1996. I'm temping at a law firm in Seattle. I come back from lunch, turn on the college radio station, and THIS is playing. It blew my #@$% mind! I knew about sampling and DJ culture, but I had never heard music like this before. It sounded like the music playing in a speakeasy in hell. It's futuristic yet retro, it's moody yet robotic, it's spare yet sophisticated... It's a masterpiece! I quit the next day.
I'm going to see Amon and Aphex Twin in eleven days and I couldn't be more excited :D Amon is playing two hours long and then Aphex twin one and a half.
@MrCyberElephant The best festival I've ever had. Amon Tobin's Isam was indescribably amazing, everything just looked like a trip, 3d and everything and the people were awesome, and everyone danced their asses off it was sick
sounds like the setting of a mental stabilization clinic with the camera set on a heavily drugged, confused patient, desperate to escape, all shot in slo-mo...I'm serious, If I had the time and certain connections, I'd be able to write quite a movie idea with this track included in a certain scene. Besides, it's always been my dream to be a side actor or a writer/co-writer for a movie.
@Mahanjah Or (just another thought), defocus from the curent state that society has gotten itself into and think about yourself as part of the universe and not just your Country->City->Mall->Workplace->Couch ... just sayin' bruh :)
@outfromoutwhere yeah no doubt. it kind of reminds me of the matrix...it's like i-doser, except it doesn't get you high, it just keeps you "un-plugged" =/ separated from reality.
