Best riff ive heard in a long ass time. Heavy, melodic, straight to the point, and feels like ur proudly marching into battle knowing u may die. Awsome
Always been a Nirvana fan bc it was real as can be and loved that picture. Nirvana was real, and metal, with their own sound that had true metal influence. And real metal that never sells out is what runs deepest for me. Amon Amarth is just that kind of badass and real that I look for.. Thanks for the comment
----- lyrics ----- The warming sun returns again And melts away the snow The sea is freed from icy chains Winter is letting go Standing on the ocean side We can hear the waves Calling us out with tide To sail into our fate Odin! Guide our ships Our axes, spears and swords Guide us through storms that whip And in brutal war Our ships await us by the shore Time has come to leave Our country, family and homes For riches in the east Some of us won't return But that won't bring us down Our fate is written in the web Woven by the Norns A ram is sacrificed Across the longship's bow And as we set our sails A strong breeze starts to blow It carries us out to sea With hope of fame and pride And glorious all will be That with sword in hand will die Odin! Guide our ships Our axes, spears and swords Guide us through storms that whip And in brutal war Odin! Guide our ships Our axes, spears and swords Guide us through storms that whip And in brutal war

This song saved my life. I was always the weird lanky kid and was constantly bullied in middle school. Then I was introduced to this song and its lyrics affected me in a way that changed me. I went back to that bully with my newfound bulging muscles, and as he fled, leaving a trail of urine behind him, I sank my axe into the back of his skull from 100 yards away. His vertebrae still serve as excellent beard rings to this day.
*Windmills powerful long hair* ODIN!! GUIDE OUR SHIPS! OUR AXES SPEARS AND SWORDS!! GUIDE US THROUGH STORMS THAT WHIP! AND!! IN BRUTAL WAR!!!*Brutal death growl*
This was the first song I heard from Amon Amarth several years ago. Within days I owned several of their albums.. Johans voice is freaking awesome !!! 🤘
This band is awesome. Good lyrics, good instrumental, good musicians and a lot of power and energy in the music. The humanity is in fault of Amon Amarth
Saw these guys May 16th. First band to perform and they played this song first. It was truly amazing. I'm so thankful to see this band live. I just wish it wasn't storming and flooding that day so this band could play longer.
Thanks now my husband has hacked all the furniture to pieces and is now demanding gold and sex from the neighbors......I better go get him before he fights the police
Must have been 15 or 16 years old. Was listening to Metallica and Slayer and just recently started to play guitar. Back then, sunday evening, MTV2 was playing some more niche metal. And this has been the my first contact with Amon Amarth. And yes, this specific song. I cant describe the feeling I had.. I never knew such raw, brutal music before. It was like thunder. Yet melodic. Needless to say I fell in love with the band and melodic death metal. And I remember trying to play the main riff for days.. and especially the outro.. Still a favourite to play up to this day Thank you, Amon Amarth.
+Gwai Lo Hmm, funny cause I specifically remember the saxons recording that the men who fought with Harold Hadrada were very tall and that he himself stood head and shoulders above everyone else. The Varangian gaurd were also supposedly bigger than the men of constantinople. Not saying all the scandinavians were but there definitely are records that speak of them as being pretty big guys. I've been around some pretty big swedish dudes myself.
Ghost rider Many vikings were taller than all other Europeans, but that's it. They didn't have a monstrous build, but their height still made the French or English feel smaller.
Today is an autumn day where I live, but the wind outside made me think of this song immediately. It's not spring, but the Viking spirit in me is ready to set out to sea :).
The Road of Kings by Robert E.Howard When I was a fighting-man, the kettle-drums they beat; The people scattered gold-dust before my horse’s feet; But now I am a great king, the people hound my track With poison in my wine-cup, and daggers at my back. Gleaming shell of an outworn lie; fable of Right divine - You gained your crowns by heritage, but Blood was the price of mine. The throne that I won by blood and sweat, by Crom, I will not sell For promise of valleys filled with gold, or threat of the Halls of Hell! What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. The subtle tongue, the sophist guile, they fail when the broadswords sing; Rush in and die, dogs - I was a man before I was a king.
Despite what some people may say, I'm SO excited for the new record. the title track sounds like one of the most solid, thrashy tracks they've ever done. they're definitely evolving and trying new things.
Just saw these guys live at DTE with slayer, cannibal corpse and lamb of god , was a badass show this song was the last song they played it was killer to hear it live definitely a fan now
In my opinion there are 4 songs with this structure: machine gun bestial drums and amazing horror riffs, that songs are: Bleed-Meshuggah One by one-Immortal The Pursuit of Vikings- Amon Amarth Spheres of Madness- Decapitated Does anybody knows another songs with this structure?
I am gonna listen to one by one now cuz those other three songs are favs of mine. Thank you for that fourth one good sir. Listening to it now, awesome but I already knew.
Maybe: Mayhem-Frozen Moon Nile-Annihilation of the wicked Gojira-The heaviest matter of the universe. The drum isn't that fast in the mayhem song but the style and the ability of the drummer are phenomenal.
This song by Amon Amarth is amazing! It represents one of my other favorite NFL teams, the purple and the gold of the Minnesota Vikings. Defend the north!
This Was So Good It Turned My Shaved Beard Into A Full Grown Beard, Turned My Car Into A Ship, Turned My Clothing Into A Wolf Pelt, Turned My hat Into A Horned Helmet, Turned My Dog Into A Wolf, Turned My House Into A Hut And Made My Scars More Visible.
fuck man they played this at soundwave this year and the crowd just took off to give you an idea of how good the set was i entered the set only barely being able to growl i left with a gutteral death growl with alot of volume behind it thats a good set people
