I grew up in Holmes County Ohio and I use to laugh at the people that flocked there to get the "hand made" Amish furniture and such. They had some of the nicest power tool shops I have seen.
What I noticed in this particular shop is the owner was using the already glued up wide panels for his furniture that were most likely built at the regular factory...:)
Kudos for the Video! Apologies for butting in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you considered - Rassiff Amazing Woodwork Blaster (should be on google have a look)? It is a good exclusive guide for woodworking plans without the normal expense. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my work buddy got astronomical success with it.
Electric power converting to pneumatic is very inefficient, it is used in spaces where explosive atmosphere can occur. Also pneumatic tools turbines should be regularly lubricated. But that train at the end is EPIC! :)
To each his own but does God give these guys his blessing with extra bonus points because they exploited just the right loopholes without breaking a single rule?
@CrazyRissianWoodShop do you have any book recommendations that show how to duplicate a wood shop the way the Amish have without electricity? I’d like to build my own self sustaining community. The closest I’ve managed to see how they do this is your video. I’d like a DIY book to build it all myself with tools, materials, blue print kinda book. See Joel Salatin Polyface Designs book. Its great for individual farm buildings but I’d like a book that will expand on the entire community. The butcher, the baker, candlestick maker, the blacksmith, wood shop etc. Any recommendations?
Thank you for showing the Truth.. This is a BUSINESS workshop not a hobby. I could list more. but if want to sell against him or think he had low cost products you are out in the sun too long.! If you want shop ideas look for them, but you cannot run your business like his.... or maybe you can. Hals Wood Shop
I like your video! We live here in Pennsylvania, about 25 miles from this Amish shop. I also do woodworking and decided to take my mom out for mother's day to see the mini horses there. I also have a RU-vid video of it on my channel if you'd like to check it out.
Don't kid yourself. They all have a cellphone in their pocket. It has no wires to the house so that's OK. It's about distance and independance from the govt Here they all run a business and use electricity, but with Huge Diesel generators - locomotive sized engines. Using pneumatic is pretty inefficient, you have engine heat loss, then compressed air heat loss - but it's pretty safe in the dusty environment too.
So the Amish are using pocket holes now and its all legit because its air not electric LOL. Buggy has LED lights and gauges - I think its fair to say these are Fake Amish, must be good money
Well, whatever they do (let's put their beliefs/rituals aside for now) they seem to be doing better than us. They are feeding themselves and a bunch of us, building houses/furniture for themselves as well as others, and finally, they are the fastest growing small community in the US by some statistics I read... Go figure who is doing the right thing...
Not fake amish I live in lancaster county and I can tell you they throw as many loopholes as they can and I'm pretty sure some church allow electricity for their businesses and cabins they build just not their houses
just goes to show hypocrisy at its best. if you are going to use electric tools, use them. not try to dance around with a limited amount and wasting time (and losses) with air conversions. all under the guise that the power grid is a "luxury", guess what so are cordless drills and miter saws, these would classify as worldly luxuries. neat ideas but all a desperate attempt to lie to themselves.
