Amish Buggy Ride With My Mom in law 

Somehow, I am very attracted to the Amish/Mennonite way of life. I miss my school days which was in an Irish missionary school in Calcutta, India, an oasis of calmness, cleanliness, peace and greenness among the surrounding mess. I hope this way of living survives till end of time and people remain happy.

I lived near Amish country in PA and have seen many buggies but the perspective from inside the buggy was lovely. Thank you for sharing this part of your life. ❤ (edited for spelling)

I'm no stranger to farm fields but I've never seen the from the view of a horse and buggy. What a nice change of pace. I hope your leg heals fast so you can go the next time.

These horses remind me of the Trotting horses we have in Europe, long back, withers a bit further back than a riding horse, long necks, long bodies. Very specific style of horse for driving. Compare a Trotting horse, carriage horse, with a race horse and you can see the difference. Either way, I just love horses and so happy to see the Amish value these beautiful animals as they are meant to, by using them daily. x

I drive a mini Shetland and have a Carriage for a bigger pony who s currently in training. Nice to see a big fast horse really munching the miles.. You know, people in flash cars glare at me when I'm driving the mini shet, cos they know a cute pony trumps any car 😅

I'd love to live in Amish country. But diabetes rendered me legally blind a few years ago so I no longer drive. So if I ever move out of Connecticut, I need to find a place close to grocery shopping, retina specialist, a podiatrist and an animal hospital. And those facilities don't seem to be located near farm land.

I really enjoyed the buggy ride. It is such a different perspective from buggies used for recreational driving to a buggie used as a mode of travel in all kinds of weather. It did bother me, your husband and the commentator during the ride and his remarks on the horse's need to eliminate during the drive to his son - making it something disgusting instead of natural and the choices some families make in order to keep their farm. I would have hoped he would have more tolerance to people's choices in life. I come from a Mennonite background and it was necessary for families to keep their animals in the same building as their home to prevent their loss through prediction or freezing to death when they first came to Canada.

You need to teach those animal abusers to be kinder to their livestock. Stop abusing the horses and then sending them to slaughter auctions. Those animals deserve to be treated with love and respect.😢
