by Puccini in 1918. It is a comic opera, set in the 17th century, in which a 15 year old girl "Lauretta" is trying (and succeeding) to wind her father around her finger to let her buy a wedding ring so she can marry the boy of her choice . . . It has become a "showpiece" for operatic sopranos. This audition was recorded on August 31, 2013, but was not broadcast until October.

Thank you, sir, for a wonderful reaction to this wonderful performance by our wonderful AMIRA ("Princess" in Arabic)! Please react to her other Holland's Got Talent performcances plus the video which shows her winning the season's contest (something she does when she wins is hilarious)! Then, you should react to her doing this same song in concert with world-renowned conductor and violinist Andre Rieu at age 10, several months after this show. Much like you and me, she is a Christian deeply committed to her faith in Christ, and doesn't shy away from expressing it in both singing and commentary. Of the hundreds of times I've ever heard John Newton's "Amazing Grace," Amira's rendition at age THIRTEEN is the absolute BEST, as well as her rendtion of "Nearer My God To Thee" at age 16!
