This video from the AMNH Hall of Vertebrates introduces four major groups of fishes: the Osteichthyes (i.e. bony fishes including the ray-finned Actinopterygians), Chondrichthyes (cartilaginous fishes), the Ostracoderms (extinct jawless fishes - agnathans), and the first jawed fishes (gnathostomes) the extinct Placoderms. I also introduce some of the major morphological adaptations in the evolution of vertebrates including the evolution of paired fins, the heterocercal tail, jaws, and limbs. We will cover all of this much more extensively when I return.
