Thank you so much for your transparency. I have only done local art markets and have yet to try any cons, but honest reviews and breakdowns like this make it seem less intimidating and motivates me to put myself out there.
cons can seem so daunting but if you do your research and just put yourself out there you may be pleasantly surprised!! when i started out, i wished there were more artists who were transparent about their experiences so im happy my content has been helpful!
I did the show in 2022, my experience was it was slow but my spot was bad. The odd thing was, that even if i only saw 3 people an hour, 2 of those 3 people would make a large purchase. I think its a con where apparel does well, but I did sell less pins than I usually would. Apparel item sales made up the bulk of what I made.
i sold a lot of totes at this show but my acrylic charms were my best seller. regardless, it was still incredibly slow this year. other artists i talked to at the con this year felt similarly. weather may have been a factor for how abysmal friday was but overall the show was quite disappointing.
actually they both have the same attendance! they're very similar in size with both averaging at around 10k attendees. but thank you, i hope my next con is much better because AMKE was very disappointing TT
I tabled at this con too! Funnily enough, it was the best Friday I've ever done for a con, but also the WORST Sunday... Make over $1k Friday but barely $300 on Sunday. Really is a mixed bag con😅
omg thank you for sharing your experience also you're totally right, it definitely is a mixed bag. those are really really great sales for a friday though!!! definitely one of those weird hit or miss shows but it definitely could've been worse haha
yes there are a few cons that have no sticker policies! they're typically venue policies that a con has to follow. most of the time, cons with these policies have them because of issues in the past with people damaging property with stickers TT
yeahhhh people definitely haggle at almost any kind of event and they tend to be quite shameless about it. you just gotta know how to respond and move on with your day... i will say that i only really let kids get away with haggling at my booth lmao
@Ville I haven't. I replied to you the day or so after you asked. I suppose posts like that (where you point someone to a different page etc.) get filtered out ? Idk.
