Great Amira! "Pie" means Merciful. The lyrics are in Latin, as is often the case with almost all religious music. The full lyrics are very short: "Merciful Lord Jesus, grant them rest (everlasting)". This is the kind of music that you can only appreciate if you relax, calm your brain, let go of your thoughts, allow your mind to be serene like the surface of a lake. Try it. I've heard several singers, including sopranos, sing this song. They don't come close to Amira's magic.

A nice reaction again ! This is a piece of liturgic music, composed by the great French musician Gabriel Fauré between 1887 and 1890. Initially it was made to be performed at church, as a choral setting during the catholic mass for the dead. Its focus is on eternal rest and consolation. Pie Jesu is the fourth section of it, actually just two lines of text from the final couplet of the Latin hymn ‘Dies irae" (Day of wrath, which refers to Doomsday, but here Fauré emphasized mercy rather than judgment). However, it can be also sung separatedly by a soloist lyric soprano, as Amira did. She performed it last year, during the divine office in Grote Kerk, a reformed church in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. Fauré's Requiem is generally considered as one of the most moving works in the whole classical occidental music, and Amira pays it tribute in her inimitable angelic way..

Like Ave Maria, several composers have produced a version of this. Sometimes you will hear her singing the Andrew Lloyd Webber one. She sang that version in her 2019 Christmas concert. Similar lyrics, different tune. If you haven't listened to her Ave Maria, Gomez from 2015, I do recommend it. It's impressive. If you want to hear her sing in Dutch, and thee are not many songs which she does in Dutch, listen to Zoals Vrienden Doen. A video of it with an English translation was posted by Ray Vandenburg. I like it a lot, but hardly any reactors have viewed it.

I discovered Amira because I am a huge fan of Jackie Evancho and have been since I first discovered her back in 2010. So I saw that Jackie had messaged Amira her congratulations and best wishes after Amira audition on Holland's Got Talent in 2013. Jackie performed Pie Jesu on America's Got Talent in 2010 when she was 10 years old, and many times since then.
