Big B did this scene on request from the director Baz Luhrmann who was a friend. He didn't charge for it either if I remember correctly. It was a small role and he just decided to have some fun. At the primer of the great Gatsby, when amitabh bacchhan came in his car to the red carpet, huge amount of fans gathered to see him. Most Americans thought Leo had come that's why so much excitement, only to see amitabh signing autographs Then they googled, who is amitabh;)

Actually, the director of the film is a dear friend of BIG B and hence he did that small part just for the sake of friendship coz the director wanted badly to work with him once....And he didn't take any renumeration for that as well..

Guys... having lived in America..let me tell you that whenever an indian person takes an uber and the driver is from africa(a lot of them are) the first thing they say is Ah India...Amitabh Bachchan..that's the level of fame he has.. he is synonymous with the name of his country..

Yes I agree that when I saw this scene I have to say... Amitabh was the heaviest in his scenes in persona.. Which is a big deal to pull in a foreign environment with stars like leo... Through of course amitabh has been for bigger for longer time, sadly to born in india and without an Oscar else I bet he would have has more then one 🙂
