Love ADII. I reckon that "Live In London" is one of the best live albums ever made. This is pretty good too. However, the title track of the album Phallus Dei on the album is bloody awefull. Takes up one side of the LP, and just is a stoned out jam. It has no cohesion. Love ADII though.
I enjoy the chaotic rapture of the title track from Phallus Dei. It's just got such a freaky, dark atmosphere to it and sounds almost like a magical ritual being performed through rock instrumentation. Of course I enjoy Soap Shop Rock and The Marilyn Monroe Memorial Church more. And even the Yeti jams in the back half of that album. But there is nothing and I mean NOTHING that has that primal, raw, beastly, Tantric energy quite like the Phallus Dei suite. NIN and Marilyn Manson could never scare me the way AD2 does on this stoned out jam (gem)! And I mean scare me in a GOOD way. A way that gets me pumped up and excited rather than annoyed.
It's absolutely horrible the whole side of mostly screaming & smashing of drums & the opposite of Yeti on every level~ Live In London is the best Amon Dull2 album to trip to for me with Yeti bringing up a near second. Up till Hijack they are invincible as musical inovators to trip out to & the best ever stoner music! Viva La Trance, Carnival In Babylon & Wolf City shine too!~
