I am one Westerner who is definitely not ashamed of his country for having an Empire. Was half the world supposed to have been left in a savage state? No. The world was moving on , materials were needed. We couldn’t wait 500 years or so for the natives to get round to getting it and processing it and marketing it.
After Mo died 632 his position was then filled by a series of Caliphs, they continued the expansionist policy of imperialism and colonialism as they spread Islam by the sword. I'll outline the history into Europe, but don't forget the expansionist policy also spread west into North Africa all the way to Morocco, and further East to China. I'll be brief in my outline: By 668 jihad manifested itself outside the walls of Constantinople 711 Islamic armies invaded Spain 800 years of fighting followed until 1492 The jihad engulfed more nations than the Palestine-bound Crusades (there were 8 of these between 1096 and 1270, less than 200 years, they wanted to establish themselves in the holy land which was formerly Christian) Far grander jihad continued as Muslims wanted to take and occupy Europe and Islamize it. Large parts of Europe were taken and occupied for centuries, sometimes devastated and some of it Islamized. Spain Portugal France Italy Sicily Austria Bosnia Serbia Croatia Hungary Romania Wallachia Albania Moldavia Bulgaria Greece Armenia Georgia Poland Ukraine Eastern and southern Russia All Jihad battlefields where Islam conquered or was conquered. Many of those lands were occupied by Muslims, in some cases by Arabs or Moors, in others by Ottoman Turks, usually for hundreds of years. Spain 800 years Portugal 600 Greece 500 Sicily 300 Serbia 400 Bulgaria 500 Romania 400 Hungary 150 years - a place particularly ruined/plundered and ravaged and it took 200 years to recover. Muslims came and occupied a huge part of Europe, the Turks besieged Vienna twice in 1529 and 1683. Their cavalry raided central Europe, riding into Bavaria almost as far as Nuremberg. They fought in Poland and the Ukraine, crushed Hungary, occupied Belgrade and Budapest for hundreds of years. The Moors and the Arabs took Spain and Portugal, invaded France through the Pyrenees, turned Sicily into an Islamic island, raided Rome, sacked St Peter's and obliged the pope to pay tribute. From their base near St Tropez they raided Switzerland as far as Lake Constance on the German border. The pirates of the Barbary coast raided England, Denmark, Ireland, Iceland and brought back thousands of slaves for the markets of Constantinople (after they had turned it into Istanbul) and North Africa. The Mongols threatened Moscow, occupied the Crimea and became Tatars. The Persians marched into Georgia, so did the Turks, who also occupied Armenia. Some imagine that the sack of Jerusalem in 1099 was the start of the hostility between Islam and the West, they handily ignore the capture of Jerusalem from the Christians in 638, the invasion of Spain some 70 years later by the Arabs and Moors, and the subsequent 800 year occupation in whole or in part of the Iberian peninsula. It is interesting that the west has by-and-large forgotten this history, but it hasn't been forgotten by orthodox muslims, those who see the eventual expulsion of the invading force as a shame, and who seek to take back the lands of Al Andalus etc. It is in quite stark contrast that western Europeans do not celebrate their colonialist past, yet there are significant numbers of those within dar-ul-Islam who consider their colonialism to be a glorious one.
As a supply teacher I found myself working with a Muslim TA and she was lovely. On the day before the anniversary of 9/11 we were discussing it, and I shared that on that day I was working in a Y6 class predominently Asian boys of 11, there were only a few girls and only three of them white. I was called out the room to be told quietly that has the twin towers had been attacked and there was a huge fire. I was absolutely not to discuss it, which was a moot point because this before the days of mobile phones and ready access to the internet. I was not aware of what was going on, until the evening when the momentous events unfolded. However, the next day I was back in the classroom, and those boys were ecstatic. They loved it. I was unable not to discuss it because they were and I couldn't understand how they could hate so much, and I asked them if they would be happy if I were in that building, being white. I was teaching them all term and we had a reasonable relationship, I won't say they were well behaved as they weren't. But it did open my eyes to the idea that multiculturalism doesn't work. I have no problem working and mixing and actually being friends with Muslims, but at that point I honestly felt that immigration and integration would never work. Sorry if I upset people, but even twenty years later, I am still of that persuasion,
‘Your right to still hold onto that persuasion, In Reality, it can’t be anything else. But for now they will continue to whitewash over the Differences, but eventually the True Colours will show through in the End. I hope I am not here when that happens….
We mustn't be sorry to upset people if what upsets them is something perfectly reasonable like discussing a major current event. I was brought up during the war, and not only was the war frequently discussed, but I wasn't upset by it. I wasn't even upset when the sirens went and bombs began dropping, though perhaps if a thousand pounder had landed within a 100 yards I might have been. I learned early on to take upsetting things in my stride, an experience most modern kids never have and are the worse off for it. It is not good for us to be molycoddled and wrapped in cotton wool, and it is not good for the country.
As a white, English Muslim who was brought up Christian and with a feminist mother which has still a big impact on me. I can concour definitely a lot of Muslims do not want to mix with people that get drunk, have sex freely etc etc islam does not work in a British society no tiptoeing around it. Some Muslim will be not at least upset that by 2080 it will be a big majority Muslim population that's exactly what they want. It won't be forced upon Britain it will happen very naturally especially if white British women keep adopting pets as children and take on the once traditional man's role of climbing up the ladder and not raising a family. I'm not saying they shouldn't the definitely should be allowed. I do believe a lot of misogyny in islam is cultural because women if they are aloud have a lot of rights in islam. If Britain continues on this path of a non Christian country, lack of morals. 2080 will definitely have white as a minority. I love my reglion but I'm so glad I'm English Muslim. I can't deal with alot of non born British born muslim men. On one hand ladies keep climbing that ladder so you can be independent if needed but I do think this is way it will go if government doesn't get tougher. It wont be good for women either it will be backwards.
@@johnfisher247 The problem is that the UK does not remember that it was the Barbary pirates who were Muslims who for 300 years attacked and plundered not only those countries bordering the Mediterranean but as far north as the English Channel, Ireland, Scotland and Iceland, with the western coast of England almost being raided at will. Barbary pirates raided on land as well as at sea. In August 1625 corsairs raided Mount’s Bay, Cornwall, capturing 60 men, women and children and taking them into slavery. They were taken to slave markets where if those captured were from rich families, they would ransomed and held hostage till paid, or if male without money would be routinely castrated and women sold as slaves send wives, some forced to convert to Islam. I understand why Poland and Hungary do not want Islam in their countries because they recall the not so distant past but the UK does not.
This bloke's hope that such fundamentally different cultures could somehow merge is a fantasy. After 1500 years of living side by side the English and the Scots haven't merged into one people - and our beliefs are pretty much identical. He's living in cloud cuckoo land. The European leader who has the only realistic approach to this problem is Viktor Orban of Hungary.
In the fashionable thinking of liberals, beginning in the late 19th century, the big idea concerning religion, which still hangs on today among sheltered elites, was "ecumenism" -- that all the religions can be reduced to their common denominator, which turns out to be "love they neighbour and enjoy the scenery", as summed up best in the Beatles song, "Imagine". All evidence to the contrary is stubbornly, yet somehow blithely, ignored.
Governments are too spineless to react, its much easier to pretend that nothing is wrong and let the children of the future deal with the consequences.
@@sbwlearning1372 Agreed, look how far the govt are prepared to go over covid, they have a strong arm when it suits them. I think Islam is just being used to break British culture rather than allowed to take the place over for themselves. There is another group with three centuries invested in this jewel of an island, they are not just going to give it all up.
Totally agree with you Stefan. Ridiculous organisations such as UN and EU hae imposed their "human right" on us. What about our rights which were fought for by our ancestors? As an ESL teacher have taught a variety of Muslim studnts, some of whom have stated Muslims will rule the world by emigrating to countries and having lots of children. There is no doubt any Muslim woman marrying out of their denomination would be ostracised, if not, in the extreme, murdered. The milder forms of Islam can see the benefits of free thought as Ed does but with 40% mosques being deobandi there is obviously quite a considerable cohort who think otherwise.
Islam clashes with any non-islamic values.. Alexander the great devised an efficient military machine to conquer the world, "Mohammed" developed an effective brainwashing machine with terrorism on the side to conquer the world.
Buy a house, buy next door, buy one across the road, using Islamic Banking. Take over the street, take over the neighbourhood, take over the suburb, take over the town, take over the region. That's what is happening and now it can't be stopped. It's inevitable that this country will eventually split completely. An us and them stand-off.
The comments here are fascinating, or the ignorance! ''ethnic background'', we all have one of these. Only 2.5% of the folks in the UK are English or Natives. Ask a geneticist!
Great points. What gets me is the huge presence of Muslim proselytisers in London. Sure, they have the 'right' to do that in a democracy, but imagine a Christian doing the same in any Muslim-majority/Muslim-governed country...
@@sbwlearning1372 Blair may have done but subsequent politicians have been afraid to even mention the elephant in the room for fear of losing political capital, consequently Blairism hangs over this country like a bad odour
Our political class is composed entirely of shills for globalism. They will do nothing to confront this problem, they want this, it has all been planned and orchestrated for decades. The peoples of Europe have been comprehensively betrayed by our own governments.
"The forest was shrinking, but the trees kept voting for the axe, for the axe was clever and convinced the trees that because his handle was made of wood, he was one of them"
In the 50s & 60s Jamaicans made their home here, they spoke English, happily integrated & were grateful. However, some came from countries that don't speak our language, didn't intregrate, took over areas & built their own houses of prayer. Blair opened the flood gates in the 90s to people who hate us, allowed them to have their own laws made their culture more important than our own. Now we're seeing an invasion of mainly young, strong men who hate us & our Govt does nothing, why?
Jo Vickers ...........our govt hates us too......remember we are just plebs..........were cash cows to them squanering taxpayers money............stopping paying tax to them is the only way to end the craziness.
The notion of multiculturalism is incoherent. For a multicultural country is a country with no distinctive culture of its own, but a country without a culture of its own is not a country at all, it's a jungle of conflicting tribes.
It's actually sad that clear, honest, common sense dialogue like this is a gust of fresh air. This should be how this topic's conversation should always be held, but we all know how this conversation would go down on the BBC or The Guardian!
Boris Johnson should have come out with a statement of support for the Batley Teacher and told those protesters that the police will follow up any death threats and charge those responsible.
I don't think Boris has a problem with muslims. His great grandad was a muslim, his first wife Allegra is now married to a muslim and his brother Leo is married to a muslim.
@@richardbritain7435 Basically violence works, which is sadly the message the government has gone along with in regard to this, blm and extinction rebellion and others. Sadly you are right.
Hatred for unbelievers is *central* to islam according to the quran and according to muhammad. This *fact* can't just be dismissed. We have very real grounds for concern.
@@limmeyhaze296 It IS indeed hatred of unbelievers. Hatred of white people are another conflict. Sadly, often both thease align in the same people making them doubly motivated.
@@barbeeska and he called Afrians raison heads. So it is not a hatred of whites but a hatred of all they consider to be Christians, as they know Christianity can destroy Islam.
Fostering anti-British, anti-Western attitudes....not just mosques is it? Same attitudes are rife at BBC, in academia, in NGO's and institutions as well as the Labour Party.
It should be very simple. No religion or idealogy should be beyond criticism or ridicule. If that is unacceptable for anyone then a western democracy is not where they should be. If you pander to one group you are obligated to pander to everyone, this would result in a society completely unsuited to anyone who believes in freedom and democracy.
Most of the nation is fully awake to the problem and worried, but unfortunately no one in power is prepared to bite the bullet and start tackling it. The longer it’s left the more difficult it will be (even impossible) to fix
Most people are frightened if they say anything. They have seen and heard what has happened to some, loosing there job is not the worst that can happen....
A great conversation that wouldn’t be allowed on MSM simply because of the truth being told. We need to be strong in our faith in God and humanity! 🙏🏼✝️⛪️💪🏼🏴🇬🇧
I watched a video of Victor Orban recently, he was really clear and learned about the Islam problem. He is called a right wing thug by biden, but I believe it is the opposite.
No one will 'fix' this problem, the politicians already know about these issues and do nothing out of fear. As a wise Serbian once said ' multiculturalism works until it doesn't - then all hell breaks loose'.
Not quite sure how you put a genie back in the bottle. Eastern Europe is like Britain was in the 50's. At least they have the chance to avoid making the same disastrous mistakes as us.
If we had forbidden halal slaughter, banned the hijab in schools, places of work etc, banned the burka and niqab, forbidden the founding of deobandhi mosques, restricted where people could live to avoid parallel societies, promoted Christianity and our culture they would never have come or stayed but we did the opposite. Islam is the protected religion of state and Islam has found out violence wins in a democracy. The future is social destabilisation and terror towards non Muslims. We must remember to thank our politicians and never forget what they chose to do.
Your pet budgie is more savvy than a sizeable proportion of the population still arguing a 'religion' founded by a man involved in 88 wars and bloody conflicts, who kept, bartered and sold slaves and executed captives.... is a 'religion of peace'
The working classes still do but the middle classes actively go to classes and self-flagellate about their ‘white supremacy’ and they worship everything foreign.
I don't think they get it. Most Brits would not go out of their way to deliberately offend Muslims by cartoons or any other means. We're mostly polite. But when we told that we cannot do or say certain things and threatened with violence (or the law by lunatics like Humza Yousaf), then that's a whole different matter.
What fantastic food for the mind this show is, long may it continue - never would we see anything like this in mainstream tv next to the drivel of televisions output
My old Sunday school, in a Manchester urban street was part of the Methodist church just across the road. It was almost chapel-like in its looks, small and neat. It was purchased by an Islamic 'community' and for a while was used without alteration, as a mosque. I moved away. Now, the little Sunday school has been replaced by a Massive mosque, five times the size, that completely fills the site. It's Huge and hideously clashes with all around it. But, there's zero parking. Only one reason it was given planning permission. Any guesses?
@Richard Fox we all get into trouble when we presuppose another person's mindset and intention.... whatever his motive, he has a nose for seeking out hateful ideology.
Mischaracterisation of Trump and his supporters, Mr. Husain. Please put a fine definition on 'Republican extremists', please. I'm not confident you have.
Remember the kkk was formed by democrats, and LBJ was providing people of black with enoughwelfare to keep them away from work, I believe the quote was along the lines of 'give the ni****s just enough'. Most charitable from a relatively modern democrat president. Not extreme surely?
I’ve read the book and recommend it I do think the author is over optimistic and understates the day to day problems in living in these low cost housing areas with those who do not integrate
@@petersmith3953 yes he is too optimistic about the future - in reality there have never ever been successful multi ethnic societies - it’s delusional to think the U.K. can succeed in its diversity endeavour
Having recently read Among the Mosques to increase my knowledge of muslims in Britain it has unfortunately reaffirmed my general view of the problems that exist. We cannot be tolerant of intolerant thought and it must be addressed to ensure Britain remains the beacon of free speech and equality in the world.
Absolutely right. Unfortunately our leaders and many of us, suffer from the OSTRICH SYNDROME. My father wept when Poland and Hungary fell into communism and wept for joy when communism fell. He taught many Poles to fly in the war. I applaud their people today and what we have done to help them; I saw in the seventies what they suffered at first hand. Loss of culture, personal identity and freedom are hard won and easily lost. Religion when hijacked by politics is lethal and in the UK our institutions are being sanitised by stealth. Its rapidity in recent months has at least awakened us to the issues. Fortune favours the brave.
The diversity just doesnt play nice. We bring them here and expect they'll change over to western thinking, culture, ways of behaving. It just doesnt happen.
Short version. Enoch was right..? Just one disturbing event that happened to me. Went into an asian fabric shop roundhay road, leeds. Inside was asian mom, dad and small child, perhaps 6 years old with a plastic sword The child saw me, grimaced, came at me waving the sword saying repeatedly 'I chop your head off'. Parents did nothing. Maybe they were proud.
My parents had always voted Labour. I remember as a child the Enoch Powell speech. I never got to know what the speech was, simply that Enoch Powell was an irretrievable bigot, beyond the pale. Maybe in the 1960s migration was well short of what it is today so not then a problem. Unfortunately in 2020s Enoch Powell looks like a prophet foretelling the future but nobody took him seriously before it was too late.
I left the UK to live in Australia 20 years ago. One thing that really made a big impact on me was a conversation I had with a very successful hard-working Pakistani business man who confidently stated that ‘we will be running the country in less than 200 years’. I was taken aback at the time but with 20 years hindsight; I’d say more like 100 years.
According to Professor D. Coleman the point at which the white British become a minority will be around 2066. He gave his calculations in 2010 before the 2011 census. His students called for him to be sacked. We dare not talk about immigration in any bad way so that's the future they want they can have it and I'm glad I'll be dead hopefully before the bad stuff starts.
Couldn’t agree more. I worry most about terminology and labels that become the currency of our so-called culture/society. Community groups and other bodies , of the kind mentioned here and loved by local government.
This week I saw a report that a UK court was actually considering a case about 'bride price'. WTF? If shouldn't be a case at all. This is Britain not fecking India or Pakistan!! At what point do we turn around and say NO?
Professor Husain is as detached from the reality of Islam in the UK as many of the natives. They are here for our money and their ease. We are just a resource to them.
Liked before you even begin just because you are interviewing Ed Husain. His book, "The Islamist," should be required reading for all politicians, not only for his direct knowledge and experience, but also for his courage to change course.
i was talking with an indian woman (hindu) in the US and she was telling me how where she lives is "advanced" because the area is mixed. What I later learned is that in her apartment building, there are hindus living next door to indian sikhs, next door to indian muslims -- and that is what she meant by "mixed". The idea of living next to an american wasn't even considered.
The politicians who let these people in and gave us this problem should be charged with treason. Islam does not like any art that represents humans or creatures.
Immigration was only mentioned in conversation very occasionally in white communities, yes there was a concern in the changing faces in our major cities…. But now it is a major topic, literally every meeting up of friends over the past few years has been the floods of immigrants, the concerns of our culture and way of life in a sharp decline, afraid to speak out for fear of being racist while those that enter get full care packages, housing, pocket money AND a voice! It’s not going to end up peaceful, is it?
The nation has been aware for years, we just aren't allowed to say anything due to clever marketing and bottle jobs. UK is doomed if nothing changes. Welfare state needs to collapse for any chance of change.
The economy will collapse first, The drain on the welfare state is simply not sustainable. It wasn’t established to support people for life and mass immigration. It was a safety net for the British workers who fell on hard times and for a relatively short time . Of course it’s been abused for years and years but governments do not want to upset their imported votes .

Excellent interview. Although, I think the Batley scandal just highlighted how reluctant, or completely absent, the government is on the issue of critical thought and free expression. The silence is deafening!
We need to talk about the systemic racism in the south Asian communities. Why are interracial marriage is so low? Why do south Asian women never seem to date whites at the same level as the men? Why do you never see south Asians in relationships with Africans? This is the sort of systemic cultural racism that we need to talk about. Why are south Asians so racist to other groups?

I think consequently their children are going to have the freedom to marry who they choose, so integration will happen. It takes generations to get away from the mindset of you have to marry into a particular caste in their culture.

*Not every mosque has a dome.* There are hundreds of registered mosques in most towns that simply look like a home. Why? Because you don't pay council tax on a place of worship.
The trouble is we are led by liars and cowards, not just in Parliament but across the whole unelected state. Many keep quiet for fear of losing their jobs. As Edmund Burke wrote all those years ago 'The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. '

He needs to be able to convert a considerable number of influential Imams to his way of thinking and for our govt to stop treating Muslims with kid gloves. They do need to integrate or if they like fundamental Islam there are plenty of countries to choose from to migrate to.

I can think of only one culture in the recent past that has been subjected to unlimited migrants from another culture. That culture was the Native American culture that was eventually overwhelmed by European settlers. The end result was the almost total destruction of that culture and its people. The massive influx into Europe of a culture that is the antithesis of Western culture may have a similar outcome.
Excellent informative interview. The only quibble I had was Prof Husain's faith in the current Tory cabinet to fix the problem - and especially in Mr Johnson - his faith there is I'm afraid utterly misplaced.
The government needs to set clear boundaries to all about what is and isn't acceptable in the UK according to our shared values. No boundaries means we inadvertently let people over step an invisible mark. The line needs to be drawn in clear, well defined ways that cannot be misinterpreted or abused.
We're tribal. It's how you handle it when you realise it that makes a difference. Most people on the planet know the difference between good / bad right / wrong. The 'minority' are not being dealt with.

They don't need to be. Islam is different from non white people coming here. An Islamic Britain is not good. But a non white Britain is good. So get over yourself.
Diversity is indeed NOT our strength. Research clearly demonstrates that Diversity diminishes social cohesion. For those who disagree, take a look at Japan and talk to me about cultural homogeneity in Japan and its correlation with social cohesion in that nation!
